Well I used Trip Advisor to find the best place for Sunday Dinner in Southampton for Mother’s Day & Ceno Restaurant came top of the list so promptly booked a table for five. Wowsers, not only did it live up to the recommendation but exceeded all our expectations! One of the best meals I have ever had said the mother in question, we all agreed that this was one of the very best dining experiences and will be booking again as opposed to, would go again. I gave them 29 out of 30 based on my three courses and fellow guests felt the same. My starter of battered prawns was sublime, big juicy prawns in a delicate hand battered coating that could only be chef prepared on a delightful bed of salad with a lovely sweet chilli dressing. Mains was traditional roast beef, quality & taste of the meat as good as it gets, gorgeous vegetables roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding with copious amounts of mouth-watering gravy (I had to user a teaspoon to make sure I finished off all the gravy, licking the plate in public would have been too crude but di consider lol). So, the right portion size with quality ingredients make a roast to salivate over. Went for the plum crumble in custard, felt like a real crumble too, perfect balance of stodginess and sweetness with a light custard. Guests also had the delight of the sticky lamb in a lettuce bowl of gorgeous salad, roast pork & crème Brule’s to a chocolate brownie all getting praise like my courses. Service was excellent as was the ambiance, reluctant in some ways to give such a recommendation as too many people will know and will have difficulty in getting in in future visits but credit where credit due – I salute Ceno as a memorable dining experience and just can’t remember or think of a better experience.

Our second time dining at Ceno. The restaurant is modern and has a nice location. We had to wait a couple of minutes for our table, so we sat in the bar area. It was relatively busy and also quite loud in there because of the amount of people. However, overall the bar area was a nice place to have a drink before sitting, some couples were just drinking and never left the bar area. Moving on to our starters where we ordered a mixture to share. The scallops were really nice, the variant of garlic bread (that i can't remember) was also very good. Across the table, the Tempura prawns were also good. Moving on to mains, I had a steak with garlic mash, it was cooked nicely, overall a good cut of steak. My girlfriend had the duck, which was a huge portion, she couldn't finish it but she really enjoyed it. The duck was cooked nicely as well. To finish off with our Salted Caramel and Banoffee sundae with cookie crumble was very sweet, but very good. If you have a sweet tooth like us, we would recommend it! The other desserts are also good which we have had before. Overall, I can see why this restaurant is placed highly on tripadvisor and also other reviewing platforms.

Visited for the first time today with my wife. I had the ham eggs and chips with piccalilli, she had the meetball mozzarella sourdough. Both were simple options but were excellent: freshly prepared with high quality ingredients and a bit of a twist. The staff serving us were polite, friendly and helpful, and attended to us quickly and efficiently. It wasn't too busy, but there was good ambience. Highly recommended.

A nice place for a get together with friends, family or on your own, especially in the summer when you can sit out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine. Plus they have a decent tapas style menu selection to accompany that ice cold drink!

First time visiting Ceno after hearing good things from others. We were a group of 3 couples. Whole experience very nice. Nice area to have a drink in before going to sit at your table, Staff taking food orders very helpful with recommendations, food was more expensive than average restaurant but quality and portion size justifies! I had chicken and chorizo salad, which was very nice with good amount of chicken and chorizo (not all leaves!) Would have again! Flat breads (the boys shared 2 between 3) looked imense! All too full for what would probably be a great dessert!

We went there for dinner with my daughter when I visited her. The place looks nice, it’s got a big area to sit outside. Not every table was shaded so bear this in mind when planning a meal there on a hot day. It might be worth booking and requesting a specific table in advance. The place looked busy so clearly it is popular. The staff is friendly and the food was tasty. We had a chicken burger which was served with chips and slow and we also had salmon with spinach and pea risotto - quite unusual combination. I wasn’t wowed by the food, to be honest and I thought it was quite pricey for what it was (£15.50 for a chicken burger and few chips just to give you an example ..) but we still enjoyed it, finished it all and left feeling full.

