Eat in meal for joint birthdays, actual steaks were lovely, few minus points: 1) starter mix ups but resolved quickly 2) coleslaw had no sauce 3) steak knives were huge but not as sharp as would have expected 4) had to ask for glass with my bottle beer, would have expected to be asked 5) cheap quality napkins for somewhere that expects a dress code. Server was friendly so plus point. Not sure I’d bring super posh friends but it was nice to dress up for the occasion.

Went for a Friday evening meal with my wife. Seated promptly to our table and offered the various menus. Food and service was very good. Waiting staff very friendly and polite. May been seen as expensive, but you get what you pay for here. A very enjoyable visit.

I came here for a 40th birthday party, this is my second visit to this restaurant and again I was very impressed with how friendly and attentive the staff were. There was a big table of us and they managed to take our orders and bring our food in a timely manner. The steak was so tender and soft and the onion bread is a must. Thursday nights are date night, so you can get 3 courses for £28, depending on what you have, as some have a small supplement charge. An enjoyable evening all in all, apart from the fire alarm going off and them having to evacuate everyone, luckily we had finished our meals by then. Worth a visit, for special occasions, as it is quite pricey.

The food here is excellent, the steaks are incredible and from a customer experience was great. The server messed up one drink (gin requested to have the lemonade on the side, but the gin came drowned in lemonade), but that was the only fault. The steaks were great, and allergies were catered for.

With international travel off the cards since 2020 we've been travelling around the UK a fair bit and normally find ourselves in a Miller & Carter. I normally come away with a feeling of being closer to God after a meal at this chain. I was left a little deflated this time. I like my steak on the more cooked end of medium, and definitely without 'running' blood. The steak was OK, but not cooked enough, probably another few minutes would have done it. No peppercorn sauce (this should an arrestable offence for a steakhouse 😄 ) That said. Service was excellent and maybe just an off day.

Had lovely lunch today. Food was superb and we were served by Martin who was very courteous and friendly. We told him we were having a celebratory wedding anniversary lunch and he asked how long we'd been married. When he brought our desserts to the table he also brought out a slate with a happy anniversary greeting piped on it. Such a nice touch and a thoughtful thing to do. A lovely lunch and reasonably priced.

Came here for a big family get together. We were a big table and on entry we were all welcomed by the smiling host. We were staggered coming in so we went for drinks at the bar first and they were excellent who let us run a tab and they had 2 people making our drinks. Once we got seated the waiter who greeted us was very informative on the starters mains and desserts and knowing what wine accompanies which meats. The food was incredible, the service was excellent, despite being a big table the waiter spoke with everyone on the table. Just a great meal and can't wait to come back and have the rib eye again.

If you enjoy lovely surroundings, fantastic food, and great service in a "club atmosphere" go to Miller & Carter Southampton. We've had a magnificent lunch there today. Our waitress was Kelly. So friendly and helpful. Parking is ample and easy. Needless to say we'll be returning very soon. The menu is extensive and wide-ranging. We couldn't wish for more. What a beautiful location for a pub. Huge restaurant areas with very helpful and polite staff. 1 starter shared, 2 main meals and 2 drinks £50. Brilliant evening. Food very good. This place could do with a lick of paint, change of carpets etc as it looks a little warn. Thanks very much for the evening we both enjoyed ourselves.

My husband and I came here for dinner last night. The women at the door were so welcoming and asked if it was a special occasion, which is was as it was our first date night since having a baby - it was nice to be asked! We were then served by Marcel who gave exceptional service. He was very knowledgeable of the steak cuts and you could tell had a lot of waitering experience as he was flawless. I took my dad and grandma out for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and guided to our table by Martin. And not long after, our lovely waitress, Lisa, offered us drinks and helped us with the menu on deciding what to eat. We came here yesterday for my mums 60th birthday and everything was just perfect, the staff couldn't have been more helpful right from when we took the balloons and cake up earlier in the day. Nothing was too much trouble. lauren was fantastic she was professional yet so friendly. We had a brilliant lunch all the food was delicious without any wait times. The service was second to none and we will definitely be returning. Another member of staff also went out of his way to get us a variety of sauces which was lovely. Unfortunately when my main meal was brought to the table the rib eye was well cooked and hot but the chips and onion loaf were cold. I tend not to send food back to the kitchen when the waitress asked how everything was i mentioned about the cold fries and she offered to get some more but by then I was half way through so didn't bother. Sky really helped me to arrange everything so that it was a very chilled evening. (Wedding anniversary). From taking my order over the phone and payment to having it all set up on the table and starters ready for us once we had seated...the waitress was fully aware of the arrangements and checked in on us but knew she didn't need to keep coming for additional drink orders as already pre-arrnaged... I can't say that there was anything further that could have been improved for us on this visit.

