A steakhouse restaurant to celebrate . A comfortable atmosphere with friendly staff. The food was good, the steak was made to perfection; although I would have preferred it was sizzling hot. The family enjoyed the food also, which is always a plus. London prices however, I will recommend. Be aware, if you order a cocktail called 'Mai tai' say 'your tai' or the joke will be on you!

Had the 50oz Tomahawk steak off of the specials board. It came with 3 sides and peppercorn sauce, we also ordered the truffles amd cheese. The steak was superbly cooked with a beautiful taste and char on it. Fantastic food and service. Will definitely come again.Highly recommended.

Food was good, I did ask for a medium rare stake but it was medium. Starter and dessert was really good though. Service slightly disappointed as we were sat at the back but the staff hardly comes over after other when food are being served. Also order drinks after meal which never showed up. What a great find this was. My wife, and I were on a mid-week get away in Southampton towards the end of lockdown. Everything was open, but not quite back to normal. We were looking for somewhere to get a proper lunch experience, but mid-afternoon. Neither lunch, nor dinner. Online research looked promising, and so were the hours they were open. So we decided to give it a try. We were not to be disappointed..! We booked for 3pm without any problem at all. The restaurant itself is located on Oxford St. This is a pedestrianised stretch of road filled with restaurants, and bars with a casino at the far end. All have ample outdoor seating with no traffic noise or fumes to contend with. Although it was a nice day, we elected to eat inside sitting next to a large open window. The décor was Mediterranean. Patterned wood tables, and decorative bar. Booth tables were also available. A large specials blackboard in easy to view position. Having already had a beer across the road, we selected a bottle of Malbec from the wine list. This was delivered swiftly with large spotless glasses. We were out for a foodie experience, so were in no rush. Having taken our time to decide from the rather inclusive menu. Though labelled as a steak house. There is something on the menu for every taste. I made the early decision to not have a starter and was glad of it as portion size here is good. I ordered the 10oz Ribeye Steak and my wife the Pan Fried Duck Breast. Both were prepared within an acceptable time. My steak was delivered to the table hot, and perfectly cooked to Medium. It was accompanied by a good sized portion of triple cooked chips, mushrooms, grilled garlic bulb ( nice touch ), a tomato, and some peppers. Topped off with a pot of peppercorn sauce. The meal looked attractive, and appealing. Well presented, perfectly cooked using high quality ingredients. The steak was gorgeously grilled with a slight crispy char to it yet was tender enough that no steak knife was needed to cut it. The chips were golden in colour, crispy outside and fluffy inside. Peppercorn sauce was perfectly balanced. My wife’s duck also came beautifully presented. Cooked a tender pink, sliced, and atop a generous serving of crushed potatoes surrounded by a lake of Plum & Port sauce. It looked fantastic, and as she left nothing, I can only conclude it was as high a standard as my steak. Having finished the meal. We took a break to enjoy some more of the wine before ordering the Spanish & Hampshire Cheese Board. Once again this was a fantastic presentation of cheeses and biscuits. You need to see the accompanying photos to appreciate the presentation. We rounded out the meal with Espresso and Brandy. Great flavoured coffee with brandy in warmed glasses. Service was personal, and attentive without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was clean as were the menus, glasses, cutlery, and toilets. Place was airy, and not at all stuffy. Would also be suitable for people with mobility issues. We enjoyed a fantastic meal experience. Next time we are visiting the area we will be sure to book again. Thank you for a great afternoon.

Stumbled across this place when visiting our daughter who's at Uni in Southampton. What a fantastic family owned and run restaurant. The food is absolutely top quality and its become our go to restaurant when in Southampton. Honestly some of the best steaks I've ever had. Staff are genuinely friendly and attentive and the have an outdoor seating area which is under cover with heaters too. We sat outside when we visited with our French Bulldog who got lots of attention and even a bowl of water brought out for her. If you want a top quality steak with friendly service in a family run restaurant then Carnicero is perfect.

I came here for my birthday meal with my family, my first ever visit. Had heard good reviews and it did not disappoint. Very busy for a Wednesday night so would recommend booking ahead. The team were friendly and attentative, food was a hit all round. My steak was perfect, and the blue cheese sauce to die for.

I went with the wife. It's not for a cheap meal out but you get what you pay for. Delicious steak, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Also, the only place on Oxford Street that had significant numbers of customers. Popularity speaks volumes I should think. All in all, great food and experience. Absolutely beautiful food! We had the chateaubriand steak with sides of truffle mac and cheese, onion rings and orange rocket salad. Everything was delicious, steak was rare as requested and melted in the mouth. Staff were a delight also. Can't wait to come back!

