The Venu is lovely to and warm and obviously very authentic especially being an Old Mill dating back 100,s of years. Tastefully modernised with a old feel. Very warm welcome from staff and made to feel at home. We had a great time and the staff were attentive,kind and happy to indulge our quirky party. The Evening menu was lovely but surprising not vast in its starters or mains choices, however that should not always be the case.....more is not a plumb line to make a judgement on the food,menu etc. The starters were well presented and we all had something different. Which served our tastes buds..the mushroom stuffed with goats cheese was very tasty but was only just warm to eat ...and the mushroom was not huge compared to the £8.95 ......the mains was a selection of different cuts of pork served with a selection of vegetables and a roasted fondant potatoe....(see foto) What I do need to say is the Pork selection was tender,well cooked and tasty and I could have done with two portions. (That isn't to say the portions were meager) they were just right but I could have easily ate 2 as it was so good....🤪 However the one upright half of a carrot and 2 baby broccoli stems and a half of a potatoe less than the size of my credit card that wasn't roasted was very disappointing. I knew the restaurant had a great reputation and the fine diner comes with cost and limited portions but I had to chuckle inside at the seasonal vegetables served with such succulent meats. I would definitely come again but the straw that broke the camel's back with a restaurant with such a great menu pleasant and helpful staff....and great food apart from my own personal observations was you had to pay for parking for the privilege of eating there. The prices you have to pay I do not feel (even if they incorporated parking into the cost of good,service etc) warranty the patron to pay to park the car and eat....just imagine if they did that at the Golden Arches!!!!🤣

Had a amazing meal here. Service was relaxed, but at the same time totally on point! Nice to get real customer service. However it was the food that makes this place stand out. Well presented and very tasty. We will be going back very soon. If you are visiting for the first time, car parking is free but you do need to give your number plate when you enter. Don’t spend the time buying a ticket via the app!

Fantastic food (and very generous portions!). Really interesting setting. Not a cheap night out but well worth it. I had the asparagus and prawns to start and the pork for my main course, absolutely no room left for pudding unfortunately!

I visited for the first time last night with a colleague who had been many times before and had set high expectations. These expectations were not only met but exceeded. The staff were friendly chatty and gave fantastic recommendations. We were made to feel welcome. The whole experience was second to none, the food was exceptional and the service matched. I am already planning to bring my Wife back for the same experience that I received. Thanks to all the staff at the Old Mill :)

This is the family and friends 'go to' for just about any occasion. Great food, service and atmosphere always. On our latest visit, hats off to our waitress, Mary, thank you for making us feel at home. Have already booked again!

Better than your average pub meal, food presented and served quite well, overall pricey for what it is, table of 7 also got a 10% service charge. Total bill came to £521 Inc the £47 service charge for 7 people. strangely I cannot find anywhere on the menu that mentions service charges. Meals served on big plates but meals are quite small. Nice place but be prepared for a high bill. Also get ready to pay for parking in the Botley Mills car park. You'd think customers would get consessions. Before you argue about this 'Old Mill Botley' I'm only relaying what our experience was.

Absolutely fantastic night. From superb fillet steak and lamb fillet to beef Wellington and cod loin. All the food was perfectly cooked and excellently presented including lovely starters and sumptuous deserts. Our fifth time here and will keep coming back all the time the food is this good. Bit on the expensive side but worth every penny!

Fairly local and have only just found this place. Loved the ambience and way the restaurant seems to have developed around a wonderful historical building. The service was relaxed with little surprises along the way such as amuse bouche and a pallet cleanser. This made the value for money extra good. The food was so tasty and well presented. Will definitely find the time to go back.

Generally really good food and service in a quirky setting of the old milling room. Disappointed with the Scotch broth soup and their take on an Eton mess but the Wellington was fantastic and the other food very good. Definitely worth a visit.

We booked this as a special birthday treat and we weren't disappointed! Staff made us feel welcome, food was absolutely gorgeous and so well presented. We'd been to another restaurant a few weeks previous which was "michelin mentioned" but this was better! The portions were perfect and everything was cooked to perfection. They served us little complimentary tasters at the start and after dinner had complimentary palette cleansing sorbets. The staff, despite being behind visors, were lovely and we will definitely be back again! Thank you for a lovely birthday!

