We were on the hunt for some where to eat and cane across this place. We went on a Wednesday where they offer 2 for 1 on selected burgers, we got the Kenney burger and I forgot the other one it was chicken and beef, we also got loaded nachos plus a beer and a cider. We paid about £35 in total which we thought was reasonable for everything we got! We were both stuffed and could not finish it all, the portions here are huge! The staff were excellent and very friendly, was a great meal out and highly recommended. If you are in York and fancy a burger give this place a shot!

After leaving the Railway Museum it was almost dry again and we decided to have an early dinner, because our legs were definitely very tired after such a long day. We went into this restaurant, which I believe is a mix with another place called Sotano. Chiel had the steak & fries and I had the taco's. We had a good dinner, decided to spend another 2 hours there with some drinks and enjoying the live music in a very English Pub. Thanks to staff for a lovely late afternoon/early evening 👍🏻😘.

This is a unique experience. We are quite old, but we didn't feel out of place due to the staffs friendly attitude. Of course the food was great. Plus we got a good free bottle of wine with our meals. York was our first visit, but I'll check out other Kennedy's on our travels.

Really pleased we chose this place, as recommended by our Air b&b host. We booked a roast on a Sunday at 1600 as we were told it gets really busy and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t, food was outstanding and staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend but book if you are eating more towards lunchtime.

Stopped here for a quick drink yesterday. The gentleman behind the bar who served us (forgot to get his name) was really friendly and helpful. The drinks are reasonably priced. Nice place.

The steaks and steak burgers we had recently were delicious. Succulent and cooked to perfection and can strongly recommend. Friendly and attentive service and not overpriced for the location of the resteraunt in the centre of York. The restaurant was busy,always a good signe. A good selection of cocktails and gins. Our final drinks order did take some time to come ,not surprising on how busy they were .However when it did arrive the waiter apologised and said it's on the house . What more can I say. A great experience, we will be back.

Good food and friendly service from the staff and crew. Helpful and polite wait staff however was some slight wait for the food, when it arrived was perfect for a rainy day in York, others seem to enjoy the loaded fries and burgers, whilst I had their signature dish the bullette which was brilliant. Of note is the kids eat free offer, so your kids can also enjoy the delectable food from the kitchen.

It's no sotanos but the live music is sometimes good. Drinks were alright and the staff were polite though I've yet to see how they would act on a busy night. That's where one's true worth is usually tested. Toilets are upstairs and downstairs and the condition is different depending on the time. Edit: Oh somebody's read the review and it must've touched a nerve! No need to be so passive aggressive with your post Mr. Owner, just keep it cool and improve.

The Sunday dinner was AMAZING!! I had the beef and my boyfriend had the lamb. Both so good. A member of the team recommended the sticky toffee pudding and that was a really good shout! The team were lovely and polite as well

Nice little place for some drinks. They do offer food too but we didn't have any. Staff were friendly and they had a good drinks selection. The spirits weren't listed on the drinks menu, we wanted to try a few different gins while we were there so made it a bit more difficult to order but not a huge issue at all.

The staff were very pleasant, even though we were annoying by asking for a cider served in a handle glass to be in a stem glass instead, and we had a lovely lunch of chicken and chorizo skewers and loaded chips. Absolutely outstanding food. Pepper sauce with the chicken and chorizo kebabs is almost as good as the kebabs themselves and the chips are up there on the best list. Better yet the staff were amazing and so welcoming straight five stars just for them 👍

Staff are accommodating. On their toes to help us get a table and communicated clearly. We've been walking around town looking for a place to eat and out of all the pubs, this was the most welcoming. Food was great. Perfect steak and chips are amazing.

We ordered a take out Sunday roast lunch while restaurant are impacted with Covid restrictions. Easy to order and collect - although I understand delivery is available - and the chilled food (roast beet, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, red cabbage, Yorkshire pudding and gravy) was easy to heat up within 23 minutes with clear instructions. A really tasty treat and made better with a homemade banoffee cheesecake. Highly recommended and excellent value given the portion size and quality.

Loved it here. Came about 2 months ago (November) and didn’t have anything bad to say about it. It’s one of the nicest restaurants/bars I’ve been to, to be completely honest. Amazing food, great 2for1 drinks, friendly staff. As I live in London I have a large variety of cuisine and choice but I’m thinking of making another trip up to York just to visit again haha.

Went for lunch yesterday, we found that the majority of the food on the menu was half price.. bonus!! All the staff were attentive and friendly; the service really was excellent. Myself and my partner both ordered the steak frite, and wow! The steak was absolutely beautiful. It was bavette, (flank steak, if you haven't tried this cut of meat you really must!) cooked and seasoned to perfection! 👌 and for less than £6 each!! Crazy. Peppercorn sauce and onion rings extra, why not 🙂 no regrets lol and we also had nachos to start, which were so good. We left feeling really spoiled and full to bursting! The bill was £26, drinks included. We were blown away with the quality and price, and we told everyone about how good it was lol. Definitely planning return visits, keep up the good work!!

