What a great place to eat. Incredible selection of steaks and fish. All very high quality and cooked to perfection. Staff all very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable on the cuts. Just can't fault it. After going all out on steak I'd be interested to try some of the more 'normal' items on the menu such as the burgers to see how they compare to other restaurants in Southampton. If the quality is anything like the steak platter I had then I'll be in for a treat. Best steak in Southampton? Easily.

Atmosphere and food were lovely. The staff when we arrived were very informative and showed us all the different ranges of meat & fish that had been caught around the world. The food & presentation was spot on. It got a bit busy towards the end of the meal and perhaps not enough staff to accommodate all the customers, we ended up skipping dessert as it took so long. Either way quality was good and we'll be back.

Ocean grill has some of the best food I've ever had in a restaurant. I ordered the surf and turf for myself, and the steak was done near perfectly; a lot of places I've been to don't understand how to sear a steak properly, and I can happily say this is an exception. The lobster was also excellent (I've never had lobster before, but I can certainly say this was a great first experience). My friend also had the linguine with lobster bisque, which he said was also excellent, though he finished it too quickly and was forced to sit and watch us devour lobster for an hour. The starters were also outstanding. I will add that the food is rather pricy, but your paying an acceptable amount considering how good it is. The staff who served us were polite and helpful, and we did have some good banter with them, and they very kindly made me a happy birthday plater. P.S. One very minor thing, if you ask a table if they want water, it'd be appreciated if you specify tap water or bottled because we just wanted tap water.

The service and the food here is incredible. This restaurant offers A5 Wagyu which is simply phenomenal. I'm not sure if any other restaurant in Southampton offers this. This meat is melt in your mouth soft. THE best steak I've ever had. The dessert counter is also top tier. Pictured here is the pecan cheesecake. The cream cheese is wonderfully light. One of the best desserts I've had.

The steak was superb, and the cocktail suggested by the waiter with a change to the rum was sensational. I wish I'd listened to his advice about the sauce though, as the taster of his suggestion was so much better than what I ordered. Lovely place, great food, helpful staff. Will visit again!

We had such a lovely evening here. Lovely atmosphere, attentive waiting staff who couldn’t do enough to keep us happy. The food was incredible & the whole menu is just so delicious…. We wanted to eat everything. Sensational decor as well. I loved how it is decorated. It’s nice to see another top end restaurant in Southampton. The Jetty & Blue Jasmine are lovely but it’s so nice to have a third option for special occasions. Well done Ocean Grill. We will be seeing you again.

Every aspect of this place was top notch. Firstly the gentlemen showing and explaining the differences between the steaks in a knowledgeable and humorous way was a great start but the experience of eating the Japanese Wagyu was out of this world. Buttery soft and so amazing made me wish I'd opted for a larger size (or 2 of them!). The drinks were perfec (rum old fashioned and a decent bottle of merlot) and the crepe suzette was a spectacle for the finishing move of what was probably one of my favourite ever meals. Also my work colleagues (all 8 of them) had nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. Highly recommended 👌

Cabaret nights poor seating, poor food presentation and selfish other diners. Felt like works do. Not classy for an intimate meal. Very expensive for experience offered. Felt like a money making exercise where we were repeatedly asked if we wanted more drinks and had booking chased twice after paying deposit. Seating by toilet meant continuous stream of rowdy diners coming past and proximity of grill meant waiters constantly coming past too. Selfish diners forever getting up for smoke breaks changing tables and chairs with other diners they knew and dancing in aisles. Found it very difficult to see cabaret singer as a result. £250 for two with one bottle of wine and 2 bottles of water didn’t make us plan to return any time soon!! Such a shame as one waiter previously from Carnival was first class. Good good but poorly presented in haste to serve diners.

Best seafood in Southampton, went for lobster and ordered nothing else. We left our waiter Lukas to do the rest, he ordered our wine and sides and it was spot on! A brilliant experience and well worth the money! I will be returning for sure!!!