Been here plenty of times and other M&C restaurants around UK. It's always decent, standard steak joint. Sad to see they are skimping back on the salad wedge dressings (used to be heaving with blue cheese/honey mustard, now maybe a sprinkle...).. even the sticky toffee pudding used to be swimming in toffee sauce and this time it was maybe a tablespoon? And wee tiny ball of ice cream? I honestly thought when they brought it they were gonna bring the rest of the sauce seperate... but nothing came man. Nothing came. Rise in the cost of living or poor kitchen prep? I don't know. But I'll probably be back to find out. On the bright side the steak was ordered rare, and arrived rare. No faults on that front. Staff always lovely, vibe always sound. Please bring back the sticky toffee sauce portions of old , and use a smaller plate for the single crispy pork bun it'll look better . Thought front of house scranned the second bun as half the plate was empty . Tasted good tho

Wifey and myself went 2 days ago as a treat to celebrate slogging it through 18 years of marriage (joke). Every single item ordered was cooked and presented to our liking and left me feeling very content. The service from our waitress Karen was excellent. I like staff to have a bit of personality. Alltogether a lovely experience. Granted this place is expensive but everything is at the moment. I personally would like it a bit posher, maybe table cloths would be an improvement, also the menus are just printed on a4 paper and the font on them is sooo small. I take it paper menus are a product of covid , but would rather a something smarter. all that aside Well Done we will call again when we have earned a treat

Food was great. I was surprised to get a text saying smart dress required, when we got there it was obvious very few read the text? As for the areas, the floor was far from clean and the toilets were a disgrace with broken toilet seat. Not the best experience.

Food was delicious, service was decent, however, I ordered the fillet mignon surf and turf and when food came the lobster tail had been forgotten. The server apologised and stated it would be 6-8 minutes to wait, which wasn’t ideal due to already having the fillet mignon. I wasn’t charged for the lobster tail and so i was satisfied with how it was dealt with, it just would have been nice to have the food together.

Table booked under the name of Adam Vye whose birthday we were celebrating. We visited the Bursledon restaurant for the first time on Saturday 29th October for a birthday celebration. Our experience, right from when we checked in, was professional. We had a few drinks at the bar, which was queue free. We had a three course meal and every course was excellent. The Fillet Mignon was exceptional! All of the staff were polite and professional, nothing was too much trouble for them. We would all like to say a massive thank you to Leila (the deputy manager) who made our evening such fun. She has a wicked sense of humour and is a real credit to Miller and Carter. We would most definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be returning again very soon. Thank you all again. Andy and Janice Brockett

A little disappointed really. Food was 'ok', the steaks were not cooked quite right and the onion side was greasy. Creme brulee was served fridge cold wirh a soggy top which was a shame. Table was literally next to the toilet door so there was an unpleasant aroma... The staff were nice enough, but not overly helpful really. The best part was the lettuce wedges with blue cheese! Would return again to give it another chance as it wasn't terrible, but overhyped I think.

