one of the best chip shops I have ever eaten at 😋 the chips are very tasty and the fish was excellent! the portion sizes are also on the large side, there is no scrimping on chips happening here. the staff are also very friendly and a joy to talk to. extremely polite and genuinely interested in their customers. very refreshing. highly recommended!

I don’t normally leave reviews but I have to break that. I’ve been going a few weeks now and the food has been spot on every time! The chips…… they are the best I’ve had, cooked to perfection! I’ve not tried the fish so I can’t comment on that but everything else is great! My new chippy!

New to the area and tried Rookery for the first time. Still very busy towards their closing time but they were very friendly and welcoming. The food was decent and definitely did the job. We will definitely go back. Sounds like they're new owners by the way so for anyone who has rated it poorly before give it a go again now

Great staff very friendly, amazing food. The gravy is amazing as well I hate gravy with lumps but the gravy here is smooth n lump free. Keep up the amazing food and keep them smiles going. If you havnt tried it before please go and try if u have being before it got taken over then go try it now it has the new owners u will be happy

Lovely traditional chip shop. Fish are tasty & enormous! Large portions of lovely chips. Good sized menu on offer. Friendly smiling staff too. Can recommend.

The nicest fish and chips in the area. I have other chip shops closer to me, but i’ll always travel the extra distance to this one as it’s so much nicer. The mushy peas are delicious, most chip shop mushy peas just don’t compare! Would recommend this place to anyone.

THE REVIEW BELOW IS MY FIRST REVIEW RE THE OLD OWNERS AND WAS GIVEN ONE STAR , ON THE BACK OF THE RESPONSE FROM THE NEW OWNERS WE HAVE NOW BEEN IN QUITE A FEW TIMES , THE PLACE IS SO MUCH BETTER , STAFF ARE GREAT , FOODS GREAT , IT'S CLEAN , CAN'T ASK FOR MORE , NOW OUR GO TO CHIPPY !!! Food was awful , greasy but the grease tasted old , the place is filthy . The staff are arrogant and very unwelcoming , basically paid for some trays of old grease at way over the normal price

Mavis tells me it's all in the wrapping that is why all the chips aren't stuck together like a lump of mush like other chippy's as for sweaty soggy fish any longer than 10 minutes in a hot bag what do you expect.
