Reviews of Ganesha Restaurant
D. A. C.
Tasty food and great service, I would recommend this restaurant for anyone who fancies a Sri Lankan dish. Only and best Sri Lankan restaurant in Watford.
A. A.
Yummy food. Generous servings and value for money. Left tummy and heart full!

Must try fried rice
Deviled chicken and sambar rice
Tried their lunch deals as well.
Overall a very good experience.
T. J.
Cafe style dining with very tasty Tamil and Indian food. Service was slightly slow however they did have a large group in (around 15 guys) before us.
Very friendly staff and we were lucky enough that the large group of Tamil guys were there for a birthday, the musical instruments came out and we had live singing for the meal.
Great place to eat
P. S.
Have eaten at Ganesha several times over the last few years and have never been let down by the service or the quality of food. Have brought friends and family here too and they have all been impressed with the food. Have tried multiple Sri Lankan restaurants in the UK and Ganesha is by far the best.
Brilliant work by the team here, I hope they realise how good they are and go from strength to strength.
S. C.
Most of the food we had was good but the Vegetarian Thali was the worst one I ever had.
A. G. E. A.
Good South Indian / Sri Lankan cuisine food. The Rasam, Sambar and the chutney were fresh and great 👍🏽. The veg noodles needs a some thought, paneer 65 was too dry or stiff. Needs improvement. Veg paratha also was good I guess but not the same taste I am used to. Which is fine every chef has his own recipes. I would recommend this place and definitely going to support this local business. Well domes guys.
A. R.
Excellent food and unbeatable value with generous portions. Home style authentic cuisine and friendly staff. Convenient parking nearby.
M. J.
Chilli Idly, chicken biryani, masala dosa, payasam, coffee. Tasty food 😍
J. J.
Omg the food here is sooo tasty. Its so fresh and so tasty.
My favs Included the chilli paneer starter, chicken friend rice, paranthas with gravy, cauliflour manchurian, alu parantha.
It's just made when you order and it's just delicious.

What a gem of a place!
Stunning South Indian food with a really friendly service. 10/10 food and 10/10 service.
Hot tip!: Get the chicken lollipops!
G. F.
Par excellence. The food is superb and really tasty. We had starters and mains and every item was really good.
R. G.
Classic Sri Lankan dishes. Take advantage of the meal deal, have string hoppers and try the coconut sambol for extra spice.
Fish cutlets on the side also! Lovely
C. M.
We ordered our first Ganesha Sri-Lanakan/South Indian food takeaway last night and were nervous whether it would be good. It was really good! And we are not easily pleased.
Medium spice was perfect and as other reviewers state, portions are good. Lamb was just the right consistency, not chewy or undercooked, nor soft and pappy. Prawns really delicious and tasty. All 5 dishes were really lovely, top marks.
Keep prices where they are and other local Indian restaurants with higher prices, will lose share to these guys.