We had a lovely dinner at the Old Mill, and even decided to return the following day for our anniversary meal. The staff will friendly, helpful and informative. The restaurant, itself, is STUNNING, full of quirky features and history. The food was excellent quality and great value for money on set menu. Al a cart menu is a little pricey. Had a lovely extra special touch of chef's samplers - a great idea. Plus a good range of alcohol free drinks available.

Went twice to this venue whilst on holiday. Excellent quality food, with excellent service from all the staff. Good menu choices. Would recommend this place to anyone who is having a break in this area, as me and my wife were. Only downside for some customers might be that the set menu is only available from Tuesday to Thursday. Some may think that the A la Carte menu is too expensive for them.

We had dinner saturday evening at The Old Mill and we couldn't have made a better choice. My wife booked the table and had mentioned it was our anniversary. Before we had even been given the menu we had a complimentary glass of prosecco in our hand and were instantly feeling good about coming. The staff were all incredibly polite but without being too formal. The food was excellent and the speed of service was spot on. Not once did we feel hurried which is a nice change from most places. All in all I cannot fault The Old Mill we had a great time and we will definitely be coming back soon.

What an absolute Gem! The whole experience was fantastic. When we walked in, the place has the wow factor. The glassed off section, showing the running water, from the old water wheel was lovely. The menu is small, but has something for everyone and personally I believe this is the sign of a good restaurant. The food was faultless. We all had 3 courses, all were superb and plates left spotless, it was so delicious. Service was excellent too and I thought it a lovely touch that the owner chatted to every table.. Covers are limited, so you'll need to book to avoid being disappointed.

We celebrated our Club's 20th Anniversary Lunch at this venue, where we were made very welcome by Chris. The food and service were excellent and the old workings of the Mill provided a rather unusual setting for a memorable occasion. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

First visit here today for a birthday lunch with a dear friend, and all I can say is wow! We had a delicious meal with excellent service in a lovely setting. I am told by friends that their sunday roast is also amazing and they also have a secluded dining area for private functions, with seating for upto approx 12-14 people. I rarely take the time to write a review but would highly recommend this venue and we will be returning.

We enjoyed a special meal to celebrate a promotion recently. The atmosphere and ambience are great with many of the original mill features on display. The food is excellent and although not cheap, it's fairly priced. A great restaurant tucked away, the front of house manager made us feel very welcome.

Posting on my sons google account unfortunately but I live locally and had not gone in before as it felt a bit daunting not being able to see what the restaurant was like inside before going in. It is fairly tucked away and the windows are fairly small due to the age of the beautiful building. I wish I went here sooner. The food was delicious and you can really tell that the chef and manager care about your experience and the service. As for people complaining about the parking, there is an option to extend your time and it is out of the restaurants control. They did all they could when we went to make us aware of the parking charges and how we can stay for longer which they did not need to do but it was nice that they cared to. It is a nice dining experience. If I could give the restaurant a little bit of feedback the Waitress who served us at lunch was slightly rude and seemed disinterested and distracted. We were the only table in at first, perhaps this is just the way she comes across. Anyway, great place and great management 💪🏻

Had the most amazing main in a stunning location tonight. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was far better than I imagined it would be. My only criticism is, the waiting staff were very slow and there was no offer of a dessert menu. The bar was a bit of a distance as it's a Tardis in there. So we went without. But that didn't ruin our evening. Would highly recommended.

We went over time and had to negociate the complex online payment system in a poor signal area. If you want to try this place, park in the square and walk down the hill.

This is my first 5 star. James the owner showed us around the mill. it still had some of the parts in tact. The service we received was at a very personal level. Feature filled venue revealing Mill fittings pumps water wheel and hoppers with seating around. I would call it almost steam punk. Service from new young staff friendly and purposeful. Food cooked to a high standard with some creative talent clearly visible flavours fill the palate. The sound of running splashing water helps mask conversations, but the lack of soft furnishing means voices echo around. At the pricier end of the scale imo. For me the lack of privacy and intimacy spoils the overall experience at this price point.