Really enjoyed my food and the hostess was an absolute legend, but I was slightly put off at the end as the waitress was very patronising. She ripped the card machine out my hands and as I still had my hand on my card, the card came out and the payment failed. She then took my card off me, and tried to do the contactless payment herself, which felt like a huge violation! And when that didn't work she gave the card machine back and was very condescending asking me not to take my card out this time! Took the machine with my card still in it but at least this time I knew not to try and protect my card. We came to this restaurant as a group of four on Wednesday evening for a birthday celebration. We were not to be disappointed. Having arrived early for our 730pm booking. An aperitif seemed in order, choosing a nice booth table in the bar area we ordered our drinks. We ordered a mix of cocktails and beer. The Estrella was fresh, cold, and clear in a clean branded glass. The Porn Star Martinis were served to the top of the glass, silky smooth, fruity and with fresh passion fruit slice garnish. I have eaten at, at least three other M & C restaurants around the country and these were the best made cocktails I have seen thus far. Well done. After a couple of drinks we moved off to the table for our dinner. We were soon seated at a very comfortable table. Our waitress Sue came over and introduced herself. At this point we ordered our wine . As this was a birthday celebration and no one needed to drive. We ordered a Magnum bottle of Mouton Cadet red. This is a rather robust French red, light and dry but full of depth. 12.5% ABV. Soon we were ordering our meal. Two of us ordered from the Festive menu and the other two from the normal menu. Unfortunately, the Turkey main was not available so can’t make comment on that. However our steaks were exceptional. Succulent and tasty, cooked to perfection. Presentation was precise, and appealing. All the meals were served hot on very clean plates. All accompaniments were delivered quickly, and efficiently. Cutlery was clean, polished, and in good condition. Wine glasses too were very clean and polished. Desert too was fantastic. I recommend trying the Festive menu if you are intending to go any time soon. The restaurant is very clean and well decorated. I like the use of red and shiny glass. The toilets too were in exception condition and some of the cleanest I have experienced anywhere in the brand. Tables are well lit without being too overpowering. Ample free parking available if required. Also fully disabled access. Sue did a terrific job taking care of us.. Well done all round. WE look forward to returning soon.

Really nice atmosphere, great service don't really have anything to complain about as far as that's concerned. The food was also really good, the only issue we had was that my wife is vegetarian and gluten free (I know, don't go to a steakhouse...but I like steak :P) we had actually been recently and there was a cauliflower steak on the menu that she really enjoyed so we had thought she could have that again but they had since changed the menu and she ended up having to get a few sides to make up a main meal which wasn't ideal. So yeah, dropped a star for that and would really appreciate a review of the decision to take that option off :) It should be noted that the serving staff were great, asked the kitchen if there was anything they could do etc. And seemed to genuinely care about finding my wife a meal which was much appreciated!

It was my wife's and I first time at Miller & Carter Southampton. Our son bought us a gift voucher for Xmas and we've only just been able to use it. What a great gift it was I must say. A great restaurant indeed, the staff were very helpful with just the right level of attentivness. The food was fantastic and can't be faulted in my opinion. If you are thinking of going there, then you will not be disappointed.

The best place you can buy steak. Always cooked well for me just let the staff know if you want it cooked in a certain way. Staff are always polite and up for having a conversation. They don’t bother you once they have asked the first “is everything ok with your meal?” It does get busy on a Friday and Saturday just make sure you book well in advance so that you are not disappointed. It’s value for money £28 for fillet as I write this review which to me is about right. There are other cheaper options of course. Toilets are clean and covid protection in place and working. Plenty of parking..

Highly recommended for the following reasons the customer service I received was beyond customer service they went beyond my expectations the staff bent over backwards to keep me happy without me having to ask anything of them to do so ... They resolve a meal that was not correct by replacing the meal completely with no quibbles ... Had a lovely family meal here on a Sunday, taking advantage of the three course set menu - which was brilliant value at £25. Some items had an additional supplementary cost, which of course were the ones I chose! The scallop starter was well worth the extra £2, and the fillet steak was an additional £6 - so worth it! Perfectly cooked, no fat, not the slightest bit chewy. I tried both the peppercorn and beef dripping sauces and both were lovely. Sticky toffee pudding was lush too. Worth noting as well that my sister is vegetarian and loved the butternut roulade she had for her main. Lovely place for a special meal. Service was relaxed and friendly. To me it was like a posh beefeater, a bit pricer but the quality was definitely there. The food was amazing, halloumi fries were stuffed full of cheese. I went for the 12oz ribeye, cooked how I asked and tasted so good. I'd recommend the beef barbacoa topped fries, makes them extra tasty. Banoffee pie was just the right size portion, quite sweet but not sickly sweet, came with more than generous portion of caramel underneath.

The filled yorkie starter was special and was followed by a medium rare Black Angus steak. The peppercorn sauce and 2 cheese dressed lettuce were magnificent accompaniments. I chose the house Mabec and was not dissatisfied. Brendan was attentive and quick to respond when requested but was happily chatting to guests on all tables playing an excellent host.He gave us some good tips to get some things that were 'off-menu' for the kids but not pay full 'adult' prices. The steaks were perfectly cooked to our liking and service was prompt and efficient enough to not give the kids a chance to squabble. We're really had nothing to moan about other than the premium price... Which made it worth paying the premium price. It might be a while til we return, but we absolutely will.