Best South Indian/ Sri Lankan restaurant I have ever visited in England. Amazing Food, Authentic Cuisine, and Very Friendly Service.. I have eaten many times, and every time I have received delicious food.. Highly recommend, and they pay special attention to individual customer requirements. Thank you Gobi Sir, Bhaskar Sir, Vinoth, Sundaram Sir, Fazly and the entire team for the great service… :-)
W. S.
I tried it first time it was great Dosa was brilliant with same taste i had in Dubai and Mumbai. The staff is great. So kind and gentle.
s. l.
So, Glad to have a local Srilankan restaurant and most importantly catering tasty food with good balance of spice. Very friendly staff, clean environment what more can anyone ask!!!
R. T.
Amazing food!!! The Devilled Mutton is incredible, well worth a visit!
G. C.
Decent South Indian fare. I found the Indo Chinese egg fried rice to be authentic tasting. We prefer mutton biryani from here.
N.
Great Srilankan food, not oily/healthy, another favourite South Asia food.
V. B.
Good authentic South Indian restaurant for an informal lunch.
G. K. P. S.
Good south Indian Foods available.
A. M.
Fantastic food always from genuinely nice people
S. K.
Ganesha never fails to deliver great food. Their dosas are always light & crispy & they have a wide variety to choose from. I would recommend the veechu roti which is a very thin roti along with any of the curries. Their parantas are also good as are the kothu dishes. A must try.
n. d.
Wonderful service with my small takeaway orders and big orders placed when I was entertaining friends and my sons birthday parties.
The personal touch makes the whole experience that much better.
Delivery stands to be improved - time taken is just too long.
But, the food is too good to let this stop us from eating there. We just plan and go pick up. However if delivery was better/faster, we would be ordering more than once a week 😀
V. P.
Small place to eat in. Have been there just once but liked the dosa they serve.
K. P.
Warakum ana! I’m a Regular customer as love their home cooked food, fantastic flavours and spices and definitely would recommend to anyone reading this. I ordered the chicken and mutton lamb chettynadu with devilled fried lamb for starters and that was mind blowing LG tasty!!
P. K.
I am giving 5 star because this is the finest South Indian) Srilankan restaurant arround. They have a limited menu but all the items won't disappoint you. I have made a lot on online orders.
The reason I am giving this review now is because just for a change I ordered food from another Srilankan restaurant and got a list of dishes which were real bad I mean real bad.... This is the best place to get your Srilankan food from Dosha , vada, starters , kothu to fried rice highly recommended from my side...
A. M.
At a puberty ceremony me and my family impressed the lunch supplied by Ganesha Restaurant -Watford. Standard Srilankan menu including spicy curries, Rasam, vada, pappadam etc. Really a delicious menu supplier 👍
J. P.
I love this restaurant. The food you serve is very tasty and fresh too! I had to wait quite abit but it is understandable as the food is cooked fresh. As a result, it would take a bit of time. But, it was definitely worth the wait and I would highly definitely recommend Ganesha. The staff were very welcoming too!
d.
The food is simply magnificent and is true to Sri Lankan recipes - the taste is unique yet also recognisable from food in Sri Lanka. I've been a regular customer and that won't be stopping anytime soon!
R. K.
We ordered a takeaway from here, we ordered the mutton rolls, the mutton kothuroti, chicken 65 and the small Tiffin with 3 idlis, 1 vadai and sambar chutney.
Mutton rolls - flavourful and spicy (as they should be!) But dry
Chicken 65 - I wouldn't order this again, dry and chewy and not full of the 65 spices as it should be
Idli, vadai, sambar and chutney - the actual idli and vadai were soft, fresh and really well made. This was let down by the sambar and chutney which were bland and not authentic in taste
Kothuroti - this was the star of the show 😀 a classic Sri lankan dish made so well! Tasty, full or flavour and the mutton was so tender and well cooked - could have been spicier but appreciate they need to cater to all tastes.
Would definitely return just for the kothuroti!
J. P.
Dosas are amazing. We ordered veg samosa which was raw inside with a strange taste. Portions generally are great.
I. B.
Outstanding! had a quick lunch last week and taking a friend today for lunch again. Had masala dosa and vidai's beautiful and lovely owner too.
K. P.
Amazing food everytime. Very friendly owners and staff. All the food is cooked fresh to order so it can take a little longer than in most places but it is definitely worth the wait! Prices have gone up considerably which is a shame as l would say this is more of a canteen than a restaurant and should be reflected in the prices.
They have recently taken away card payment which is why l have knocked off 1 star.
s. d.
A gem of a Srilankan restaurant in the heart of watford. A bit far from high street, but still walkable.
The food here is authentic South Indian or Sinhalise cuisine. The taste totally matches with what we get back home in India or Shrilanka. The quality and portions too are quite filling. I have a lot of memmories of the place even though visited for a small time.
Do not forget to ask them to make it ligh spicy if you are not a fan of real hotttt food.
If you are in Watford and Craving Indian food, this is a must try place.
R. F.
Have eaten in, taken away and ordered for small events -& would do so again. Nice food. If u know the food u can request for slightly less salt /spice but a great place for the variety of south Indian dishes
R. R.
Have been visiting here for more than 5 years, the quality has always been consistent. They have a great Thali for lunches on Friday. For takeaway please give them at least an hour for delivery.
V. V.
We love food from this place. My favourites are coconut rice and mutton rolls. We usually get take away. Meat is fresh and matches South Indian cooking style. Staff is friendly.
C.
I am new to the area, and was asked by a very discerning friend to order some authentic Keralan/Ceylon food (please note, not "Indian" or "South Indian :) )
For those in the know, Keralan/Ceylon food is cooked differently with different spices and processes. It's not "spicy - hot" but spicy in the true sense of using good flavours and spices.
So I find myself at Ganesha with Baskar and Gobi, the two brothers who run it. And they were just amazing. They suggested the items to order (and even told me to order less and come back for more another time :) ).
The verdict: Superb food. Perfect portion sizes. And amazing people. It was all cooked to order, and tasted as it should.
I'll certainly be coming back :)
R. R.
A very typical Srilankan Restaurant. They claim to be south indian restaurant but actually they ain't. Yes they do serve some indian food here but they taste very different to the original indian recipe. Food is a bit expensive compared to the quality. Most foods are way to oily to eat
Hands down best Authentic Sri lankan / South indian food, they have an array of mouthwatering dishes which just makes me drool , my favuorites are Mutton Devil sizzling and Gobi manchurian ..
The quality and taste of the food is through the roof and it is easy on the wallet.
The service team at priya were happy to accomodate all my requests, moreover this place is very ideal for parties , they have a hall downstairs which can be rented at no extra cost provided the party is ordering food , they can provide hall with giant bluetooth woofer speakers, there is a cozy patio for smoking.
Truly recommed this iconic restaurant to everyone
Very nice restaurant. From a large choice of nearby similar restaurants I chose this one based on the decor I could see from outside; the others looked too garish for a relaxed meal, which is what I was looking for.
The service was excellent, my waiter couldn't do enough for me and was more than happy to help explain dishes I was unfamiliar with. Decent sized portions and very tasty. Usually with a curry they try to skimp on the meat but here the meat is plentiful so with that in mind I was very happy to pay what I did for the meal, and leave a tip.
Decor is really nice and relaxing, just enough lighting to be able to see what you're eating and provide a soothing atmosphere at the same time. My one and only discomfort was that the front door shuts too slowly and let's all the cold air in (during winter of course) when customers arrive, but looking around it was clear that I was the only one who didn't know this being a first time customer, as everyone else was seated on the other side of the restaurant.
Will definitely visit again in the future.
P. P.
Fresh food nice decor newly refurbished.
G. M.
Amazing food and very good service
F. B.
Great food, at a great price. Staff are super nice, welcoming and accomodating. Good place to take children for a family meal but is equally as great for any other occasion.

