Just tucking into the cod and chips now, fish is perfectly portioned, flaky and tastes of the sea, lovely and fresh. Batter is really crisp even after driving 10 minutes to get home, everything was cooked to order. Temperature is good and the chips are tasty. Lovely fish and chips dinner Update June 2022, after a fun family day out to the unwrapped event, treated with a fish and chips with a bit of of a Saveloy sausage and curry sauce. Really fresh fish can definitely taste this, lovely batter crisp, not oily at all and flavour is outstanding. Chips were good, Saveloy toasty and lovely curry sauce. Keep up the good work.

We always get our chippy tea from J Henry and it’s always lovely. We got married a couple weeks ago, and decided to use them to feed our guests. How they managed to cook 83 meals is mind blowing to me. The handover was super smooth and fast and everyone enjoyed their meals. My friend, who had travelled over from America, who has never had fish and chips before was super impressed, saying it was delicious! Another friend, who was a vegetarian until she was tempted by a battered sausage, said it was the best battered sausage she ever had! Thank you to all who helped cook our meals, it was great and so yummy. Best chip shop around.

Been calling here for years, always good food. Unfortunately they are now prioritising the delivery services and you have to wait a long time. I called in for 2 sausages and chips which were all ready, but I had to wait for them to be dished up., after ordering and paying, for 20 minutes! While they prepared the orders for just eat etc.

Fancied fish and chips. Ordered small cod and standard chips. Cod decent size and crunchy. Alot of chips - i store left overs in fridge and flash them under grill 5 mins to refresh made 3 meals - no waste. Friendly staff, hardly any wait. Parking available nearby.

Ordered from here tonight for the first time and I gotta say it was the best fish I think I’ve ever had! I was skeptical about how it would be when it arrived, as I used Deliveroo, but the batter was still crispy and nothing needed reheating, so credit to the delivery driver too. I ordered the Large Haddock which I would recommend and some chicken strips (which was just as good). Definitely will be going here again for the Friday fish and chips. 5 stars!

This chippy is absolutley amazing, the chips have a mix of soft and crispy which is quite perfect. The chips are not to starchy infact they are quite prefect. The fish has a golden flacky batter that melts in the mouth, the batter is never soggy on any of my visits and the food is always hot and smells great, the sausages are great portion sizes and are not to tough but taste great. One problem is the chips portion sizes have seemed to get smaller especially with the children meals, the shop is very professionally run and is my go to chippy, the prices for the food is very low and is still good quality. I have never bought fish and chips from any other shop and reccomend this to all of my friends many of which live a few miles away. They all say that they would travel 100 miles for this chip shop. If i could choose any chip shop in the world i would choose none other than J henrys fish and chips. I am privileged to have such a godsend of a chippy local to me and would love to praise you all for your tremendous efforts in the fish and chips ecomony and industry

Had some cod and chips lunch specials.........not bad at all! The only criticism I would have is the chips seemed a bit on the old side, not fresh, hence 4 stars. That said, the cod was lovely and perfectly cooked. I mean it's £4.99 so excellent value!! J Henry's has always been there and they have always been friendly, welcoming and professional guys. It's good to support a local business and their success speaks for itself. Good for them! I'll definitely be going back, just hope to get some better chips next time :-D

Ordered for the first time the other day as we haven't yet found our 'Go-To' F&C shop. THIS IS IT!!! The fish was flaky, juicy, with an incredibly crisp batter even after we got home, unlike many others which end up soggy. The chips are the perfect mix of soft and crispy which is perfect as I like soft and my partner loves the crisp! Mushy peas are home made and delicious. Great offers on. Really friendly service to boot, we are now customers for life. We are even ordering again tonight (twice in one week, it's THAT good!). Thank you guys!

Been several times - chips are good, fish can be a bit soggy / underdone - especially when busy. When its been served in a box (instead of a paper bag) its tasted better - maybe the steam can escape to prevent it from getting soggy? Trade off though is less chips though - at least thats what its felt like

Wow! We visited J-Henry's for a fish and chip supper when staying at Fairthorne Manor campsite. I wish I'd taken pictures of the food before enjoying it. We had 2 cod, 2 jumbo sausage and 2 large chips for four people, and there were leftovers. The food was excellent and such generous portions...value for money! Fish and chips the way they should be! Just recieved the chicken box meal from here, I'm not one for complaining, but I'd like to point this out, it doesn't state anywhere on this meal that the chicken is Southern Fried, if it had I wouldn't have bought this, as I do not like it, it was also very greasy, I was disappointed and went hungry, also the sweet chilli dip had a weird taste and was full of mayo...

It is one of the best chip shop in town the other one down the road is owned by them still but that one is abit manky and disgusting but this one is tip top quality fish and chips have a decent amount of choice on drink and food they do have seats and tables outside but sometimes they get full in like 30 mins only another for 3 groupz of people
