Outstanding North African food in the heart of York. Each item is amazing. The haddock croquettes were especially delicious. The whipped feta is very good, comes with pitas dripping in olive oil. The fish fillet is also very tasty.

I had some of the most delicious food I have eaten for a long time in this stylish, yet laid back restaurant, which serves North African cuisine. The cassoulet was rich and tasty and the cheesecake with turkish delight was outstanding.

A wonderful experience for our wedding anniversary not least the lovely touch of an anniversary dessert! The lamb rump (35 day aged) was sublime best we've ever tasted. The aubergine dip flat breads and spiced potatoes all very good great flavour.

Fabulous! No other way to describe This place. The food, service and ambiance. Everything was simply fabulous! We ordered the chicken, eggplant dip and sausages for appetizer. The chicken was just cooked so perfectly! And the lemon mayonnaise that it comes with was so tasty my son would not stop dipping his flatbread in it! Ordered one each of the cassoulet, lamb shanks, braised beef and chicken tagine. Again everything was cooked to perfection especially the chicken (I keep mentioning this because so many places overcook chicken breast)! The cassoulet was on the spicier side but yummy.

Perfect. Inside there are around 15 covers downstairs and same again upstairs. There is also a large outdoor area. It is all beautifully designed and fitted. The staff were diligent and friendly. On to the food… excellent! We had 6 small plates between two of us. That was plenty! Delicious and well priced!

Very good food and service located right in the Shambles. Highly recommended. Had the ZFC chicken - great portion and very delicious. The Falafel was generous and great as well The garlic bread was delicious sourdough with very subtle garlic flavour. The king prawns were big but lacking in flavour. It was also not deveined - a bit disappointing. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended

In my view this is the best restaurant in York. Trendy North African (Moroccan etc.) restaurants with a compact menu full of interesting, punchy dishes. Everything we tried was tasty, cooked perfectly and full of interesting flavours. The Sea Bass main was exceptional and we really liked the starters of the croquettes and the spicy Merguez sausages. The restaurant is nicely decorated, North African style, its comfortable and fun to be in, with indoor and outdoor seating. The service is professional and friendly. We really enjoyed our visit and we will certainly come back again. Highly recommended.

Absolutely stunning food and experience, one of our highlights of our visit to York. We had a selection of small plates to share and absolutely everything was amazing! Particular favourites were the chicken and the houmous. 100% recommend and definitely coming back on our next visit. Thank you to all the friendly and attentive staff supporting us with the menu as we are both visually impaired. Not sure if wheelchair users could get upstairs to the restaurant, but believe there is seating downstairs too.

Loads of seating available upstairs, comfortable and with good service. The menu was well thought out, the small plate menu was the winner for us and it was all so full of flavour. Will happily recommend and hopefully be back when next visiting.

Fresh, tasty and very good value. Friendly service which is always a bonus. Set in the heart of York, you can't go far wrong for a filling lunch time treat as the tasty wraps at Los Moro's. We tried both the lamb and chicken offerings and were impressed by the taste and freshness of the ingredients. I thought at first that the price was a little steep for a wrap but given the location, taste and amount you are served I think that it was well worth the money. Recommended - definitely.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Between two of us we shared one large plate and five small plates and were completely stuffed. Every single dish was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. If you are in York this is definitely a place to visit!

We arrived at 6pm without a reservation but were lucky to get an outside table in their delightful patio. We had starters, main corse and dessert. All were delicious but the cheesecake was outstanding - from the presentation to the taste, just mouthwatering! We had hummus, nuts and salad as shared starters and then the caselet and slow cook ox for mains as stated previously, all were delicious. My husband chose the almond pudding as his dessert (probably because he didn't want to share with me and I don't like almond cake) but I was in dessert heaven with the cheesecake! We had a lovely waiter. A pitcher of water was given as soon as we arrived. Another review mentioned the frequent changes of napkins - this happened with us but as we we eating with our fingers during the starter we we were grateful for fresh serviettes. However, I would agree about the plates being taken when others were still eating. Having waitress experience I was always instructed not to do this. But in general the service was great.

