We booked in advance as we have got a big group. The location is easy to find with a pay car park nearby. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great and food were delicious beside the lamb dish which tasted like mushy lamb meat. Good selection of tapas. Overall it was a good experience.

It’s been a while since I was last here but forgot to give it a review… …Just opposite the Red Funnel Ferry terminal is this fantastic place for a drink outside in the sun and for a continental style meal. I had the best tasting garlic bread in four slices placed in a woven mini basket 🧺 I then had a delicious salad style dish as a main and a San Miguel beer. It’s a popular place for dining in and catches the sun during the day outside for a cool drink. Plenty of seating four to a table or two with upper seating tables too. I will definitely go again and recommend it for impromptu visit or a booking.

Came to La Regata a couple of weeks ago on a Monday evening for a birthday meal. The food was delicious and the service was great albeit a bit slow after our mains, waiting for dessert towards the end of the evening. We had a few tapas plates to start as we had ordered the Paella for 2 which has a slight wait. All the tapas we had were amazing and the Paella was so flavoursome. It was nicer than some we’ve had it Spain! There was plenty of it and not shy on the seafood, I’d say it could serve 3 if you’ve already had starters! I would definitely come back and I can’t wait to try all the other tapas!

Food was lovely but portions for the mains a bit small as we left hungry. Staff were friendly and helpful. Obviously not as authentic as proper Spanish tapas, but definitely tasty all the same. Would recommend going earlier in the day as dinner time got really busy very quickly which left servers rushing around and forgetting some tables (ours being one of these when it came to desert). We didn't mind because we were enjoying the music and atmosphere, but some others might. Overall lovely experience.

Best tapas and Paella, really good service and a lovely venue. There could be a few more vegan options however the vegan options they do have are really nice! Have visited many times over the last few years and have always had a lovely meal. It's a little pricey but worth it.

I always love going here. I was there last weekend with family. It's so nice to go back after 2 years. I highly recommend this place always amazing food. The only downside is make the sangria a little stronger please it tastes like fruit juice. Two pitchers and didn't even feel it had any if much alcohol. Otherwise everything is perfect.

Great service, the food is first rate. Its not cheap but you pay for what you get which is fine. Nice decor and staff very polite. My wife and I enjoyed it so much we return within the week.

We walked into it almost randomly after a pretty long day. The food simply melted in our mouths, however it is the service the place should be proud of: it felt that the waiters are always there for you, yet you don't get disturbed, as they pick up on small hints and approach only when you need them. Highly recommended!

Lovely restaurant with authentic ambience. Noisy which is also typical of a tapas bar, so conversation was a challenge. Overal service was good, but there were extended dwells between orders which is why I marked them down. The food was delicious and hot when it did arrive, but if they expect a busy night, then it should be catered for.

Very nice food and beautiful setting. The service was amazing, especially considering how many there was of us and how busy the restaurant was. There was 20 of us and everyone got the right dishes and they were still warm. Food was very tasty. Definitely looking forward to returning.

Good taste (not the rice and the embutidos) but a little pricey. All the food and 2 desserts £50. The restaurant closes at 3pm so you have to be very quick as the kitchen closes at 2.30pm!

Delicious Spanish food with friendly staff, not too long a wait (visited on a Monday evening). The menu has a small 'mains' section and a much larger selection of tapas, great for sharing or of you can't make up your mind! Nice traditional tapas bar near Ocean village. We couldn't order the paella because it was over an hour's wait and our booking was only for an hour and a half so none of us could order it. We did however get a mix of tapas dishes which were still delicious and very filling. We had a vegan in our group who struggled for options slightly but there were a couple of things available to her. The staff were polite and service was quick although we did have to chase missed parts of our order. Overall I enjoyed my meal here and would consider visiting again and would recommend bit to anyone who enjoys traditional tapas

Absolutely amazing! I’ve been here a few times over the past year and the service is always spot on, the food is fantastic - large food portions for tapas, tasty and well presented. From someone who’s travelled to Spain continuously for the last 12 years, this is one of the best tapas I’ve ever experienced.

It's nice for a little stop off. Service is a little slow for my liking. We had 45 minutes spare. Tried ordering drinks at the bar but were told to sit down. By the time we eventually got through ordering and being served we only had 15 minutes to enjoy them. It really wasn't busy either.

I had a meal here on 23rd July 2021 - a busy friday night. I was staying at a nearby hotel an didn't fancy the hotel food - and I like Spanish food. The restaurant was hectically busy and a bit disorganized. Our order for drinks and starters was taking quickly but we had to make a nuisance of ourselves to get the main food order taken. The food arrived within a reasonable time for us and the nearby tables. We ordered tapas which were very good and included some items I've never tried before -some of the best tapas I've had. Also the meal was brought in 1 go rather than dribs and drabs which was nice. The deserts were also very good and not too expensive. Overall a very good meal and I would come again.

The food is of a very high standard; and brings back warm memories of traveling throughout Spain. Two to three tapas dishes are usually more than enough per person; the difficulty you have is choosing between them. The pork ribs are amazing! Everything was just marvellous! My friend booked table for 5 last Sunday evening as it was her birthday. From the very beginning till the end we all felt so special and very welcomed. A massive Thank to our friendly waitress Olga from Portugal. Keep it up girl, you have made our time so great. An amazing Paella 🥘! First class. Complement to the Head chef Christina. Personally I think I had the best seafood Paella ever, better than I had while I was in south of Spain. Perfect 👌 I would highly recommend that magnificent place to anybody! Thank you La Regata!

