Reviews of Cafe Thrive

Absolutely the most delicious food. Our first visit, we had the Christmas Sandwich and the Reuben Toasted Sandwich, and shared a huge portion of crispy chips. The sandwiches were full of lovely flavours - that sage and onion mayo! Both were generously filled and equally tasty. Great service, atmosphere, views of the park and food - we're looking forward to coming back. You must go and try it.

Decided to come here here as one of my mates was vegan. At first I was a bit reluctant about the menu (seitan wraps- the devil sounding name hardly stimulates the appetite) but the food turned out to be quite excellent. The desserts were just as equally amazing despite not having contained traditional animal based dairy products. Staff were really friendly and accommodating as well. Just get ready for a bit of a queue as the place gets packed.

I so wish there was still a thrive in Bournemouth this place is epic. Amazing freshly prepared vegan foods with unbelievable specials. Today I had the new year burger which was out of this world. Staff are lovely and the kids meals are great value.

A delightful surprise, what a lovely place to be with loads of delicious vegan options! Everything we ordered was beyond exquisite! I’m not a cafe or restaurant kind of person but this cafe is definitely worth anyone’s visit! Loved it loved it loved it!

Been here already few times but just tried milkshakes and cakes for now. Everything is vegan which is a plus but the cakes are wait too sweet for my liking can taste only sugar unfortunately. Next time I'll try one of the burgers.

Like quite a few people this year, we thought we'd try out Veganuary. We have been finding it hard. This place has been a god send! Great food, stuff to buy to take home too. Even after Veganuary finishes we'll be back as this cafe is fantastic.

Brilliant tasting food. Large portion sizes for the price. Lovely team and incredibly fast service considering how busy the place was! Satay fries is a must! Thank you!

I wasn't that impressed unfortunately. The wholefoods vegan burger tasted nice but fell apart completely when trying to eat it with my hands, customer service not great, the guy put me on a table that hadn't been cleared/cleaned and said he would clear it for me, but he never did. Maybe I came on a bad day..

Lovely tasty food. Worth a try even if you are not vegan, although food is quite pricey.
They also offer gluten free baps.
The chips, whilst also fairly expensive are huge portions and easily enough to share.
One thing to note, if you want mayonnaise, you have to pay for it and get the tiniest tube....about a dessert spoon full.

Visited last week and was really pleasantly surprised by the food here. As a carnivore I haven't really bothered to eat much vegan grub; Cafe Thrive was recommended and it was an excellent choice, the burgers we had were really tasty. Cute little place, service was good. Would definitely visit again!

A lucky find. Lovely little place with so much choice!
Best choice of vegan cakes I think I've ever seen. Had a huge slice of delicious cookie pie 🍪 🥧
Highly recommend. Will be back to try the hot food soon 😀

I enjoyed every mouthful of my wrap ... the Mediterranean Cheese with mushrooms and sunblush tomatoes absolutely yummy... the green smoothie was a hit too with Avocado spinach and apple... you must taste these...

Really good. I enjoyed my meal of thrive salad and loaded fries. Was huge portion couldn't eat it all 🤣

My favourite spot in Southampton hands down! Food is fab, staff are lovely and I love the weekly specials, they’re always exciting! The desserts are the winner for me, such a huge selection and everything I’ve tried so far has been so good 😄 wish I could go more regularly than I do now!

Amazing menu, with a large selection to choose from...super great prices too!! Food was absolutely incredible and the service and staff were lovely and very accommodating. The cafe itself is homely and the staff all chatty and welcoming. Will definitely visit again and recommended to anyone 👍

One of my favourite places on earth. The food at Cafe Thrive is incredible, and there’s so much choice! Not to mention the ever-changing cabinet of baked treats that I can never resist! Staff are always charming and friendly — I am always awaiting my next visit down to Soton to return to Cafe Thrive!

Overall a very nice spot, will be coming again. Loved the corndog however the iced mango chai was kind of bland and the biscoff donut was a little stale but still nice overall. Fried cookie dough is good but can get a bit sickly so best to split it. My friend said the breakfast muffin is top tier and that she always gets it so must be great!