The food was good and clearly freshly prepared, we had a few bits from the small plates menu and the beef from the mains. All the small plates are great, especially enjoyed the anchovies. The service kind of ruined it for us, we have dined at high end restaurants and understand there is a level of service to be expected however Los moros didn’t quite get it right in my opinion, the waiter literally stood over our table about 4ft away pretty much watching us and felt it necessary to swap our napkins anytime we touched one, I’m being serious, you might use a napkin to wipe something so small and he would reach over your food to retrieve and give you a new one. My partner eats a lot slower than I do and she doesn’t like to be eating alone at the table so I prefer to keep my plate but twice I had to say no to even keeping my plate. It actually made us uncomfortable so we paid up and left, I imagine the experience is similar to eating in a canteen in prison with a guard constantly watching you. The hummus was delicious however and nearly makes up for it…

Prepare yourselves for a feast! I love shared food and this is a perfect place for it.every single dish I tried was delicious, but my favourite are probably the croquettes and halloumi and carrot salad. Rather a small friendly place, good for lunch with friends or family. Open kitchen and lovely staff!

Every item on their menu has been chosen with such thought using a local brewery for their custom beers, an unusual wine list (the Hungarian wine was delicious) and excellently thought out ingredients for their dishes. It had a lovely interior, great location, super friendly staff (the guy working - sorry i didn't get his name - was incredibly knowledgeable and the manager was a delight!) and of course the food was out of this world! Additional plus points were: Eat Out to Help Out scheme, they allow dogs, and had lots of options for both meat eaters and vegans. Our only teeny-tiny gripe was that they asked us if we 'wanted' the 50% government discount (who doesn't, right!?) - it isn't automatically offered, but they had just opened that night for the first time since lockdown so perhaps it was just a blip? Overall we give it a 10/10 and have already recommended it to others! Thank you so much, can't wait to come back!

Very moorish! Pardon the pun, but you will find yourself adding to the order to sample every option on the menu. Tucked away in a side street not far from the Shambles, you’ll find a bright interior with clean lines and convivial atmosphere. The restaurant has evolved from an outlet near the market place which still runs to this day. The smells will make your tummy rumble, so don’t dither with counting your calories. The Bourek is a good combo of sweet and savoury. The brik pastry not dissimilar to filo. Sadly they’ve discontinued the crab version. Go wild with the starters as they’re all good. You’ll regret not ordering the merguez or zaalouka. My mussels were exquisite. For once I had no food envy with my wife’s sea bass. I was hoping for asida but was not disappointed with the rose cheesecake or with my semolina and almond cake which may have been basbousa. If you have the time, wash it down with hot etzai or enjoy their own label IPA. Bil hana wish shifa!

Very tasty food! Been here a number of times and never been disappointed. Good selection of drinks on offer, particularly like the custom ales. Lots of vegetarian options and plenty of choice for meat eaters too. Will be going again and recommend to others! Has plenty of seating indoors and some seating space outdoors.

What a find! The lamb shank was perhaps the best lamb I have had ever. It fell off the bone and dissolved in a burst of flavour in the mouth. The halloumi was done in a way I'd never experienced before, and it was by far the best I have ever had. The hummus and sourdough were also beautiful. The main meals are expensive, but we shared one main meal and a few sides amongst four and spent only £9 a head.

Superb quality food. Really good flavours. Nice to have something more unusual. The Persian Chicken was a real delight. A little on the pricier side. £6.50 for a can of craft beer (made for the restaurant by Brew York) is a touch rich, but we were warned prior so no quibbles. Service was excellent throughout.

The Persian chicken was out of this world! One of the tastiest and most flavorsome meals I've had in a long time! 💕 unreal! We had a lovely waitress who was super friendly, a real credit to the place. Also nice to see independent drink choices, I opted for a lemony lemonade from karma cola. Delish! Luckily got a table on a Saturday night at this unassuming but lovely little restaurant in old part of York. We ordered 6 different North African small tapas plates and each one was well flavoured and really enjoyable. Prices were reasonable and we finished off with a lovely mint tea. Prices were average. Would visit again and maybe next time try the main courses.