Had a fantastic Mix Roast Dinner! Beef, Pork and Lamb cooked to perfection, crispy roast potatoes and crunch veg with gravy to die for! I would say this is definitely the best Roast Dinner in the City and the food is amazing! Joe and his team were very attentive and on hand to ensure a smooth delivery and service. We are now booked for the Special Event and can’t wait to explore more of the menu on Friday for my wife’s Birthday.

I saw an ad in the Hampshire Life and thought I would give it a try. I was, to say the least, rather disappointed, my steak, the Tomahawk was not very tender. The sides, mushrooms and mash, were also very disappointing, the mushrooms looked as if they were canned and the mash was tasteless. I also had the pepper sauce and found that to be rather bland. The dessert, an Apple crumble was also not up to much. It is an expensive restaurant and could have done so much better. For example I was offered no choice for the sparkling water. It was £5, like it or leave it. The waiter was sympathetic and thanked me for my comments but, apart from not charging me for the dessert, had nothing positive to add. Would I recommend it? No.

Highly recommend! We've been here twice now, once for our wedding anniversary and again today for Father's Day. The first time we had Surf and Turf which was utterly phenomenal and the staff were all fab. Today was another great experience. My husband and I shared the Beef Wellington which was beautiful and everyone else had a roast dinner which looked delicious and they all raved about. The cool thing about this restaurant is they have a speciality flambé pudding which they do at the table. Loved the service from Joe, and will definitely be back!

What a treasure! We just popped in to ask if we could have a drink before driving home and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming! Walter behind the bar made a huge fuss of our kids making them super special mock-tails. They’ve never had such an experience! Thank you so much! Visited last Saturday as a table of 6 and what an amazing place to eat. Totally Incredible selection of steaks and fish and other dishes which are all very high quality and cooked to perfection and the wine list and general drinks selection is also great. Staff were wonderful and very attentive and could not do enough for us and special mention for Demi and Giorgio and the mixologist who looked after me with conversation until my guests arrived. Yes it’s expensive but it’s also worth the experience and every part of the evening was just brilliant, AMAZING FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE just couldn’t fault anything and look forward to returning.

Visited OceanGrill for lunch today to celebrate my son’s 18th Birthday. We had a fantastic meal. Joe provided amazing service and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. We enjoyed being shown the meat and fish counter and learning about the origins of the produce. Even the chef cooking my son’s tomahawk steak, invited him to see how his meat was being cooked. I've debated leaving this review for a week or so. I had been looking forward to coming for some time now and finally made the time to come to dinner with a friend. I have to give credit that the food is very very good we had a Wagu platter and it was exceptional. The service however fell far below expectations and rather soured the experience for me. Our waiter was certainly eccentric & over familiar with us, but not at all attentive to waiting the actual table - we had to repeatedly ask to order drinks, have dishes cleared ect... Other staff members seemed nice, but were visibly irritated when we had to ask them for things like menus/wine list etc. Given the premium cost >£300 for the two of us I'm sorry to say that the service did not warrant the price tag on this occasion.

Absolutely excellent. This restaurant far outstrips any that I have visited in Southampton. Straight off the bat the cocktails were delicious and refined, and the perfect portion size. The food was sublime, so much attention is given to even the sauces. The beef short rib starter is especially excellent and barely needs to be touched before it flaked apart. Ocean grill serves theatre, elegance and class and you would be a fool not to visit.

Our first visit to Ocean Grill for an anniversary celebration. Wow, we were not disappointed! Joe, the owner, met us at the front desk with a friendly welcome, and explanation of all the different cuts of wagyu beef, along with fresh lobster and giant prawns. All produce is clearly priced: its not cheap, but the quality of the food is a level above anywhere we've been locally. From the beautiful glasses and cutlery to the furnishings and fittings, the attention to detail is excellent. The staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. Thank you Joe, a great first experience, we'll be back!

