Thought I'd grab lunch while taking photos in York, so visited the Shambles Kitchen to see what was new. Decided on Smokehouse Burritos. Service was quite quick, guys were polite, prices weren't bad and the burrito was tasty and made in front of you too, definitely recommended 👌

Beef barbacoa was just out of this world. So yummy! You can grab your sandwich and drink, head towards the market where there are sitting areas.

It looks fancier than it tastes. So the famous Shambles Kitchen fairy fairy sandwich! The sandwich is good. But the bread in the bottom is very soggy when we get there. It doesn’t taste spicy at all. Don’t think we would like waste another £8 on this sandwich again.

Amazing quality street food. We had "Harry Trotter" pulled pork, juicy, tender and big portion, just right sauce. If you are foodie, I think this is a must-go when you visit the Shambles!

Shambles Kitchen in the Little Shambles is the place to go for an absolutely banging sandwich in York. The Pulled Pork ‘Harry trotter’ and the Beef Reuben ‘Dick Terpin’ are both exceptional, however, be prepared to have a little nap after.

For lunch today, I went to the off building shambles kitchen smokehouse, where they sell burritos, tacos, and salad bowls, the tacos there are amazing! You choose between 4 meat and jackfruit choices, you get 3 tacos, 1 meat or jackfruit each, and then you can get toppings, which are all free, I suggest going with chicken, beef, and jackfruit choices. The employees there are exceptionally good, in behaviour and cooking style! Overall the food was amazing, and so were the employees, I highly recommend this place.

This was our first time in York. We had pulled pork and Beef Barbacoa. It’s just so good and so fresh !! We went back again before leaving York. Staffs were very friendly!! Hope you could open a branch in London one day 🤤❤️

Amazingly good food. Bbq was tender and pull-able Simon experienced bbq in south Carolina. They smoke their own meats out-back. I had the daily meaty special. Outstanding combination of smoked pork and beef. I also had the Reuben. I met the baker, Jim, dropped off the rye rolls as I waited. Swiss, Swedish mustard and again, tender smoked beef. Nice people to boot.

Shambles Kitchen did our wedding catering in September this year. Having to make a catering choice seemed a difficult task and we were just not blown away by anyone until I spoke to Simon from Shambles Kitchen via a referral. From the first second I could totally feel Simon’s passion for food which was so important to us. What we requested was not what Shambles Kitchen are known for (we requested an Italian theme), but the result could not have been any better. The tasting they offered to us was both fun and gave us so much confidence for our big day. On the wedding day, they did an incredible job and I still have guests telling me how good the food was. Simon was a delight to collaborate with, communication was perfect and his energy shone through as did the rest of his teams. Couldn’t recommend any higher. Thank you again ☺️

Oye. Eat here! I was in a bad mood when I arrived in York yesterday, then I decided to have a sandwich from Shambles Kitchen and it probably single handedly saved my day. It was so delicious I can't begin to describe so instead I'll just say that I'm an American Chef and this was the best Barbacoa Sandwich I've had since the last time I was in Texas, and the best sandwich I've had in the UK. Absolutely sublime. 11/10 Will eat again.

Easily one of my new favourite places in the UK! Love everything about it. Exactly what I look for... simple, fresh and delicious!! It should be on everyone's list to go in York. Small, well crafted menu that gets rotated. Incredibly fresh ingredients that gives the food great flavour. Grab one of the sandwiches or wraps to go... or sit in and relax while chatting with the awesome staff. The staff just adds to great atmosphere. They were even good enough to give me suggestions for dinner, that I'm so glad I listened to. Although York may not be as fun and exciting as Fife, this restaurant definitely kicks it up a notch! :)

This was my favorite food I've had in England, and I hope to return here every time I'm in York. I've spent a fair bit of time in Texas, where they take barbeque and smoked meats very seriously, and the food I got here would hold it's own there too. My partner and I decided to do our own little "Shambles Kitchen Tour" of York and visit their burrito and sausage stands as well as the sandwich shop. Everything was magical, and after much debate we've agreed the barbacoa sandwich was the best, but we also plan to return to do more taste testing.

No complaints whatsoever, the staff are chill, really down to earth. The interior is very up to date/has its finger to the pulse. I had a Pork burrito, it was smoky, with bursts of fresh coriander; the spicy slaw was tongue tingling. Based on the positive reviews here, I decided to have lunch there today. It was a good choice! I had the pastrami that someone else had mentioned - in a rye roll, with pickles, cheese, slaw and a very nice sauce. Well worth it. I was the last person to get one - the pastrami was now sold out, and the pulled pork was already sold out. This was a bit after 3pm. So, don't leave it too late if you want some!

Interesting project kitchen that manages to be one of the most exciting food destinations in York despite operating out of a shop the size of a small bedroom. Good lunchtime food, for takeaway or to eat in at a couple of small tables. The standard pulled pork is worth a visit by itself, but there's also always something else on the go, plus a range of soup and sandwich options and good smoothies.

The service was nice and quick but the esthetic was a bit undesirable due to the many gargoyle masks for sale quite beautiful pottery and skeleton shifting pictures of people also where I was sitting there was a huge skeleton figure for sale also over my head. You can read the history of the restaurant and it is apparently haunted by Nelson. The staff where welcoming but not very friendly.
