By far the best chip shop in Swindon! Always friendly and always great fish and chips. The chicken kebabs are delicious too. So tasty with plenty of salad. Not to be overlooked is the curry sauce which is amazing poured over a plate of chips, mmmm Keep up the good work guys!

Ahhhh the Wichel Fish Bar. As a regular customer I must say this is one of the better fish and chip shops in Swindon. Standard order of large cod, large chips and curry sauce. The cod is battered very well, pockets of air in the batter give off an irresistible and mouth watering crunch - don’t settle awful casing style batter that you see in other places. Inside this delight you will discover white gold. Beautiful flakes of white gold cooked to perfection. Large chips are unbelievable value and could quite easily be a challenge for any one person to finish. The curry sauce comes in two types. You have the usual bog standard which is familiar across the fish and chip scene and Irish curry sauce which is smoother and tangier. It would be nice if they developed their own unique curry sauce to set them apart from other quality fish and chip shops, such as Phillips and the popular York road. I recommend this fish and chip shop and look forward to trying their unique curry sauce in the future.

I got a takeaway from here today and I must say I was very pleased with the service. The ladies were kind and friendly and I don't know if he's the owner or manager or whatever but the asian lad was brilliant. Loved the fact that he seemed so confident and looked like he had complete control of the kitchen. As a first time customer seeing this fills me with confidence that they run a tight ship with good quality food. Within 30 seconds of walking in he asked me if he could serve me. I was just looking to see what I wanted at that point. As soon as I moved towards the tills he told one of the girls to take my order. I love that he was aware of me without making me feel like he was rushing me. Also I noticed that he seemed to know a lot of the regulars names which is very important. Seems like he gets a lot of repeat customers. The food was hot and good quality and the prices were extremely fair. If you compare it to a dominoes or something you're getting a way better deal for a better meal. I went with the large cod and large chips and couldn't even finish it because it was such a large amount of food. Only paid like £7 which is amazing. I don't often leave reviews but I am actually looking forward to going there again so it's completely deserved. Cheers - Tez

By far the best chippy in Swindon! Everything we have had from here is lovely, not had a bad meal yet! Curry sauce is amazing and the battered sausage is beaut! Staff are super kind and friendly even when they are busy, best by far.

Ordered 2 kababs on the hour (via the website) got a call almost immediately stating there had been quite a few kabab orders and do we mind waiting till half past before collecting - not a problem. on arrival had to wait a further 15 minutes before they were ready (so 45 minutes between order and collection) They forgot the 2 drinks we chose online As they close at 9:00 they were not online to be able to rectify their error. Finally I don't think I have ever been as thirsty overnight after eating - more than after a Chinese meal with its normal MSG - so I have no idea what they put in their chicken but have a feeling it maybe MSG to make it so tasty - or maybe too much salt. On a positive note the portion size was very generous, and the kabab on a Naan bread worked well - actually too much food to eat. Bottom line : long wait, incomplete order, big very tasty portion, good value for money, leaves you thirsty !

I ordered the donor kebab meal deal for myself and the fish and chips for my partner and I have to say it was delicious. The chips and kebab were very tasty and had a great amount of salad and sauce. Couldn't quite eat it all either as the portions were big, and I really did try my best to fit it in. I'll definitely be going back!

Best fish & chips / kebabs in Swindon, the meat is fantastic and you always get a generous portion. I considered knocking a star off due to the new delivery pricing, it was going to work out nearly £8 more expensive to get the food delivered compared to collection , perhaps something that could be reviewed in the near future? (we normaly collect but was unable to on this occasion we went somewhere else) I couldn't knock a star off though because it is the nicest food ive had in a long time.

Spot on. Haddock was fresh, had just the right amount batter and was cooked perfectly. Chips, imo, were perfect. Nice and crisp on the outside and steamed on the inside.. not soggy! The chippy was immaculate and the service was friendly. Want to try the seafood basket next time..

Really good. Haddock was fresh cooked and the batter is light an crispy, not thick and stodgy and the chips were just the right crispy level but mostly good quality potatoes. Took a while but I dont mind waiting for fresh rather than stuff that sits on the shelf.
