Best restaurant with Polish cuisine in West Berkshire. You might be but nervous about time you must wait for your dish but it’s because it’s been just freshly prepared form best quality ingredients. Always feel there as at grandma’s house - full stomach, friendly people who work there and nice interior. Would reccomend to anyone, not just only Polish citizens!

I have been here several times now. This time I got the chicken kiev which was excellent! The portion size was huge, the chicken was very succulent and flavourful. Potatoes were also great. Definitely get it with the mushroom sauce. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food came in a reasonable time.

Went here on a recommendation by a friend and so glad to have done so! The venue is tucked away and much larger than anticipated, great decor and very warming feel. Staff very friendly and prompt with service, and the food came out very quickly, too. The food itself was great, and also arrived quickly. The portions are large so make sure you are very hungry if you're getting a starter and main!

Wow. What a hidden gem in Reading. I went to Krakow at Christmas this year, and I immediately felt like I was transported back there. The wooden interior with authentic polish trinkets, along with the good portion sizes and non pretentious food meant that the atmosphere inside was so fun and warm. Lovely blonde waitress was very friendly and helped us with understanding the menu. Please support this brilliant place. We used the eat out to help out government scheme, so normally it may have been a little on the pricy side but it did not matter in the slightest!

This place was recommended by my Polish colleague and I’m glad she did; there were some tasty dishes! Like a taste of Poland in Reading. The location outside can seem quite dodgy; it is underground, but inside has positive vibes and well decorated. Hearty portions of food and good value for money in terms of what you are getting. Go regularly for the delicious food - especially love the beef goulash with potato pancake and spinach/feta cheese dumplings (pictured). Portions are quite large so would advise going there hungry. Staff are always really friendly and accommodating.

After reading all the reviews I really had high hopes. We started with the traditional polish smoked cheese made from sheep milk with cranberry sauce ("oscypek") and this was absolutely amazing! However, traditional breaded pork cutlet with same cheese and egg was a bit disappointing. Meat itself didn't have a taste and it was slightly burnt. Potato pancake with beef goulash was much better. Also, bit tired with music in the background but perhaps some people enjoy it...

Fantastic! I was introduced a few years ago by some Polish friends. Always receive a warm welcome from the team. Food is epic and portions are very generous and exactly like I've experience in and around Krakow. Make sure you are hungry when you go :-) Chilli vodka a nice end to the evening. Wow. Just, wow. We happened upon this place almost by accident, and boy are we happy we did. The food is fantastic; we had kielbasa, borscht, chicken kiev, stroganoff, and goulash with potato pancakes. Every single dish was outstanding. We can't recommend this place enough.

Came here on Saturday lunchtime with a couple of friends, one of whom is Polish and was able to recommend her favourites. I chose the Potato pancakes with Pork Goulash and a Perla Miodowa (honey beer). The place is tucked away on a side street, a short walk from Reading town centre. The restaurant itself is in the basement of the building, but the decor is very nice and cosy, like a mountain tavern.. lots of dark wood everywhere. The food was delicious and generously portioned. I will definitely be returning to try other dishes! (P.S.. if I had to pick a fault it would be the toilets.. whilst I have been in worse, the toilet roll holder was defunct in the cubicle I used, the hand dryer didn't work and there were no hand towels provided, so it was drip dry or wipe dry on your own clothes!!)

The food is so so good! It’s one of the few places in Reading you can get beef tartare and theirs is really excellent. They have a nice outdoor seating area that is well sheltered and warm to sit in. The service is also great - we will definitely be back.

Came here with some family and friends. I was excited about the menu trying something different. We had the share plate with everything and wow. Pork hok came out flaming which was cool talking point. Meat was tender and flavourful. Just make sure you don't eat for the day before. Staff were nice and nice atmos. Going again for sure.

This place is about atmosphere, quality food and the company you're with. If you want waiters at you elbow and a pretentious wine list do everyone a favour and go elsewhere.

We ate here after a work conference. Amazing! There was 19 of us and everyone was very happy with their meals. Great value and loads of food for your money. They had a good selection of polish larger which were also reasonably priced. One of the 19 meals came out very slightly late but my colleague was given a complimentary shot of liquor whilst he waited. I would 100% eat here again next time I'm in Reading.

Really tasty dishes, good prices, in a casual atmosphere. Beef goulash was quite good, and while heavy, pleasantly balanced by a selection of salads. Perogies are always a good thing. Reasonably priced, too. Fun, varied menu, but would have loved to see some Polish sausage offerings. Music was occasionally obnoxious, and the battery-powered candles were a bit like strobe lights.

Enormous portions, big enough for two people. Selection of polish beer. Beer garden with the heaters to stay outside. The only disadvantage - very warm inside and stuffy, stay away from the bar & kitchen area. Place definitely worth recommendetion and re-visiting :)

Good solid Polish food in a homely (wood-lined and cosy basement) pub setting. Service was a bit slow and bar choices limited to two types of wine, lagers and cocktails, but the waitresses were really friendly, and let us bring our own wine for a friend's birthday lunch. Would go again, preferably with Polish friends and an empty stomach!

Great food, good beer, excellent services I'm a student and was introduced to the "Polish place" by one of my friends of polish heritage who had often visited as a young boy when attending Polish school. Food is very filling and is of very good quality, as a warning to those of lighter end and people on diets, there is LOTS of food and a variety of food and if one is not polish do not fear everyone in the restaurant speaks perfect English. A mild warning the meat platter is not for the faint hearted it is best to share between 3-4 as it is of Man vs Food portion but is VERY tasty and very good hearty cuisine I suggest for everyone to go to Piwnica a frequent haunt of many of my friends, very student and family friendly and would say to any student in Reading it is a place that should be visited at least once!

This city has a large Polish community and this is a hidden gem to make people like me feel home! Very hearty food with large portions! The menu has some regional treats (Silesian or Tatry highland) so ask the waiter for the best selection, we had Pork Spread Bread and Cottage Cheese Ravioli to share for starters, my favourite Potato pancake with tender beef goulash and Beef fillet with Silesian dumplings. Alternatively was considering sharing the large meat platter. Recommend going on less busy times weekday evenings for quick serving time (they make all fresh so it takes time) and a weekend meal for the full experience. There is a variety of great original dishes, so an opportunity to try something else than the usual burger or ribs available anywhere in the country. The only recommendation would be to invest a bit in a new look of the toilets and entrance/welcome area as people get confused waiting to be seated. (ps. do not leave toilet door by the entrance open!).

Thought reviews here were fake (assumed that they were made by polish people :P) I also assumed that place is probably shabby (judging the building look from London road) and here I am 2 years later ... visited this restaurant with my Gf last night for the first time and God I have to tell you I was sooo wrong about this place ! food was amazing, place looks great too and staff was friendly and helpful.
