Recommend d by the staff at the dragon hotel, we visited the.first.nigjt of our stay this week. Very enjoyable evening. Table for four, excellent service, friendly and knowledgeable Portuguese staff. Relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed king prawns, garlic bread and Portuguese garlic bread, the veal, grilled chicken and fillet steak Pasta, wine and coffee. All delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will see you next week on our return journey.

This is a proper Portuguese restaurant in Swansea, I would thoroughly recommend if you want quality food at a decent price. The waitress forgot my soup but always with a smile on her face (as it should be) she apologised and rectified the problem in no time, all 'sins' forgiven. Well done to her

My girlfriend is Portuguese and we went to the place as it seemed very nice. The fact is that the food is delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat proper and wonderful Portuguese food.

Tried this place as we wanted to have seafood for dinner. The fish came cold unfortunately, although even without being asked, the staff came and replaced my plate with a newly cooked fish - seems like they knew it was getting cold when they served it. Staff were friendly and attentive though, and side dishes were generous

Outstanding, accommodated at short notice and the food was fantastic, I recommend the gambas da casa and the kebabs lovely. The service was polite , helpful and timely, if we lived in the area we would try to make this one of our regular haunts. I had the swordfish, which was cooked really well, moist thick chunk if fish👍 but was rather jealous of my wife's mixed kebab. If they can fit you in it is a must visit.

me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant for his birthday and it was the perfect way to celebrate! on arrival the staff were very friendly and followed protocols for covid-19 which was a huge reassurance. the service was very quick (taking our orders, bringing our drinks and food, getting the bill). i ordered the spaghetti lobster and my boyfriend ordered the 12oz rump steak (we also had sides of garlic bread and onion rings (both stunning)). the spaghetti lobster was cooked to perfection! the pasta was perfectly aldente, the lobster was delicious, and the sauce was indescribable! my boyfriend said that his steak was the best he had ever had and that the accompaniments to the steak were equally as delicious. would highly recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant in the area!

A bit over priced for what you get. No choice of sides saute potatoes and cold peas. Half a cherry tomato and a bit of green on my plate with the steak is not quiet good enough. Steak over cooked as asked for rare and medium to well turned up. But on a plus side it was a nice piece of steak.

Fabulous establishment! All cosy inside. We were a group of 4, we visited last Wednesday 21st July. How delighted we were to walk out of the heatwave and into air con!! All so refreshing! The staff were pleasant, welcoming and efficient. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The food was absolutely delicious, loved the sardines to start then had chicken in white wine sauce, highly recommend, we all had different dishes and all agreed the food was to a very high standard and delicious. We also enjoyed our wine, house red, superb! The service was excellent. We would highly recommend the Madeira restaurant and would definitely be visiting again.

We're usually super-organised about lunch, booking weeks in advanced. We absolutely weren't today, getting into Swansea after 2 and wondering who'd still be open. Our old favourite, the Madeira to the rescue! We got there about 2.15 and asked if they could squeeze us in -- it was a yes, and we got the lovely table above the stairs. My wife and I tend to order one meal off the set lunch and one a-la-carte (her weakness is the avocado and prawns off the a-la-carte starters; mine is the veal de natas off the a-la-carte mains) -- it's fine to mix it up like that. For those who don't know the Madeira, the absolute party piece is the espetadas, skewers of meat hanging from the ceiling. Particularly fun if there are several of you sharing a variety of meats (I'd particularly recommend the lamb and the monkfish and prawn). Today we played it straight and went off the set lunch menu. I had sardines to start, followed by a lovely rare sirloin steak. Bought a couple of extras, the recheada sauce (perfect with a steak) and the legendary cauliflower (extra with the set lunch, included a-la-carte). We of course did the full Portuguese thing of having a bottle of Casal Garcia Vinho Verde with our meal. The drinks list is really impressive -- we've enjoyed a Jinja and an Adamus brandy afterwards before. Overall, I rate the Madeira very highly. The food is well-preoared and comfortably filling. The service is very good, especially considering how popular it is It's also exceptional value: a two course lunch for two including wine and extras came in on the nice side of £60. Hopefully that gives some sense of why the Madeira is a big favourite of ours!

Dined at the Madeira restaurant while in the area to visit the Gower peninsula. How lucky we were to find this gem! We were so impressed by the food and service that we decided to book and come back to dine again the next day. Food is very well cooked and really top quality here. Top recommendation are the mussels in white sauce, truly divine with a glass of white wine. The seafood Cataplana platter is packed with large shrimp. The imposing Madeira hanging kebabs are made with high quality meat, we had the beef one and it was juicy and tender. The team provides friendly and attentive service. It really felt as if we ate with family. Looking forward to come back soon!

Staff was wonderful. Place looks very beautiful. Went there as a group for dinner. Food: some of the items were brilliant, i.e. steak and seafood dish. However some of the sides weren't as good. My gripe is that the on a summer day the place was too warm and eating wasn't comfortable. Air conditioning was either off or ineffective. Prices are on the high side. Overall staff made it better with service, however I felt the two servers were over stretched but worked with a smile.

I was looking forward to our visit but the experience fell a bit short of my expectations. The service felt very slow even though there seemed to be quite a few members of staff. We ordered drinks and they took 20 mins to arrive. A second round was no quicker. One of my drinks failed to arrive but we were about to leave and it wasn't on the bill so I just let it go. I ordered the chicken kebab which was quite dry and felt more burnt than grilled. I though the fried cauliflower side dish was really delicious though. I'd probably avoid returning here in future. Also I get that hanging kebabs from hooks is their thing but for someone who has painful shoulders it just made my meal difficult to eat without having someone else touch my food.

I have eaten once there (on my own). I found the food to be very good in deed and the service to be excellent (noting the comment of a previous failed diner). Tonight is Valentines night, so it's bound to be way to busy to fit us in but I plan a slap-up dinner for two tomorrow night. Situated on the Kingsway in Swansea, I can't understand why this place ever has empty tables. Portuguese / Spanish food served in large portions really cheaply. Their two courses for 10 pounds is unbeatable for quality. Its family owned, the staff seem to all enjoy their jobs rather than just go through the motions and the food is fantastic, even if you aren't paying lunchtime deal prices.

They don't like serving single diners here I had just spent seven hours driving I was recommend Madeira restaurant I called on the off chance the place wasn't packed and there was several empty tables one of the waitresses found a table for me in the cellar and expected me to dine on my own in solitude like some some naughty school boy needless to say I walked out I was going to bring four of my customers for an evening meal but it won't be to the Madeira!!!

Only sampled the lunch menu, so hard to make much of a judgement. Having said that, it was decent food at a fair price. I had an avocado salad to start which was slightly spoiled by an over sweet dressing. Next a pork espadata. This was perfectly cooked, moist tender and tasty with just the right amount of charcoal bitter aftertaste. Served with very moreish roast potatoes and fresh perfectly al dente peas. Followed this with Portuguese egg pudding. Having eaten and enjoyed this in Portugal I was really looking forward to it. However, this was spoiled by being served on pastry and being over sweetened - presumably to conform to the British ideal of a custard tart. A shame. Service and staff couldn't be faulted. Attentive, friendly and polite. To summarise, pretty good but would benefit from being a little more Portuguese and a little less worried about scaring off the British palette.

A quality restaurant featuring Portugues cuisine. It's not your typical Portugues (chicken symbol) restaurant and offers something a little more unique. Has a menu with a mix of fish, chicken and veal dishes. Sardines and Sea Bass are good, plus the meat skewers are excellent. Try one of the sauces to go with them.