We came Friday night, managed to get a table at short notice. We ordered 4x Japanese Wagyu A5 steak, whilst the bill was mega it was worth every penny. Without doubt the best steak I've ever had, you see these people on TV tasting things and saying things like "oh my god the texture and flavour bla bla" and you think yeah they are just exaggerating but honestly this is how I felt having this ☺️ If your looking for a top notch service, with a top notch steak in a beautiful surrounding then I recommend coming here, we will be back 👌

We have just spent a fabulous evening in the ocean grill celebrating my wife’s 70th. The food was top class and the staff went over and above at every step, from the welcome to organising taxis for our departure. Nothing was rushed, a special call out to Joe and Katrina who both made the evening for us where nothing was too much trouble. Great wait staff, however food tonight was a disappointment. Ordered the sourdough bread and seaweed butter ( expecting some nicely presented artisan bread) just 5 slices of bread with butter straight from the fridge and not spreadable without ripping the bread to bits. Partner had the tuna steak which was lovely, but I had the burger which was sooo dry it fell to bits! Only given three stars as we’ve been before and the foods been a lot better but certainly only a two star meal

We went to the Ocean Grill as a family to celebrate a birthday. All I can say is that we had an incredible experience. We were introduced to all the various cuts of steak at the counter before we sat down to eat. Lucas hosted us for the evening giving us a full explanation of the cooking methods using a hot-plate on a mobile trolley. The meats were cooked to perfection and were melt-in-the-mouth stuff. Lobster was also served which was equally as tasty. Overall, a great evening was had by all. Thank you.

Not a massive meat eater anymore but this place was exceptional. Fantastic selection of fresh fish and top tier standard of meats from around the world. Excellent, attentive and knowledgable service. Great decor and atmosphere. Worked out at roughly £100 per head, which included a sharing starter, two pints, two 300g cuts of Spanish rib Eye steaks, two sharing sides and two desserts each. Highly recommend! Impressive.

We visited the restaurant to celebrate my birthday in November. We were a group of six, including two children. The food we ate was very good indeed. It was all cooked extremely well, apart from a “well done” beef fillet which came to the table still bleeding. The service was the best aspect of the evening… all staff were very obliging and extremely knowledgable about the food/drink they were serving. The whole experience was unrushed, which made it very relaxing. We will be happy to recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic! I had the best lasagna I have ever had and the wine was very well priced. The house white is circa £20 a bottle and certainly one I'd order again. You could have a very affordable meal here or really "go for it" if it is a special occasion. The staff were all delightful and made for a very enjoyable evening. First time going here it was the best steak I’ve ever tried hands down. When we arrived some guests where very rude and interrupted joe as he was showing my friend and our partners the different meats they sale which are displayed in a glass cabinet. Joe handled the situation very well and was waiting on us like we was the only people in the restaurant. All the staff and waiters go above and beyond to make sure the service is something of a high end London restaurant. Quite simply, outstanding. My wife and I were out for a relaxing daytime walk (well, pushing her in a wheelchair with a broken leg) around Ocean Village and spotted this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were far too early and it was closed. However, a staff member spotted us looking and the manager swiftly opened the door to ask if he could help. He booked us a table and made arrangements that accommodated a wheelchair. Simple! The level of service and attention to detail from both the manager and his staff were impeccable. Not to forget the quality of the steak and of course the Chef's cooking, is without question in a league of its own. All in all, our experience was absolutely flawless. Well I'll be honest the beef short rib starter was heavenly, and I am sure that the steaks are amazing (slightly out of my price range though), but for a restaurant that prides itself on its meat I thought that it would be able to make a decent burger, but I was very disappointed, nothing special, over cooked and dry.

We had an amazing night here, the sirloin was delicious as were all the sides! Highly recommend the Roquefort sauce and garlic sautéed spinach as a side! Service was perfect. Our waiter Dennis was so friendly and knowledgable. It’s our local so we will definitely be back to try some seafood next time!

This is now a regular haunt for us as we've not tasted exceptional quality like this anywhere in the city centre. A Christmas lunch party with a wonderful entertainer, the restaurant lent itself well for the occasion. Service really was extremely attentive, nothing too much trouble and everything quick and accurate. The only exception was that we had pre ordered rare steaks and this was clearly written on our name cards but we were told the kitchen was too busy delivering different meals for the whole party as simultaneously as possible so we had been served medium rare instead. They were good quality and tasty steaks, and although I'd have preferred rare, I understood the reasoning. All in all, a really well run venue