Wow. Just wow! When in York and you stumble across a restaurant, with amazing food, and super friendly staff, you just say wow. Maybe you order a tad bit too much food, but it was totally worth it. I would say it was probably worth the visit to York alone. 🌟Firstly, they where very dog friendly, and didn't mind us bringing 3 dogs in. 🌟Secondly they where very professional when dealing with a nut allergy. 🌟Thirdly service was top class. I visited Los Moros seeing how it was rated 4.6 stars on Google Maps. And I loved it! We had the lamb shank and roasted fish. While the fish was delightful, the lamb shank blew my mind. It was melt in my mouth soft and the flavor was beautifully herby and savory. The mash complemented the lamb shank well. Service was decent, though I took a star off because they didnt have receptacles for kids. Plates were porcelain and kids may break them. Else overall a great experience!

I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is immaculate. Me and my partner shared 4 small plates between us for lunch and everything we had was amazing. Especially the zatar fried chicken. This was some of the best chicken I have ever had. The service was amazing. The waitress was funny and very attentive. The food was absolutely beautiful, the ZFC chicken was our favourite but everything else we had was very tasty too, the ZFC chicken just stood out to us. We were told that service would be slower due to the fact they were a chef down in the kitchen, we appreciated being told but the speed of service was still fantastic, we got our food in a very reasonable time. Wow! What an amazing meal we have just had at Los Moros! From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and welcoming. There was the slightest delay for our table (no more than 5 minutes) and we were offered complimentary drinks and frequent apologies. Once we were seated the service was excellent. Yumi was our server and she was absolutely delightful! Friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. We had a mix of small and large dishes with the butternut squash tagine, smoked haddock croquettes, ZFC chicken, batata hara and beef tanjia. It was all delicious. Lovely and fresh and wonderful flavour combinations. Despite being quite full we couldn’t resist the desserts, chocolate and cardamom mousse, almond and semolina cake and raspberry and rose cheesecake. We were not disappointed, they all tasted amazing. The chef came and spoke with us at the end of the evening, an absolutely lovely guy, really humble and grateful for our custom. It was our first experience of North African food but we are definitely planning on returning to Los Moros. Thank you all so much.

Absolutely incredible food. Probably the best dinner we had whilst in York for the week. The service whilst there was very good, and the restaurant itself had a lovely vibe. 4 stars unfortunately due to the extremely poor service prior to our booking. We wanted to move the booking back slightly, so called around 10 times before.... No answer. I messaged them on Instagram, it was read and ignored. Their Facebook page also stated they were closed, which panicked me even further. We ended up rushing to the booking to see it was in fact open. I tagged them in a photo on my Instagram story and they replied straight away reposting it! Unbelievable 😂 Book in advance so you have time to actually receive a response and ignore their random opening hours. The food is worth it.

Visited here on the last day in October before the second lockdown with our puppy. Great service, great food and a nice place. Ordered the 'Chicken, potatoes, olives + preserved lemon tajine' that was very tasty. One small comment is that I would have preferred for it to have been served in a tajine dish as opposed to on a plate. Would highly recommend.

Wanted to come here for a long time and yesterday (27/01/2020) was my first time here. Went to this place with 3 friends for lunch. Ate here tonight (19/11/19). Great food but the experience was somewhat spoiled by a very rude, condescending and angry waitress. Slamming down our plates when serving and shouting at her trainee colleague. Shame we didn’t get her name. The waitress who dealt with our payment was much nicer. I suggest you manage the waitress with the bad attitude if you want to keep your good reputation. Let’s hope she’s not working when we return!

Excellent food served freshly cooked. They give you a pager so you can go get a coffee or shop while they cook. The food was delicious and hot! Price was higher than I'm used to but comparable to the other food stalls. There was a terrific choice of food from around the world like Indian, Italian, Mexican etc. There is a seating area in the middle with the stalls around. There is also a small market close by.

Great restaurant, food was both authentic and interesting with each dish having an unexpected twist. Excellent service, meals arrive quickly and were piping hot when served up. Really like the simple but effective decor, the rooms weren't too busy with a nice take on middle-eastern art murals. My only criticism is that I found the food a bit too salty, so much so that the more delicate flavours in each dish were eclipsed. Would definitely go back.