The service was extremely slow, I was a solo diner as working in the area, waiters kept ignoring me, seems larger groups took priority. Food was lovely when it arrived but I had to wait 45 mins for a starter…and then another 40 mins for main - I think mostly because I was dining solo. They were very busy but still.

Had a fantastic tapas meal here last night Alioli was way to strong though! The stuffed dates and meatballs were the clear favs! Went to la regata for valentine's, what a beautiful restaurant the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is absolutely amazing we choose to have tapas. As a vegetarian I am used to going to places and having the just a few options to choose from but at La Regata there were many delicious options. I had vegetable paella and a couple of tapas dishes and my boyfriend had lots of meat and seafood choices. The atmosphere was relaxed but you also felt very treated. It was as if I was sat in a tapas restaurant in Barcelona. The staff were very attentive. Thank you La Regata!

Good food, with a notably wide selection of tapas. Even on a rainy night in Southampton there was a touch of the Costas in the food and atmosphere of this most enjoyable restaurant. One slight downside was the mixed service, with one of the waitresses being decidedly dour.

The menu is extensive and the tapas dishes took.me straight back to my days of working in Spain. The food is wonderful. I had two tapas dishes both of them outstanding. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be visiting here again.

The restaurant and atmosphere is good. The tapas dishes were quite mediocre and bland (even though one said it was spicy), though the main "specials" were much better. We didn't seem to get a dedicated waitress either, with 3 or 4 different ones attending to us through the meal. OK, but probably won't go back.

We were waiting for a delayed red funnel ferry one evening (incidently not worthy of 5*) and had 40 mins max to eat. We saw La Regata opposite and thought we'd give it a go. Firstly, the staff (all of them) were so friendly, helpful, accommodating and understanding. Our waitress waited just out of view for us to decide our order and took it immediately (we already had our drinks before we sat down! ). Then the food arrived 5 to 10 mins later. Wow! Everything was delicious. Honestly eaten food as good as that for while. When you consider the price for 4 dishes and 2 beers came to under £30, the food was outstanding and the staff fantastic this deserves nothing less than 5 stars. If I am in Southampton again I will gladly return, hopefully with more time to enjoy it!

We had, for starters, marinated anchovies (they absolutely amazing, the taste was perfect), grilled sardines and, for our daughter, Albondigas (beef meatballs in marinated sauce) with patatas fritas. A culinary delice. As for main courses, I had pork shoulder & potatoes & broccoli (btw, best pork shoulder I have ever eaten; crispy on the outside and soft on the inside), my husband had dorada & potatoes. For desert, we recommend churros con chocolate; the churros are very good, with a dust of cinnamon on top, absolutely delicious. We ordered 3 portions of Albondigas to go and continued our Spanish culinary day later in the evening. The staff are friendly and the chef is a genius. So, we definitely highly recommend the restaurant for Spanish food lovers.

It was my first experience here tonight for my birthday. Recommended by my sister who had been before... it did NOT disappoint... my family (8 of us) have all left completely stuffed and happy, having tried a number of the tapas dishes... the star of the show was the "Datiles Cabrales - Medjoul dates filled with a mild Cantabria cheese, wrapped with panceta then deep fried with breadcrumbs. Served with a sweet chili dip..." absolutely mouth watering! The staff were friendly, polite, patient and accommodating for the large table we had. Grateful for the baby changing facilities as we had 2 babies with us and we weren't sure before we got there... I shall return again with my husband for date night and leave baby at home to enjoy the fab wine selection next time...

Had the seafood paella for two which was lovely having very chunky seafood and a good flavour, we found it a good size for 2 and half people so were very satisfied! Lastly a shout out to the Pedro Ximenez they serve; a most beautiful digestif and they give a very decent amount! Away from the food the interior is very nice and warming as well as the staff being very friendly, attentive and, polite.

I had much better tapas before. I give it 3 stars because the churros were super tasty. I could come back just for that.

We are from Spain, and were vacationing in England for a couple of weeks. My kids are very picky and had eaten very little in the previous days as nothing tasted the same as at home, not even spaghetti... We found this Spanish restaurant and went there for dinner, but when we arrived, there were no tables available. It was a Friday night, and apparently it's a hot spot for dinner in Southampton. I practically begged the waitress to let us have dinner at the bar, as that's what we Spaniards do when we eat "raciones". She was very nice and set us up in the bar stools. They have a selection of Spanish beers, and the food was great, it tasted much like any restaurant in Spain, "croquetas" and "boquerones" were delicious, also albondigas, "patatas con chorizo" and calamares (although we don't put pimenton on them here in Madrid). We had a terrific evening, the kids loved everything, and the bill was 40 £!!

Don't ask for the cod croquetes, they were never close to cod. Its just deep fried seafood mix.. Also, if you ask for a mojito make sure the employee with semi coweflower ears makes it (apologies as I didn't get the gentleman's name) but he made some of the best mojito ever. Angel showed up in the end and asked me to refer him on the review (first time I saw him during the whole meal) so there you go buddy. Go team 👍
