Absolutely loved it here. Felt very authentic (never been to Japan so I can only imagine). Ramen was really tasty, the set was really nice with the beef and the sushi is up there with the best I've had. Very quick service and all very friendly. Pretty good value but there was lots on the menu we wanted so ended up spending a lot. Easily done here if you are hungry.... one complaint was the Coke was flat. Small worry though in comparison to everything else. Really lovely and will return.

I'm pleasantly surprised about this Sakura place considering its in student zone. The food was so fresh hot and tasty, cooked fish was soft and tender much better than getting a greasy chippy!! Pickled ginger slices on point Service was excellent 20% off on a Saturday!!!?

My stomach is very happy!!! Kids loved the yakiniku and soba noodles! Tempura was very crispy and sushi was just perfect! We are Japanese and we loved everything we ordered. Staffs were very kind too. Avocado and cucumber mayo roll (inside out roll) that came as part of the set meal (teishoku) was awesome! There was only one toilet for woman and one for gender-neutral/wheelchair, so I felt awfully sorry when two of my kids occupied both.

Absolutely superb! We had a wonderful experience, the staff was very friendly and gave helpful recommendations. They were also taking covid precautions such as wearing masks and asking people to sanitise upon entry, that we greatly appreciate. Paid appropriate attention to my nut allergy as well. Everything we had was delightful: Southsea maki, age gyoza, the pork and chicken katsu curry and the Japanese pancake with lemon custard. We also had iced lychee lemon and ginger honey tea. The menus are very well designed and have images that we found very helpful. We will definitely visit again!

I've been craving ramen lately so I decided to give Sakura a try. The restaurant itself is situated in Bedford Place, directly facing another Japanese restaurant, Nara Sushi. Inside had a nice ambience and staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered chicken katsu ramen and fried tofu. I didn't have long to wait as the service was rather quick and efficient. My bowl of ramen was delicious and was served piping hot. It was exactly what I needed on a cold winter day. However I couldn't help but feel disappointed with the chicken katsu. The meat wasn't as tender as I preferred and just didn't taste very fresh. I've had plenty of ramen in the past and although still delicious, the one I had at Sakura left me feeling underwhelmed. On the other hand, the tofu was soft and silky and quite refreshing. Overall this place is worth a visit. Might go a second time for sushi.

We arrived with no booking for lunch and after ordering our food came almost right away, very quickly and we were very pleased with it! We thought it was some of the best salmon and ramen we had ever had (particularly the teriyaki salmon), and everything was simply delicious and perfect. Unfortunately my father-in-law fell ill mid-lunch, but the staff were just lovely and very accommodating to us, making sure we were all okay, had anything we needed and provided him with cold drinks and any care needed. We are extremely grateful for their help, many others would have wanted us out of the restaurant as soon as possible. Many thanks for all the staff on Saturday 14/08 for all your help and understanding. We will be coming again and recommending this place to all our friends. :)

Cool restaurant run by Chinese people. I went for dinner and the day after for lunch. Dinner: chicken katsu ramen. Very good except for the noodles which are the Nissin ones (cheap). 10 pounds Lunch: salmon teriyaki teishouku. Good but small portions. Very little salmon and too much overcooked rice. Not good for the price. 15 pounds. Overall it's too pricey.

Had a great family meal at Sakura, which had a wide varieties of Japanese dishes. We ordered sushi box, seafood yaki noodles age dashi tofu and katsu curry rice -- all of them enjoyable. However, portions are not generous but the dishes are palatable. Decor reflects a Japanese partition to create semi- closed enclosures, which suits the current environment. Recommended and we would definitely visit again.

My friend ordered for us from UberEats. The food was delicious but the service was shocking. We were maybe 10 minutes late picking up the food because my friend friend followed along on the UberEats app which said it wouldn’t arrive for another 20 minutes, but we ended up going down after I answered the phone for her and got shouted at. When we got to the car we were greeted by who I assume was a worker at the restaurant who shouted at us again (two teenage girls) because he had been waiting over half an hour (he hadn’t). Really aggressive service, no patience!

The staff were lovely. They teach my husband how to eat with sticks. The food was really nice , they also made recommendations, which was very helpful. They had a 20% discount, at lunch time every day of the week, but only if you arrive at 12 pm or later and the bill is paid just before 2pm. If interested, call before and ask them about it when you book your table

I went back here on Valentine's Day, I booked the day before and when we ordered the staff were friendly and helpful. The drinks and food we ordered came in good time and were nicely presented. Very nice food and drinks, good portion sizes and excellent atmosphere. I enjoy coming here every time, it's my favourite restaurant in Southampton by a lot and I look forward to the next time I visit!

This was by far the best sushi we've had. Unfortunately due to lockdown we weren't able to get the full sit in experience, but we ordered it on Ubereats and it was fantastic. All the food was great quality - the soft shell crab roll was the single best sushi roll I've ever eaten. The ramen broth was extremely flavoursome and served conveniently to assemble at home. All in all... fabulous meal. Recommend to anyone!

It's a small restaurant with a lot of character. A lot of care has been taken to give it a Japanese look and feel and the decor is very pleasent. We had the sushi and katsudon which were both nice choices and at affordable prices. We ordered a rice tea which came in a big pot which was a big plus as it allowed for several cups of tea. All in all a nice restaurant to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch while out on the town or a casual dinner with friends. While the food is good, it won't make it into any top 5 lists. That being said it was a nice visit to Sakura and a pleasant dining experience.

UPDATED REVIEW: I have been coming to this restaurant for 4 years now (my Google timeline says today is visit number 41!) and I have always been very happy with my experience here! I've never had a bad experience!!! The food is just amazing comfort Japanese food, so delicious, great portions, and amazing variety. The staff are lovely and it's great to see them all still doing well even after the hard year we've had. Sakura has made me a customer for life! Can recommend 100%!!! But, if you happen to come there without making any booking first and there's still unoccupied table, they will still serve you. Changed my life, I live in Winchester and when I'm not in southampton I dream about being here. I'll sell my first born child to have their food everyday. Everyone I bring here loves it, even if they don't love seafood - love it, not much a sushi person - love it. You want noodles? Dont go wagmamas come here bubba. Best calimari ive ever had (Ika age) and I'm Greek and you know we love calimari. 100000/10 go here and feel no regrets.

Went this August 2020. I called the restaurant at 1730 booked a table at 1800 and the table was reserved until 1930. Came to the restaurant late and the serving time is approximately 30mins. It was nice to see that the Sakura team had taken all the necessary precautions from partitions between tables, staff provide paper for you to write down your order and sanitiser was provided at the door. There was no temperature taken but that's fine! You may want to bring a pen as we were not given one at first! Come prepared. 🍣 Despite being busy, we received our food within a reasonable time and I'd recommend the Yuzu iced tea. Even as a vegetarian, I found something that I could eat even though the options were limited - Although, that is to be expected! I had the vegetarian California rolls, kappa maki and vegetable tempura.