Food was too good in quality and taste wise. A perfect South Indian restaurant to opt for. Highly recommended!
k.
It was amazing place with fabulous food with exotic spices of India and Sri Lanka and a nice place for a meal with the finest customer service out there-Nithya
J. V.
delicious food nice Anna was in reception
A. M.
Authentic freshly prepared S.Indian cuisine. Very reasonably priced. Loved the group of elderly gents who rocked out their harmonicas and drums - treating us to some impromptu musical entertainment!
V. P.
Great South Indian fare. The parata's are very similar to Malaysian Roti Canai's and to all fellow Malaysians who crave home food, this place comes highly recommended. Service is a bit slow though especially if they have many customers since food is cooked only to order, so be prepared to wait! Parking is not great either, so use the side roads to park and walk in.
O. T.
Good restaurant, fresh food. Labelling could be better and more knowledge for what's vegan would help. Food was overall good. Service was slow even when we were the only ones in the restaurant.
R. K.
This has been our local for takeaway and delivery for the last 3 years, and we decided to eat here for the first time with friends this weekend . As expected the food was just as nice, and our friends were also happy with their dishes. Fresh food . wait the worth
B. L.
Really nice food and price is good. The service provided was fantastic. I highly recommend the masala dosai. It was delicious and I highly recommend! I I will definitely be returning :)
a.
Their option to deliver is amazing. I especially love their pacoras! I love everything about them except that the food is too spicy.
D. C.
Love this restaurant, staff always welcome you. Food is great but arrives randomly which is all part of the experience., so have patience and enjoy yourselves.
J. S.
This is an amazing restaurant with great food. My favourite south Indian restaurant in London. Staffs are friendly and very hygienic. I would recommend to anyone.
A. D. (.
One of the best foods i've had in watford. The chilli paneer, chilli chicken and biryanis are all so nice. I normally get them made to be extra spicy. Would recommend this to anyone who likes good indian/Sri Lankan food
R.

S. S.
Tasty, reasonably priced Sri lankan food. Friendly staff. Will visit again
s. w.
Not necessarily amazing surroundings nor haute cuisine, but very tasty. The kottu - a bit of a chopped up mix of a dish with the consistency of egg fried rice - is wonderful.
R. B.
Great little place. Love going there. People are friendly, food is fresh, hot and tasty! Prices are very reasonable. Thoroughly recommend it.
A. G.
Amazing food! Best Sri Lankan food in Watford! A must try for everyone!
S. S.
Food tastes good here. We tried non veg thalli and vegetable briyani. However South Indian foods like dosa and idli from the menu looks costly.
