My partner walks past Blue Island on his way to work and for many years wanted to dine in but never had the opportunity to. This was until he and I decided to try this restaurant out of curiosity. And were we glad we did. The moment we walked in, it was like we were transported to someone's homely dining room in Santorini as the white and blue colour motif was reminiscent of the island. The main chef, who's behind the kitchen opening greeted us at the door. Staff overall were very friendly and welcoming. Service was quick and efficient as well. I ordered the moussaka which was simply delicious- soft and fluffy with a subtle creamy flavour and at the same time packed with mince meat. The size looked small at first glance but it proved to be quite filling towards the end. My partner, who had the chicken souvlaki, enjoyed his dinner all the same as the chicken was melt in your mouth tender and seasoned perfectly. All mains come with a generous portion of Greek Salad and crispy, fluffy chips. It was definitely well worth the money spent as servings were massive. Some things to consider, this is a no debit/ credit card restaurant so try to find a cash point before going in. Toilets are after the first flight of stairs and are immaculately clean. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended for those who love Greek food. We will surely come back.

The most amazing Greek food ever! Chef created an absolutely delicious mixed vegetarian dish for me specially at an incredibly low price. Amazing food. Apologies for not listing photos but was too eager to dig in to my scrumptious food. Such a lovely, lovely girl waited on us, she was so attentive and really calm despite the restaurant beginning to get busy. Will definitely be back there soon. Went to Blue Island for my hubby's birthday dinner. We were greeted with a lovely smile. We ordered the Meze and what can I say......WOW! Lots of lovely dishes, dips and bread. I'd like to say as huge thank you to Christina and Simon! Their hospitality has been fantastic. For my 30th Birthday they were kind enough to close the restaurant for the night (as we booked every seat in the restaurant), organised a band and threw a great evening. The food is great and truly greek, having has the mezze it seems like the food is endless - though all top quality. It's well priced, friendly and a great place to eat. I would highly recommend Blue Island and shall be back! (Having already been back since my birthday)

It's a nice little cafe/restaurant in high Street which serves delicious Italian food. I had the lamb dish and the lamb deliciously succulent. The staff is really friendly as well and the place starts bustling in the late evenings. A must try.

If you like Greek foods this is the place that I advise you to go sure if you are around Southampton. The food was excellent and fresh I liked everything but specially the Bougiourdi baked fetta cheese it was delicious. The service was good too. Good quality good price.

Travelling up from Bournemouth for a show, I'll admit I wasn't expecting much but it was the nearest restaurant that we found that wasn't a chain. Well don't judge too early..... super service as we entered and were seated. After being steered to meze sharing platter my wife and I were hit with an absolutely amazing succession of plates of food. Chef, and I assume owner seemed to have put a whole lot of love in to every dish and when we gave our verdict seemed genuinely pleased to have made us happy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I'd definitely travel 40 mins back just for this restaurant. Loved it Edit 18th December returned again with friends and pleased to say that it was again excellent.

Absolutely amazing food!!!! Cannot wait to go back after lockdown. The staff were so lovely, very attentive and you can tell this is a family run business. They pulled out all the stops for our party of 6 for a surprise birthday celebration and felt completely safe the whole time. Can't wait for the doors to be open again and to be able to go back 😋

This is a lovely family run Greek restaurant. We had the meze (a kind of Greek version of tapas) and for £16 a head it was very good value for money. Drinks are not too expensive either. There is a really good atmosphere here and when they flambe food at your table it is very exciting. The staff are lovely and helpful and the food is so well cooked. It is worth reserving ahead. Oh, and bring cash as they don't take credit or debit cards.

It was amazing. We, a family of 4, had a great time. Service, food and drinks were excellent. We had the Meze , 3 portions for 2 adults and 2 children turned out more than enough. Actually, they served us mostly 4 portions. The kids got ice cream for dessert and loved it. I would definitely go again :-)!

Don't be put off by the decor! This is a wonderful restaurant with caring and attentive staff. We had the mezze which was a stunning selection of beautifully cooked classics. The wine was great value and tasty too. At the end of meal I asked I if they had Ouzo and they found me some... Despite it not being on the drinks menu. They didn't charge me for it either! I am not big on writing reviews; I read them but in fact, this is the first time I write one. I was very happy with my experience at Blue Island. The place looks small and it is small but offers very personal service away from the pretentious service of big restaurants where you are treated as a number. I found the food great and the prices quite reasonable. In fact, it looked to me that the owner was not at all in the business to make large profits but out of joy to mingle and cook for people. In any case, I will definitely go back to the restaurant.

Feeling like in Greece. Being here with friendly people and tasty food, you forget about the cold and rain outside. A family restaurant with quality food and good prices also. Everything in the main courses menu ranging from 7 to 13 £, and the quantity is just right. Hopefully I'll get that chance to come again.

i literally had the best calamari ive ever had in this small family run restaurant, do not judge this place by its decor judge it once you taste the food. the Chef/owner knows what hes doing and the fresh produce shines through, i tried to get the recipe for his chicken marinade but a chef must keep his secrets - excellent food and service - only let down is they dont have a card machine so take cash.

Had the mezze and oh my goodness there was so much food! It was all delicious - very fresh Greek salad, halloumi, calamari, souvlaki, the most delicious mushrooms cooked in red wine, lamb shank and more. It was great. Would definitely return. Wine was very reasonably priced too. Much better than the chainy Greek restaurants popping up around Southampton - the owners, who were also in the kitchen all night, are from Cyprus. You can definitely tell the difference.

Blue Island is excellent - we gather our friends and family together for most birthdays and celebrations there, including the night before we got married, and my upcoming 40th. The decor is basic, and facilities rustic but acceptable - I'd been walking past it for years before even considering going in, because it is on a main route between bigger and brasher places, and looks so simple - but we have never been disappointed by the food or service, which is always excellent. The owner in particular makes you feel very welcome, and knew our names by the second visit. We recommend the meze - it's reasonably priced, and each dish that gets brought to you is of a really high standard... there's a chicken dish that usually comes out near the end that is OH MY GOD so tender and tasty that it's making me feel hungry just writing about it. WARNING: Try not to fill up on pitta bread and dips before the food comes out. It's a schoolboy error, and one that we make every time. Most restaurants do that on purpose, but you really do get a lot of food for your money here, and you won't want to leave any. We always get any leftovers wrapped up and take them home.

What can I say about the food at this place , apart from FANTASTIC. I used to go to the Greek islands a lot but sadly have not been there for a few years now. Walking into this restaurant , I was immediatly taken back to the islands with the music and decore . The waitress was extremely efficient and helpful , and took our orders quickly . all the tables were soon full , and it was pleasing to note that there were Greeks eating there to , ( always a good sign ) And then our food arrived and all I can say is WOW It was just like I remembered it from Kefalonia , and took me straight back there in a instant , bringing back wonderful memories Three things I would recommend , First , book a table , as they turned a few unlucky people away. Second, the warm starters are wonderful but dont have to much before the huge main course, And Three , well savour every second in there as its the nearest your going to get to Greece in the U.K. Would I go there again , In a heartbeat THANKYOU BLUE ISLAND

The best restaurant I've been to in Southampton so far. The food was ridiculously tasty and such a good price. The portions are huge so there's no way you'll be leaving hungry. The moussaka was phenomenal and so was the chicken souflaki. My husband and I look forward to trying the rest of the menu and can't wait to return already. The woman who served us was so lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special. Cannot fault the restaurant or the staff. They'll be seeing us very soon!