Excellent quality of food, and excellent service. Waiting staff were friendly and relaxed, and our dishes were spot on. There is a good selection of entrees, and a variety of steaks for mains. I had fish from the specials board and it was cooked perfectly, as was my partner's sirloin steak. Another table had the mixed grill and it looked amazing. They also have a decent selection of wines, which are suggested against different dishes.

We don’t go for steak that often so when we do it needs to be good. Struck gold with Carnicero! We didn’t book but the team still squeezed a table into the bookings to accommodate us on a busy Saturday night. Great buzzing atmosphere, cool decor and helpful, professional and attentive staff. Our food was wonderful, we both chomped the 10oz Hampshire tbone and it was cooked to perfection. Very highly recommended.

Amazing restaurant! My boyfriend and I visited for our one year anniversary and it was absolutely brilliant! The setting was perfect! We had the sharing rump tail and the price is reasonable for the amount of steak and quality of steak. My boyfriend has a severe nut allergy and the staff couldn’t have made us feel more welcome and safe when dining, they assured us what was safe for him to eat and what wasn’t. We enjoyed it so much that 3 weeks later, I brought my grandparents when they visited, they thoroughly enjoyed it too! Couldn’t fault this restaurant, the manager is so lovely (he remembered my boyfriend’s allergies from weeks before!) and love the family feel to this restaurant! Much better than the other local steak restaurants, highly recommend for any nice occasion and we will be returning many times :)

Eaten here a few times. Always a bit surprised by prices. Once you accept how much you will be spending the food on offer represents a reasonable value, both in quality and quantity. I always roll out stuffed and wishing I hadn't eaten as much as I did and wanting to eat more. We have had some issues with speed of service especially when sitting outside. I would not eat here if you need to eat quickly or have to eat at a certain time, but if you can hand over your evening to it it's well worth it. The food deserves to be savoured anyway.

Exquisite food, the chateaubriand was amazing. Cut and placed over superb bread. The onion rings were a particular favourite with the accompanying sides. The scallops for starter are absolutely delectable. This is an absolute must to go to. The service was great. All covid precautions were taken, a temperature check and NHS check in and masks away from tables were inforced.

Frankly a good 4stars. It is busy first thing, yes popular being we were 7pm on a Thursday- more like a Saturday. It's quite loud due to number of tables and popular so hard to have it all in life! The food was excellent , yep good value together with fair priced drinks. The staff are very friendly and we found keen to please. It tends to empty a bit by @ 9-30 if you wish a little less noise but totally recommend giving the place a go.

My husband & I had a table booked for my birthday. We had fresh oysters, garlic bread & olives for starters. For main we each had steak, mine fillet and my husband had the T bone. The food was delicious, the oysters were fresh, the steaks, cooked to perfection and literally sweet, soft, juicy and melt in the mouth. The chips, onions rings and sauce were cooked again, to perfection. It was like having an orgasm of the tongue. This is the BEST meal we have ever had! Thank you so much. Went there for dinner and the food was good although a bit pricey. The only two things that did not impress me were that the place was extremely loud and noisy, I mean noisier than a normal restaurant, some people were literally shouting so they can hear each-other; and the staff seemed to be more interested in the larger groups rather that smaller parties like mine (just two people). I get that we won’t leave as much money as a large group but we are still paying customers.

I was expecting it to be ridiculously busy and a long wait for food, but it was quite literally the perfect evening! This was the first time my husband and I were able to go out for dinner with our family since Christmas 2019 and the food was amazing! Although to begin with there had been an error on their end with our booking they quickly adapted and ensured we got sat pretty promptly. There was a wait on the food of about an hour+ and I just want to say it was totally worth it ( although sooner is always better haha!). Our table had steaks, burgers and the chicken breast. My dad said (and I quote ) ' I think this is the best burger I have ever had' and he's pretty well travelled! All in all, friendly, genuine staff who look after you really well and a great buzz! We were so excited and so full when we left. I would 100% recommend and give them grace where due for how busy it is!!! Thank you again and will definitely be back with the husband!

One of the best steakhouse in the town we have been to by far. Beef is char-grilled, which adds so much flavor to the steak. Chips are thick and very tasty, perfectly baked/fried. And the calamari- is the bomb! The yummiest calamari in the world. Will difinitely come back again.

Best steak in Southampton! Honestly cannot fault this restaurant. We had the chateaubriand to share. The food was amazing and I was sad when I took my last mouthful of steak. I was tempted to order the mixed grill afterwards but I would never have fitted it all in as the portions are the perfect size to ensure you don't leave hungry. I will have that on our next visit, or the 50oz tomahawk!!!

