This was extremely pleasant dinner for 8 people including 4 kids. The staff is very friendly. The food is beyond my expectations, so fresh and so well prepared. Well done. Kudos to the chef!

I have chicken tikka, peshwari naan and extra mint sauce when I get a takeaway from here and it's delicious every time, the mint sauce is spot on, not like all the other places that do very milky weak sauce, this is still the proper stuff, the peshwari naan has been spot on too with enough sweet coconuty squidgy stuff inside and as a takeaway it's a bargain price. Very friendly people that work in there too.

😬Being asain, having had many currys in my life i can safely say this curry was one of the worst I've had, it tastes nothing like what a curry should taste like😬 sorry I'm being honest😌, it does not cater for an asian palette, very sweet and bland, small portion & hardly any meet in the curry, it was full of sauce bits, the pilau rice was boiled rice with yellow colouring (thats basically boiled rice) if you think I'm exaggerating check the picture and spot the lamb meat, its drowned, theres random bits floatting at the top which i assume is the onions and tomatoes😒. For anyone wanting a 🍅 soup kind of curry & meat that you have to fish around for then this is the restaurant for you. The naan, poppadoms and mango chutney was nice tho👌 and the staff were plesant. Sorry this is my honest feedback so people can have a better idea of what they going to eat I ONLY WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT BASED ON THE REVIEWS so honest reviews are crucial.

The food is very good the staff are very nice. Only problem is if you sit in the restaurant and eat you can pay by car bank card but if you do take outTo pay by cash, Cha can't understand that 1 cause when you use your bank card the money goes straight out of your account while you're there anyway so that's why I've give it a 3 instead of a 5.

A great little restaurant that serves absolutely sumptuous foods. I had a Shabji Malai which was infused with a whole range of beautiful flavours. We tried Bengal Brasserie after looking at all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, this place didn't disappoint. The menu was really nice and I didn't think it was too pricey, although Indian restaurants are never cheap. The starters and mains include fish dishes, which I had the tandoori salmon, which was really nice. The food was lovely and had plenty of meat in our mains. The staff are really friendly and opened the door when we left after the meal.

Just finished a fantastic meal here. The service was attentive without hovering, and staff were all very helpful. The food was very tasty and there was a great variety on the menu. Serving all the curries you'd expect, and some tasty looking specials, we both ordered something new and throughly enjoyed our food. The naan bread was particularly nice, even if we didn't finish both! On our booking form (booked via website) we mentioned we were coming to celebrate a birthday. I didn't think anything would come of mentioning this because most places don't bother. How wrong I was! At the end of the meal, they brought out a free pudding and we each got a small complimentary drink. We were both very surprised that they'd remembered and even more surprised that they acted on it. Thanks to their fab food, great service and a lovely attention to detail, we'll be back very soon. Can't wait to order our next takeaway from them too. The bottom line is, we'd thoroughly recommend a visit!

We were on an overnight visit uo York and chose yo eat here after reading several reviews. Prompt service, lovely food and very attentive staff. After some good poppadoms and dips we shared an onion bhaji and a potato and lentil 'cake' which were lovely. My wife had the paneer curty and I had a lamb special. Both were excellent. Worth visiting if you are in York. A nice touch was the free Baileys after the meal.

Booked this place based on the reviews and jeez, what a fabulous restaurant! The food is outstanding. The spices are the stars of the show of course, and the balance of flavour in each dish we had (from the banging chutneys, the rich and generously-spiced butter chicken, sublime onion rice, and proper garlicky garlic naan) was simply amazing. The staff are lovely and just seem to really enjoy being there. Special mention to Saf who is eminently knowledgeable about the food and the provenance of all the spices (we tested him!). Incredible value for money as well. Look after these guys, York, we'll definitely be returning soon.

My sister and I treated ourselves to a night away in York for her 40th birthday and being an ex pat returning from Oz she was craving a decent Indian meal so we booked this restaurant. It was the York Races. We hadn't been to the races but were not surprised it was super busy. Despite this, the staff were happy, attentive and friendly and clearly familiar with the menu. The food didn't disappoint and was both delicious and nicely presented. A complimentary drink and a cake/candle with singing from the staff despite being so busy ! We left feeling like old friends !

Visited 26 Feb. Arrived here on an unusually quiet night and got a table straight away. Poppadoms were very fresh, my partners Special mixed Korai was very tasty, my Lamb Kushbuka was rich with beautifully cooked meat, the garlic rice and the mushroom rice also excellent and the garlic and coriander nan is also recommended. The only fault i could find with the food is it was a little under seasoned but that's a minor issue and a personal opinion of mine. The service is A1 without being overbearing or intrusive. Worth visiting again.

We recently visited Bengal Brasserie The Restaurant during York vacation for dinner and it was good experience. We order Liver Chicken in starter and it was very good in taste. We had Sylheti Special Chicken and Special Fish Bhuna in mains and both dishes were delicious, liked very much. Chicken was bit hard though. White fish pieces were nicely cooked with garlic and spices giving a dish of strong flavours. Whenever you visit York, you must tried.

Visited here last night and have to say what a fabulous place this is. From the moment we arrived we were treated so well. Extremely friendly, efficient staff. Food was to die for, starter/main meal delicious. Loved the salad in the red onion. Very pretty. We were given a free glass of wine and a coffee. I ordered takeaway for dinner tonight and I was disappointed with what I got seeing that this restaurant had very good reviews. I had the chicken Rogan josh and the first thing I noticed was the OIL! it was just absolutely too much oil in it! I had to pour out quite a lot of the excess oil. It spoiled the overall taste of the dish for me. Chicken korma was quite sweet and I suppose I'm used to the korma that I was served in Asia where it was more savoury than sweet. The veg biriyani was a little bit oily too and this is my first time having biriyani that's kinda oily. The only positive I could say was the pilau rice was good and so was the poppadoms. 😳 Overall my dinner tonight was pretty oily. Hope they could use wayyy lesser oil in their cooking. That would bring out so much more of the flavour of the dishes.

Went to the bengal Indian last night and had an amazing meal. The food is excellent. We had poppadoms, then onion bahjis, meat samosas. For main chicken naga and a balti with a king prawn biryini and it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. The staff are fantastic jay made us very welcome and the manager gave us a nice table as I had booked up earlier in the year. They never rush you which is nice you can just enjoy and take your time. I recommend you all to go and have a fantastic meal here you won't regret it. We will be making this our regular Indian now and can't wait to return. See u soon guys thanks for an amazing night. Well so disappointed . The food was very bland chicken tikka masala was more like a korma !!! But the worst part about the visit is how they cram the tables so close together. We were regular visitors to the restaurant before it changed owners but so disappointed from this visit. We felt rushed as they were wanting our table when we hadn’t even finished!!! I know it is New Year’s Eve but when you book in advance I don’t expect this. What more can I say !

I have eaten several times at The Bengal Brasserie over the last few years and generally have enjoyed the experience without being bowled over. However, my last visit was totally underwhelming. I tried the Chicken Pasanda which was far too mild even for a pasanda and had no hint of almonds. My keema naan was burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. My co-diners also felt their food was well below their expectations for a restaurant which promotes itself as the best in York. We did consider requesting a reduction in the bill, but decided not to as we didn't want the hassle. The decor is, however, pleasant and the service efficient if not particularly friendly. Certainly nowhere near as good as the Viceroy or the Jinnah.
