Absolutely fantastic. We hadn't visited here in a few years and WOW, it was amazing. The specials list was a great mix and reasonable prices. The crab was the perfect temperature and the mussels were bang on. My desert stole the show though; Winter Eton Mess. The flavour and texture profiles were incredible, truly tasted like autumnal bliss. Will have to try and recreate it at home as it's rare I find a desert where the concept is so novel and so good. Extra bonus was that the atmosphere and staff were both lovely too!

Came here for lunch on Friday. I booked online about a week prior, was easy enough and was sent email confirmation, which gave some personality to the restaurant from the get-go. Arrived at 12:30 to an empty restaurant and two lovely members of staff who offered a very warm welcome, the restaurant was dimly lit, which was cosy but still comfortable to eat in. Offered a drink menu, a la carte menu and a specials menu. At no point during our two and a half hour lunch did we feel rushed to order, eat or leave. We were left alone for long enough, without feeling forgotten, to actually have long conversations, which seems to be overlooked by most restaurants. We didn't go for a starter, as we wanted a light lunch but the options seemed nice, especially if you're a fan of seafood. For our mains, I went for the lamb shank and my partner got the pork belly. We both decided to get something that we wouldn't usually get. My partner doesn't really ever enjoy pork, like myself, however this dish was outstanding and actually made us enjoy a pork dish for, possibly, the first time ever. The mash was buttery, smooth and salty. My partner is a, self described, connoisseur of mash and she stated that it was the best mash that she has ever had. This dish had a nice range of different flavours and textures that complimented each other perfectly. The lamb shank was tender but still nicely held its shape when cut, the fat was all rendered so there were no unpleasant chewy bits. The only criticism i would have about the entire experience would be to have a few less olives on the plate and one or two more pieces of potato, there seemed to be more olives than lamb and it was slightly off-putting, even though i do enjoy olives, i personally couldn't eat that many in one sitting. Our waiter, Tom, approached us regarding our food taking a 'long time', however we didn't think the wait was anything ridiculous, we never complained or asked for a checkup on our food, but we were still offered free coffees at the end of our meal, which was a nice gesture and they were good. I have been a barista in the past so i has a few questions about the coffee before ordering it, which were happily answered by him and turned into having a nice personal conversation with him. We aren't usually ones to go for a sweet at the end of a meal, usually due to being full from the starter and main, but we decided to treat ourselves. We got a brownie and the baklava. I didn't try the brownie but my partner said it was delicious, we hardly exchanged words whilst eating them, so that tells the entire story really. The baklava was delicious, along with the pistachio ice cream, the blueberries were a nice touch too as it definitely needed an acidic element. I personally have been lucky enough to travel to, both, Turkey & Greece and whilst there, trying multiple of the treats and i can strongly say that this one lived up to the traditional ones that i had in Turkey. The meal came to around £65 in total for the two of us, which had us scratching our heads as i was prepared to pay 50% on top of that prior to arriving. The bill came and i noticed a 10% discount for the wait time on the food, again, we didn't ask for a check on the wait for the food or complain, as the wait seemed reasonable for such a nice restaurant. However this was a very nice gesture, along with the free coffee. Definitely made our day. I had a nice conversation with the owner, once during the meal and once on our way out. Would definitely return, especially as the menu changes as the seasons change and availability to local produce. Thank you Tom & the team :) - Harrison and Aimee

From the friendly welcome to the great service and wonderful food, this was a great place for my husband and me to celebrate his birthday. Had a birthday meal here last Friday, but we’re disappointed by both the initial atmosphere (drunk guys swearing) & then the less than average main meals. The risotto was very salty, & the vegan lasagne was very dry, with no hint of the bechamel sauce, & actually looked like it came from a too long a visit in a microwave. Wine was good, as were the desserts. Would we go again?….. no, not for what we paid.

Because we had fond memories of a meal here a few years ago, my wife and I chose the Oxford Brasserie for a Sunday lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a great choice. We were surprised how uncrowded it was at 1pm on sunny Sunday, but we weren't complaining. We took a seat by the big open window and received excellent service immediately and throughout the meal. The food was sublime. My wife's starter - smoked salmon and tempura samphire was reportedly 'exquisite' while my strawberry, tomato and feta salad with chili flakes was a perfect mix of flavours and texture. We both had the Sunday roast: my wife had the beef and pork belly'; I had the pork belly and chicken. Despite washing it down with a smooth and full-bodied Italian merlot, we were both full by the end; even so, it was hard to turn down what seemed to be an excellent and inventive dessert menu. The Brasserie was filling up as we left - clearly we had timed our lunch well. A wonderful meal on a a wonderful, sunny day. Highly recommended.