The only thing that let it down is we were seated near a table of four people who were very drunk, loud and swearing profusely and no-one asked them to be quiet or leave. Not what you want when you're supposed to be on a romantic anniversary meal. Once the noisy table had left it was a more pleasant evening. The fillet steak was amazing, the best I've ever had. Prices are high but a lovely place to go as a treat.

Fantastic food, easily the best steaks we’ve had in this country outside on London. That said the safety measures they could/should be taking right now could be done better, only one member of staff was taking it seriously and the tables were far too close together given the other end of the restaurant was empty. Really friendly and accommodating service, nothing was too much trouble. Their sunday roast was the best we've had in a very long time with huge portion sizes and great value for money. When I advised I suffer from coeliac disease they went out of their way to create a gluten-free version which was just as great. Would highly recommend for dining any time of day.

It’s my go to for Southampton when not in London and even better than outside Southampton/abroad places. The guys know how to make their steaks or meat platters exactly how I want. We went on a busy night and it seemed the waiting staff were a little stretched. However, the menu's great, the ambience is good and the steaks are absolutely superb. Each of us had a different preference regarding the cooking of our steaks and without fail they were served exactly as ordered. The only real negative for me was wine by the glass. The list is good but the choice is 175ml or a bottle. I'd have preferred the option of the (nowadays common) 250ml but regardless I'll definitely be going back. A very enjoyable evening.

On arrival through the first door there was a member of staff sorting out some signs who didn’t greet us or look up we had to ask her ‘do we just walk in’ as usually at other restaurants there’s someone to greet us re. Covid info. She didn’t even look up from what she was doing and just said take your temperature with this wrist machine. She never asked us to sign in with the nhs app which I could see was on the wall and said just go in. On walking in there is no sign that tells you to wait or go sit and no One to greet us again so my partner had to go back out and ask her do we go find our own table or wait. Again she said just wait someone will be with you. Baring in mind we had booked a table online and they called us changing the time because they were full at 6:30 so we had to come at 6. So we finally get seated and are looking forward to our meal. We order two cocktails and our starters king prawns for my other half and chicken strips for myself and mains of steaks. The cocktails arrive after some time the Ribena cocktail tasted and looks like Ribena diluted no flavour and for £8.95 would not pick again. My partner had and old fashioned which he liked and it was very strong. A waitress approached and set down some rustic garlic bread and some glazed peppers. We look at each other confused is this complimentary or a mix up. We get her attention ‘We didn’t order this ‘ she goes away and comes back to say really sorry but there was a mix up you can keep this tho. Not really wanting it we pick at it whilst waiting for our starters. Which never arrive. Next our mains come out I say to the waitress we haven’t had our starters yet. She goes to take the steaks away at this point we are hungry and getting fed up I told her it’s fine just leave them as we are too hungry to wait again. The man who took our order which I think is owner/manager come over said he pressed the wrong thing and doesn’t Know what happened then walked off again. I just wish that they would if asked us at the time if we still wanted the starters that we ordered because we did. We ordered two more normal drinks as cocktails weren’t worth it. The steaks were delicious I had fillet my partner the t bone. That was the only part of the evening we enjoyed. I ordered a chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream. It tasted too rich for me or my other half to finish literally the richest brownie I’ve ever tasted. When it arrived a different waiter who seemed more friendly told us that this would be on him to apologise for the mix up. I really didn’t appreciate that because at the time we should have been asked if we would like to be compensated for the mix up or asked if we wanted our starters or offered drinks as my thoughts were well if I hadn’t ordered a dessert we wouldn’t have been compensated at all. We just nodded and accepted. Overall i do think for a restaurant in Oxford street it’s disappointing. We came home annoyed that we didn’t get to eat what we wanted and although the steaks were lovely and we understand mistakes can be made the communication from staff let it down. Wouldn’t go here again as too many other nice place you can have good steak.

Came across this little gem at the weekend for a late lunch. The waiter who served us.....Malik? - was just brilliant. Chatty, friendly, helpful and attentive with a great sense of humour. With family visiting recently I wanted to remedy the previously disappointing visit to a Southampton steakhouse (Steak of the Art, now closed) with a more satisfying experience. After extensively reading reviews I settled upon Carnicero and I was not disappointed. The bustling restaurant is decorated in a modern style, presenting a welcoming atmosphere. There is a good selection on the menu, with options for those less interested in steak, or in meat at all. I went for ribs in BBQ sauce to start, with a medium-rare sirloin as my main. The ribs and sauce were divine, if you enjoy the BBQ flavour it is worth going for this alone, I was speechless at the table. The medium-rare steak came with a well garnished plate, and was similarly delicious, although I will probably stick to my usual medium in the future. I highly recommend Carnicero. I am trying to plan when I can go back again!