Had high hopes for this Vegan café as reviews were highly rated. My partner & I had the vegan hotdog which was really tasty, we both brought chips as sides. They were extremely dry, no flavour at all. We both had a couple of them & left the rest such a waste😔 the milkshake & smoothie we had were also nice, however the price! £29 I was shocked, the food wasn’t worth the price in my opinion.

Delicious! Lovely people, great atmosphere. A great find!

A Southampton staple for me and my wife. You can always rely on good food and service here. Great size portions for the prices, and some of the best cakes I've ever had.

Amazing catering by Thrive today at an environmental writing workshop at MAST. The gluten free options were both delicious, varied & generous! Everyone was really happy with the food & felt well fed! Thank you.
A. M.
Great vegan cafe which will please everyone. Good for burgers etc but healthier options available. Wide selection of drinks with high quality coffee. Portion sizes are generous. My favorite is the SLT: seitan, lettuce & tomato sandwich.
B. P.
Nice place with delicious food. Can highly recommend.

I love this place! I feel good just sat in it. I’ve only had the breakfast so far but I’d love to try the hot chocolate one day as it sounds amazing! The vegan sausages are the best I’ve had and the hash browns are SPOT ON! Also do a lovely coffee and a great cup of tea, this place is like a vegan haven! Also good for popping a few doors down to go to Rice Up to get loads of plastic free whole foods!
L. P.
So good to have a place that makes great fast-food style vegan food! There is so much to choose from here, you could get something different everyday for a week!
They also sell vegan sweets, drinks and other little bits 😊
L. M.
Absolutely delicious vegan dishes and a perfect crispy seitan chicken recipe. The sweet chilli wrap is well recommended. There is an offering of vegan desserts and craft beers as well. The cafe also feels very welcoming to LGBTQ+ people.

Best place to eat in Southampton. The staff and the atmosphere is so friendly 🖤 wonderfully balance food that you know the upmost care goes into. Highly recommended.

Super cute cafe, with a phenomenal menu which offers everything from super tasty junk food, to delicious healthy options, and seasonal items. The cakes were incredible, and the staff were super friendly!

Delicious food and great atmosphere. We got “chicken” burger and “meat” burger both with sweet potato chips and a quinoa salad! It was absolutely beautiful! Thrive is my new place for coffee and food in Southampton! Totally recommending it to everyone even if you’re not vegan you’ll be surprised and satisfied with the menu, taste and quality!

I was in Southampton to play a show with Dave Rowntree (the drummer from Blur) and was tasked with finding the best place around for lunch for me and the bass player before soundcheck. On a hunch I chose Café Thrive – it was a complete triumph.
I had the vegan sausage baguette. I'm not vegan, but this was as good as any sausage baguette you will get anywhere. Nice soft bread, lovely sauces and melt-in-the-mouth fried onions just delivering a truly scrumptious (if rather messy) lunch.
Top notch! Bravo!

Great selection of food and drinks for those seeking the animal free selections, tasty offerings with something to suit all tastebuds.
Staff are friendly and provided insights where needed, sitting outside to enjoy summer weather was a bonus

Love this vegan place! Tasty food, lovely staff, always heaving (great for the business!), a must go for every trip to Southampton!!
J. S.
Delicious vegan food served by a wonderful staff. Had the signature breakfast and it was a treat - even better was the brownie bowl! Prices not bad at all for the centre of Southampton, and a convenient location to boot. Only small criticism was that it was a little chilly inside when we went and the door wasn't well insulated so it let in the breeze.

First time visit to this great cafe in Southampton. All dishes are vegan and many are gluten free. I had the 'meaty' burger with fries and a peanut butter cup milkshake. My lunch partner had a mocha and a whole food burger and sweet potato fries and we both really enjoyed our dishes. The portions were generous, so much so that I skipped pudding but took home 2 portions of their special that day, seitan Irish stew with sourdough rolls, which was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, there is plenty of seating upstairs and down and you are requested to find your table before you order and it is brought to your table when ready. The prices are very fair and whether you are vegan or not, I would highly recommend a visit to this funky, cool cafe for a decent slap-up lunch.

The best and a must try Vegan restaurant in town. We really appreciate the week's specials that allow us to try new menus.

