It has been a very long time since I have been here and it was lovely to return. The menu is restricted currently but there is a lovely variety still with the specials included. It was a lovely place to eat and relax before a show. Most of these stars belong to the wonderful Tuesday...what an asset she is to the Gusto Lounge! She really made our evening, thank you

Great place. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and drink. Nice atmosphere. The Sunday roast is particularly good and good value too. Nicely presented and enough on your plate to sate your appetite. In the evening - fun and vibrant and great music.

Had a good dinner tonight; we had a prawn risotto and a lasagna before the theatre. Friendly service. This is an interesting venue, I suspect in warmer times the exterior serves as a drinking area while the interior will tend to be the restaurant. Was cold today, so interior was mixed use- a bit like a French bar. All was good. Menu slightly restricted (staffing?). But a tip for the owner: do push the 'specials'.

Went at 6pm pre theatre. Seated quickly and order taken promptly. We order the camambert which came with (I think) cheaper supermarket breadsticks and a tiny dollop of cranberry sauce. We then had steak and chips and pork belly. Think pork belly better of the two but both very overpriced for what you get and not something I would consider a nice meal out. Bottle of red was very cold. However the service was fast, we finished and were given the bill so we could be gone by 1915 so we easily made our show. The picture is of the electric outlet at head height on the wall next to my table. (Table for two right in front of front door) right next to my left shoulder. It does not inspire confidence in the safety of this place and if used by someone looking to charge their phone could kill.

The food here was lovely but what was better was the service from the waitress. She didn’t have a name badge so unsure of her name but she was so pleasant and helpful. We were having lunch before heading onto a cruise from Southampton and my son had a bad cough. He wasn’t well at the restaurant and didn’t make the toilet when coughing. The lovely lady offered to help me clear up but I couldn’t let her do that. She got a mop and kitchen paper and kept offering to do it and reassured me all was ok and she could help. This was stressful for me as we should have been looking forward to holiday but with my son constantly coughing (which everyone is paranoid about these days) and wondering if he’d be ok whilst we boarded the ship the waitress made everything easier and catered to my needs as well as my daughters. She even suggested black current cordial and soda water as they didn’t have vimto which my daughter wanted. She didn’t everything she could to make us happy and enjoy the time there. She’s an asset to this place and if we lived in Southampton we’d be back just for her service alone but in addition the food was great too and reasonably priced especially the kids £6.95 meal deal for a main drink and dessert. The shared appetizer had super craveable items like the fried small fish and calamari. The pasta was super tasty with excellent bacon. The staff was very attentive and mindful for us! The restaurant itself was also quite cozy and had a bit of a rustic feel to it.

Dined with family before seeing a show at the Mayflower. Menu was restricted due to staff absence (Covid), but we were called and warned about this in advance. Pizzas were delicious - very traditional. Desserts also amazing. Service was fantastic - friendly and attentive - perfect for pre-show dinner!

Food was quickly bought out as they knew we had limited time before a show. Ideally pizza could have done with longer but appreciate that was down to us. Service excellent, will goback when in town next time.

Food was lovely and the staff were all friendly but just a few observations. 1. staff seemed chaotic and all over the place it was not overly busy and there was at least 6 of them. 2. Member of staff had a wet jay cloth in her hand and plonked it on our table, walked off and walked past it 4 times leaving it on our table, I had to move it to the bar. Not a biggie as no food on table but not an attention to detail. 3. A fourth person joined us after we ate and ordered a pizza and I ordered a pudding. Long wait and then two pizzas were bought out and placed on the bar for the staff to eat! Now come on serve customers first and we were sat right next to the bar. Pizza and pudding came about 10 mins later after watching the staff tuck into theirs. Over all nice food just staff need to polish up a bit and please don’t bring out food for staff before paying customers get theirs !

Fantastic food and atmosphere. Really good experience all round at the Gusto Lounge on a Saturday night. The servers were very friendly and attentive. The soup of the day was incredible, and the main was tasty as well. Not greatly expensive considering the quality. Additionally, they had some excellent musicians playing which really hit the spot. Everyone seemed to be having a great time there. Would go back again given half a chance!