Cycled down from Durham today with a mate. We were looking at the menu outside when one of the staff came out to see if we were ok. He kindly offered to secure our bikes for us in their hostel next door while so we could eat inside. We were very grateful for this. Inside, all of the staff were very pleasant and the food was lovely. The same gentleman who stored our bikes offered to fill up out water bottles without us even asking. I will certainly be back. Honestly tonight's experience wasn't amazing, the wait staff were lovely I couldn't fault their customer service the food however..... This wasn't amazing. Me and my partner ordered the steak and frites for her and the steak and blue cheese sandwich and a side order of sweet potato fries. Honestly having worked in hospitality and as a chef when I saw the simple menu and write up on the quality of their meats etc I had high expectations. If you go simple make your ingredients shine. It's really that simple. My expectations were not met. We waited 25 mins for food to arrive(it really wasn't busy enough to warrant that long of a wait) , both steaks were very tough, my partners was over done and under seasoned I was not even asked how I wanted my steak so that wasn't an option, an to be quite honest it had a very funky flavour to it which disagreed with my palette. I like blue cheese roasted peppers etc but honestly for me the combo didn't work not to mention the sandwich was due to cost me essentially £10 which I feel is honestly over priced for a sandwhich and a small bowl of crisps. I will say though the sweet potato fries were absolutely lovely and the wait on staff dealt with it in a very professional manner. They are an absolute credit to you.

Everyone was really helpful from booking to the party itself. The room we had was adequate for 30 people and the private bar helped. One thing i was disappointed with was the food. It was 1/2 hour late from the time i asked and for the price per head, i would have liked a little more. Although very nice, just not quite enough, small portions of the most popular food.

Got there before lunchtime but was able to just sit and have tea and toast (toast was brilliant, by the way) and let the baby roam and play. Excellent place to stop as I kinda just needed a sit down and food after a long day/week exploring with baby. Music was good, food good, atmosphere, all good. I got the ribs which were amazing, and I was surprised because I'm from the American South, but I supremely enjoyed them: flavorful, tender, etc etc Special shout out to Robyn who kept an eye on me and baby which made it possible for me to take a bit of a mental break. Best burger of my life. It was seasoned wonderfully with onion and spices in the patty, and cooked perfectly, juicy but not dripping. They were doing a 2 for 1 special on hamburgers, the chips and sweet potatoes fries were crispy but not overdone. They also had a great selection of beer and wine, it was fun to try some local brews and the bartender gave some great recommendations. My husband and I were in the area for a month visiting family and this was the best meal of our entire trip. We intended to make it a quick lunch but actually canceled our afternoon plans in order to say and enjoy the food and atmosphere longer.

Visited here twice during our weekend in York primarily because they were good with kids. The first day was excellent for Sunday roast. However, on our second trip, it was almost like we didn't exist. They messed up our order and then I had to go to the bar to get it corrected because there was no wait staff to be seen. When we confronted the manager, she acted like she could care less. Guess they aren't hurting for business enough yet....

Kennedys was the only restaurant we visited more than once during our recent stay in York. It was clean with excellent staff and phenomenal food. The drinks were perfectly balanced and made with care. But, the topper was the fried chicken. Kennedys fried chicken might be the best I've ever had. As an American whose had fried chicken all over the United States, this is almost painful to admit. It's like a Brit saying the best fish and chips they've ever had was in Topeka, Kansas. It was tender, perfectly cooked, and deliciously coated. I'm salivating now just thinking about it. When we finally go back across the pond, and travel to York, I guarantee I know where I'll be eating first, and what I'm ordering. Guaranteed.

My girlfriend and I went on Valentines night and got the 3 course set menu for £20 and it was amazing! I had the prawns to start, although well decorated the food itself was a little thin on the ground, however my girlfriend's goats cheese salad was superb. The stuffed chicken for mains acted as a safe option, but was served deliciously with a crisp skin and moist inner. The pan fried sea bass was also brilliant. Desserts were both superb, my girlfriend had the chocolate brownie, which was very rich and rather moist, served with the most delicious ice creams I've tasted outside of Italy. I opted for the cheese board and was in for a world of surprises. A range of 4 cheeses, all very full of flavor despite lacking in the nose, served with an amazing chutney and all presented well. There is a nice alfresco eating area both upstairs and downstairs, and they double as delightful smoking areas (something that always tickles my fancy). The only problem with the night was the music, however we suspect this was due to us eating late and the bar turning up the music for the guests, however the music should have been quieter upstairs Apart from that one minor problem a brilliant night, with superb food especially for the money