Superb food and service. Glad we stumbled upon this place during our walk around. Mussels were cooked to perfection that they just melted in your mouth. Desserts were also fantastic. Brilliant resturant near Southampton Harbour and well deserving of its reputation. Great service, and lovely food served in a timely fashion. The desserts and coffee was also exquisite (can definitely recommend the brownies). Only thing keeping this from a five star was the limited vegetarian options and the dishes were a little too small for the price paid - but the little you do pay for is of undeniable quality.

Superb food & service under current rather difficult circumstances. But the team have excelled - a couple of gazebo type structures & outdoor heaters combine to make dining outside possible, if not quite as lovely as eating inside! We had lunch with our granddaughter yesterday and, despite the rainy & cool conditions, enjoyed a truly delicious meal. Nothing was too much trouble. I can’t recommend highly enough. This restaurant was a favourite prior to lockdown, but I do admire how they’re managing to provide the same delicious food & excellent service in spite of covid restrictions. Special thanks for the pristine colouring book and ultra sharp crayons provided - unasked - for our granddaughter. Such attention to detail is rare. Can’t wait to return.

Early dinner for my wife. Atmosphere and ambiance was relaxing, intimate and clean. Service was super attentive but not over bearing and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. My vegetarian wife and I both had 3 course and I recommend the gnocchi which my wife had as well as the lamb chops I had for mains. I will also quickly mention the brownie dessert which was amazing!! Dinner and drinks were not cheap, but you pay for what you get and the quality of the venue, food and service was well worth the cost and the tip we left. Thank you to all the staff, I am sure we will be back!

We had dinner here on Saturday night and I honestly could not fault it. The food, the service, the atmosphere - everything was outstanding. It was incredibly busy but the staff were all still on the ball and nothing was missed. Our water bottle was topped up regularly without us asking, the resting time between each course was perfect (not too short, not too long), the food was fantastic from start to finish in terms of flavour, presentation and quantity. I don't go out in Southampton very often, but when I do it will definitely be here that I eat.

This was an unplanned visit. We received a warm welcome and attentive service. The food was what I would consider to be the best sort of gourmet - unusual flavours, but subtle and well-balanced rather than the "in your face" sort of gourmet that one so often pays too much for. The portion sizes were sensible rather than over-sized. Definitely a place to go back to, and a place where I with my conservative tastes would be happy to experiment with some of the more exotic-sounding dishes.

Went on a Friday evening for date night with my other half. The staff were wonderful, welcoming and polite, very well priced and portioned food. I ate the salmon and he had the braised rabbit we both loved our meals and the wine suggestion with the salmon was spot on. Dessert was a Brûlée tart and blackberry ice cream, which we are now trying to find in supermarkets as it was delicious. All of this accompanied by the presence of a gorgeous and gentle staffie. Starters with nibbles were very tasty but the wait was rather long, then another long wait for a very disappointing Sunday roast. Good portions of perfectly cooked meat and a lovely veg plate were ruined by over cooked potatoes, undercooked parsnips and burnt, hollow Yorkshire puddings that were totally inedible!

Good food , small concise menu, definitely thought through . Seasonal variations and changes with few regular dishes . Very popular with business lunches and dinners , family meet ups. Our meal was extremely good. We had a reservation and were sat down promptly. Probably the only downside to the evening was that where we were initially sat down. The lighting was quite strong and bright, this was near the kitchen area. We decided to move to a table which had a more comfortable atmosphere. The manager who was serving us for the majority of the evening, was so kind to help us move tables. The food from the word go was great, we shared, the focaccia, scallops and salt and pepper quid. They were all very tasty. With main courses following very shortly after, we both had fish, I had the Stone Bass with Chorizo, Pancetta and Lentil Stew, Salsify and Saffron. My girlfriend had the fillet of cod with Slow Braised Ox-Cheek, Confit Potato, Baby Turnip, Red Wine & Butter Sauce. We both tried each others and we both preferred my dish. The Fillet of cod was nice but tasted a little bit bland and also quite a lot of ox cheek compared to the fish too. This compares to mine with an actual sauce beneath the fish with chorizo, pancetta and the lentil stew. Overall the food was fantastic, the price was not too bad considering how much we had either and the service was very good.