I went in on my own after a really bad week but I was served by a chap called Sean (I think that was his name) he was so switched on and made me feel like a regular. I now go there whenever I can and also bring the family. He definitely has a way to really bring people in and make them so welcome. 10 stars for the service! Thankyou

My Guiness and blackcurrant was poured by Stewart behind the bar who was wearing a lovely friendly grin. Thanks for the lovely grin as I said I don't have a lot of confidence and you made me feel at home i ordered another pint of my favorite tipple then a grouse with 2 chunks of ice and water. Wonder amazed me as i was getting peckish I ordered a spaghetti carbonara. With was fabulous thankyou Chef. I don't normally eat out as I've had eating problems for years. I happily spoke to the chef after consuming the large bowl of Spaghetti Carbonara which I later found out was cooked by an Italian young man. Thanked him by purchasing him a coffee Americano. Then saw Derek the bulldog the local dog at the rear of the building is a smallish garden area, closed in. But nice. Thankyou to all of the staff mum and son Justin the artist included. Stay Busy. Many thanks It was a pleasure to draw Derek and give him in person to Justin in an A4 wallet on A4 paper next time ill have to bring my phone and get a decent photo, study his friendly sniff and personality more then go home to my place and draw him with more shading with pencil to catch him fully this would have to be done as a serious study. The staff were amazing the food was incredible, the rioja , u need a bottle! It was all so amazing, the lobster and mash. The mash!!! WHATTTTT, how can u make mash that good...the linguine, the burgers, we didnt get to have a steak. But I can not tell you how lovely it was ......I was having a bad day, they didnt know, but they made my day better. They even left us whilst they were stacking chairs, being very kind and chatty , accommodating, no complaints. Loved it.

Had dinner there last night, and a few times before. Staff and owner are very accommodating. Service is excellent (always on hand), and food is second to none (I'd recommend the Risotto Gusto). Happily recommend it to my friends.

I've been to gusto lounge twice, bringing visitors to Southampton both times. It's a nice vibe, feels really independent and authentic. Covid stuff etc seemed all reasonable and safe to me. Nice sunny beer garden, nice staff. We didn't need to book and they had a table! Only issue was that the only beer they had on tap was Moretti. The options were either Moretti on tap, or Corona/Doombar in a bottle. They must be cutting down for some sort of covid related reason, but it was a bit odd.

There are a lot of people that visit this spot and that is why it’s so crowded everyday but they still manage it well. They get the food ready quick and it is a good place for dining. This is one of the casual and decent European restaurants in Southampton. The quality of the food is fine plus the mixture was truly wonderful. Their facilities also are very sanitary as well as very organized

My daughter booked us a lovely window table for 4 looking over the civic centre; fantastic! Very tasty food and the service was good, but not delivered with an ounce of a smile or any interest. We will visit again, but hope to be served by someone that looks a little more enthusiastic.

Yummy. Food is so rich it makes you drowsy, but they had great arancini and I enjoyed my catch of the day (rainbow trout). Everything was presented very well. I don’t know if I’d go running back but apart from the heavy food I can’t really fault it.

This was our 2nd visit pre theatre and as good as we remembered. Seafood risotto was divine and chicken salad also enjoyed by my friend. Wine was also really really good. Fab staff, just a shame no one mentioned it was cash only due to glitch. Could have been awkward.

What a great place for food and drink. We were going to see chitty chitty bang bang at the mayflower and had time for a meal. We were greeted well and the service was top class. The pizza were fantastic thin and crispy with plenty of toppings. We will return when we visit the Mayflower again.

Early dinner before a show at the Mayflower, which is just across the street. Our pasta dishes were very good, lots of flavour, good quality ingredients and piping hot, which isn't always the case with pasta. The puddings were ok, but not fantastic, it almost felt like wasted calories! Service was quick and efficient. We were surprised to find on leaving that the kitchen had closed for the night (7.15) when their website says 9.00. Two diners were turned away, apparently because they didn't think it was busy enough to keep the kitchen staff on!! So perhaps not a good idea to just turn up🤔

Pre theather menu is missing value. I really doubt there are any Italians cooking this. Pork belly and potatoes lack flavor which is substituted with a sweet balsamic glazing. For the same price you can have fresh local produce in Chesil Recory (Winchester). I feel its slightly above Weatherspoons. There are many people who enjoyed it though..

What a fantastic meal in the Bistro upstairs! We had the Cure beef fillet fo starter, and Pork medallions parma ham for main was well seasoned, was tender and yummy! I coud not say the same about the tiramisu it was average and desapointing, husband had vinilla panacotta that was alot better test really fresh. We agree that was good and would recomend the main and starters for sure.