I called in to the b restaurant that afternoon to book and pre warn staff. Lisa greeted me at the door. After explaining the situation, Lisa then worked with me, to decide the perfect table to accommodate my eldest and our party of five. She deserves a pay rise! As soon as we entered that evening, another young lady who'd been about that afternoon, immediately took charge and showed us to the table. Lisa then popped over, and from that moment on, was amazing. She even sung happy birthday to my 9 year old and bought out a plate with 'Happy Birthday' written on it, in an edible, sparkly sauce. I can't thank the girls enough. I may even be able to coax my eldest to come out with us again, if that's the service we'll always have. xx

The restaurant itself is very clean, modern and welcoming. The staff are very attentive and well-trained and knowledgeable. The reason why I haven't given 5 stars is due to the cost being quite high for what I would class as an average piece of steak. Admittedly, I did opt for one of the rump options so you're never going to get near the melt-in-the-mouth experience of more prime cuts but the quality of the rump was a little disappointing. It had a fair amount of gristle throughout. Cooked impeccably though. If you plan to visit, expect to pay around £80 for 2 people, each having a high quality cut of steak and a bottle of mid-range red wine. The steak comes with your choice of sauce, a generous portion of fries, onion loaf (similar to an onion bhaji but not spiced) and a big lettuce wedge, again, with your choice of topping.

Had a lovely meal last night and the food was great. Unfortunately the service was not so good, not sure if it was because of the table we were sitting at (table 30), this table is behind a large pillar and we can only assume that the staff could not see us. We were shown to our table and given menus and left for at least 15 minutes before we managed to catch a waitress to place an order. Apart from the service we couldn’t fault the food.

Went to Miller & Carter for the first time for a date night and we had the most amazing steaks! We both had the fillet mignon, both cooked to perfection, very tasty, I couldn't stop eating it, it simply melted in my mouth. Our waitress, Tyler was so lovely as well, helped me choose the best sauce for the steak and she was so polite and made us feel welcome. All the other members of staff were very nice as well, we'll definitely be returning and would recommend to everyone.

I have only visited during the day on two separate occasions, the first time I ordered from the set lunchtime menu and had fish and chips which was well presented and tasty. On my second visit I ordered the steak which was very good indeed but in my opinion I think it is slightly over priced. The waiting staff are polite and have perfected just how much interaction is needed. If you want great food then pay them a visit, be aware that there is a dress code is in place - smart/smart casual.

Presentation - Spot on. Chips came in a separate tub which made sense. Service - great. Our server was polite and friendly. Came over at just the right times and didn't bother us too much. The lady who brought our food out noticed it was taking pictures and helped tidy the table. Wait - just right. didn't have to wait long but it was too quick either. Setting - nice decor. Food was good, had to send back a dessert as the creme brulee was burnt (so burnt it had spoilt the flavours right through and it all tasted of burnt sugar). When you arrive you are greeted and asked to sanitise your hands, they now have a one way system, so if you need to go out for a puff, fresh air or to your car, you go out the side door and come back in through the main door. You are shown immediately to your table on arrival, our waitress Sue was amazing, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks. Service throughout was really something special tonight. We had booked a table at tea-time on a weekday. It was our first visit and I was impressed with the interior. it wasn’t busy apart from two customers standing at the bar. We had a drink and then we were shown to our table. It is a place more known for steak, I had a glazed chicken burger which came with fries and dresslaw. It was very tasty and I thoroughly recommend it. The portion was fair and filling. It started to get busier and by the time we got up to leave, most tables were being used. Great food let down by management/training of front of house staff. I first visited a few weeks back and looked forward to a return. The second time I found the food to be even better but unfortunately the front of house team need more support and/or training. Little things like keeping you waiting to see if they had any availability when the place was half empty, making a meal out of pulling a pint, over familiar waiting staff and call your own taxi. If these things don't bother you, go enjoy the fabulous food. For me, I'll try elsewhere next time.

Not cheap, but worth it for a nice lunch.

Large car park which is easy to drive into. Lots of social distancing which made us feel safe. Easy to get to toilets. Staff polite and willing to give help and advice. Good steaks with a good selection. Also have a lunchtime menu which is well priced as well as al a carte. Well worth a visit.