OMG! On holiday for a couple of days in the area, and found this place on the Happy Cow app. If this was the only place I visited the entire trip would have been well worth it. The food is amazing, the range, variety. AND ALL VEGAN! We had two of the salad bowls one with salad, mushrooms, roasted veg, seitan pieces jalapeños and one with salad coleslaw, pickled red cabbage, feta, and fried onion pieces both with ranch dressing. AMAZING! Very impressed.

So lovely!! Fantastic menu — we had a burger each and shared some loaded chips. Not the cheapest but the portion sizes were really great. We will definitely be coming back, very cute little cafe.

Lovely little place to grab some food with so many vegan options. The hoisin fries and cheesecake was amazing, so I definitely will be back to try more. The lady that served me was very friendly. As it’s small it can get busy so unfortunately we couldn’t get seated so got it to take away. I will add I won’t be using the silver cutlery when I return as I observed a male member of staff picking up the clean cutlery at the fork, knife and spoon end with his unwashed hands after clearing dirty tables, touching food etc… not hygienic at all. Thankfully there was wooden cutlery. Best vegan option in town so I will be back next time!

Nice little place, the upstairs seating gives a good view of the park! The coffee is nice and the cakes are amazing! I had the cookie pie and it was delicious! And vegan too, highly recommend

Great place offering a wide selection of plant based food of which I have yet to try as today was my first visit. I ordered Thai Green Curry to take away. So yummy, good portion size and very reasonable price!
J. P.
Their burgers are nice and greasy, everything that you would want to treat yourself with when you get fast food. The sweet potato chips tasted nice as they appeared to be fried to exquisite levels. However as this is fast food you'd expect the service to be a bit quicker as we had to wait over half an hour for the food to arrive when the cafe was not even that busy.

Can't recommend this place enough. Worth visiting Southampton just to go here. All of the food was incredible, they have a great selection of baked goods and were very accommodating to changes made in my order (didn't charge extra for swapping out pesto for hummus or swapping the bun for halloumi in my burger). Highly recommend the beetroot latte and mango chai too.
H. M.
Very nice tasty non meat food! Bread is slightly seeded to excess, however I'm willing to say it's still a lovely place. Reduce the seedage by ~10% and it's perfect
S.
Lovely food and lovely staff. Well worth a visit if you're nearby. Would highly recommend the "chicken" burger.

Very delicious food, and everything plant based. Price is acceptable, and also you could do click and collect or delivery order. Staff members are very kind and helpful.

Really tasty sandwich - the New Yorker Reuban. Very gooey, [vegan] cheesy and with a yummy sauerkraut bite 😋 staff very friendly too. Nice for a lunchtime treat.
A. M.
We ordered chocolate fudge cake and iced matcha latte (oat Milk).
The latte was perfect, tasty, refreshing.
Cake really disappointed us. Was really dry, from sides really crusty probably because it was laying there for a while. Sweetness and chocolate taste was alright.
Hopefully this will be improved and cakes going to be fresh next time because we like to visit this café

Very affordable
Beautiful staff and good music

Delicious, affordable and the tastiest scrambled tofu I’ve ever had!

Been here loads of times, and each time I have been it has been amazing. Everything is vegan and the staff are really friendly, would definitely recommend it ☺️👍

Always a pleasure to bring omni friends here, and I'm always very excited for the specials!! Dog friendly and while accessibility is a bit of an issue with the wheelchair, the staff always help any way they can.
s. b.
The staff we very friendly x there was so much choice on the menu it was hard to decide x they had a cake bar at the back of the shop so we chose cakes to take home as we were super full with our mains x I chose one of the salad bowls x with about 8 different ingredients sooo amazing I couldn't it it all x I'm definitely going back to try one of the other amazing menu choices 😋😋

This is a great place for lunch or dinner. Very friendly staff. Good prices and all vegan food. Great atmosphere and the ice cream and cakes are really yummy.

Super tasty vegan food, nice atmosphere and great prices. The 'Big Thrive Bowl' is incredible, so good! Would absolutely recommend, they do have plenty of gluten-free and soy-free options as well. Staff is very friendly :) will visit again!

Great food, I just wish other venues could offer as much choice on menus for vegans. This cafe proves how it can be done, and done well

I’ve been going to thrive at least once a month for the last year and there’s never been a meal that I haven’t loved. Thanks for being the best vegan option around 💜
D. B.
Absolutely awesome food and I'm not even vegan!! Highly recommended the loaded fries.