A restaurant/bar located in Porstwood. You can park in the neighbouring hotel car park but don’t forget to enter your registration number at the bar! It has a wooden decking outdoor seating area which is pretty at night with the LED lights. The interior is bright, colourful & modern with plenty of seating. We visited during the EOHO campaign and it was quite busy., this however did not effect the service at all. We had a starter as well as a main and usually finish with a dessert but I can honestly say I couldn’t eat another thing. The food was tasty & well presented and the staff were attentive though they were not wearing any masks. The price was good & what I would expect during the campaign to attract customers to return, unlike other establishments that we have visited. A definite recommendation & will be returning soon.

Have been a customer for many years before & after the current refurbishment, which is super cool & very chic especially for Portwood . (Eating in or outside) The food may be expensive in some cases but you can carefully choose from the menu & still have a reasonable priced meal. The quality of food is very high & well presented & served at the correct temperature. A reasonable to good selection of wines & beers is available. Service is efficient & well delivered with customer friendly service. Particular staff have been there many years which can be a positive sign, sorrow to sse Louise retire an asset & wish her all the best for the future. So for that social drink , satisfying meal or a culinary delight this restaurant should not disappoint!

My partner and I spent the weekend in Southampton and this place was next door to our hotel. It is a lovely place, has a great outdoor area, its beautiful inside, the staff were really friendly and the food is amazing. I am still dreaming about that Cajun swordfish.

After a very long day of travel from Sicilia to London and then into Southampton, we checked into our hotel and asked where we might find a nice place to dine. Lucky us, Ceno is located right next door. A dream come true, this was the most enchanting restaurant that we experienced during our time in Europe. We appreciated the soothing ambiance and friendly staff who attended to us promptly, as we enjoyed watching every table become filled with locals who love this place, for obviously good reasons. Everything that we ordered was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Delicious! The music was at just the right volume, with selections that made us feel as though we were receiving a massage for the soul. As the sun went down, the interior lighting was perfectly suited to induce complete relaxation. Although the restaurant was filled to capacity with upbeat, youthful patrons, the noise level was subdued, yet energetic. We live in the U.S., on the central coast of California. If only Ceno were not so far away! One of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time, although we have many fine restaurants here, and in San Francisco, just one hour away. Highly recommended!

I organised my companies Christmas get together at Ceno Lounge, which was our 3rd visit here. I booked this back in August so as not to miss out, and they were very prompt in replying, with a nice touch of remembering us, and knew the menu/buffet we were looking for, and that some of the staff were Coeliac and required a GLUTEN FREE menu, offering to do all the food this way, so everyone could enjoy everything, which is amazing, as always a nightmare at other places. I appreciated how very helpful and professional they were, and took food intolerance seriously and wanted everyone to enjoy. On arrival on the evening we were welcomed and the place was buzzing, the lighting was good, decorations fantastic, and wonderful atmosphere, and helpful and friendly staff and bar staff. I was met with the Manager who was very helpful and professional, making sure that everything was in place to make our evening easy, and the evening went with no issues. We had 22 people attend and we had a buffet rather than a sit down meal, to allow the team to move around. The food came out at 8.30 as requested and it just kept coming with Spiced potatoes, Spicy sticky lamb in Lettuce boats, Meatballs, Chicken skewers, platters of sandwiches and much much more, and all gluten free. The non coeliac instructors commented on how wonderful the food was and did not know it was gluten free, which is brilliant as everyone was happy. There was so much food we offered to some other patrons as to not waste, so make sure you go with an empty stomach. The price was very reasonable and overall a fantastic 3rd visit here, and we will be booking for next year as so easy to deal with, no fuss, great food, great atmosphere. Definitely recommend to anyone for a get together and they take food intolerance seriously and aim to please. Well done everyone and thank you for a memorable Christmas do. Beautifully designed interior, offering a bright and relaxing experience...be that simply having a drink, or enjoying some of the offerings on the menu. An eclectic mix of young and old, weekday lunchtime sees an older clientele, whilst evenings and weekends tend to attract a younger, student based patron. Old but gold! A long standing favourite. With so many places to eat in Southampton, we have regularly found ourselves back at Ceno's. Food, staff and the setting is excellent. Just ensure you register your car registration with the restaurant if you are parking in the hotel car park.

I don't think contemporary is really the right description for the food style as it was more soul food esque in a fancier format. I had the shredded lamb salad and the BBQ pulled pork and I couldn't fault anything but the sweet corn salsa but I guess that's more of a value judgement as I just didn't like the taste.
