S. H.What an amazing afternoon with friends, we had a party of 4 for a 2 hour bottomless brunch. Our visit was made extra special by Kirsten, she was obviously rushed off her feet, but still managed to make us feel like we were VIP guests. Top marks for food, value for money and a big thank you Kirsten for making it special.

K. F.As far as slug & lettuce go unfortunately this was one of the poorer ones I've been in. It wasn't packed by any means, about 3/4s of the tables were empty of people, but not empty of glasses/bottles or plates. It took an extraordinary length of time to get a drink given the amount of people in. The 3 women in our group wanted to use the toilets but there was no toilet roll available so we're told to go in the mens (they didn't various illegal activities were going on in there) and someone had thrown up all over the bathrooms floors which was left uncleaned for the entirety of our stay in there. Very poor won't visit this branch again.

Rekorderling cider was spot on.
Staff were nice in particular the bearded chap who welcomed us on our arrival.
S. L.It was my granddaughter's birthday, a group of us were there to celebrate and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, efficient and friendly. Brought our granddaughter's cake out at just the right time and made sure everyone was comfortable including the baby in the family. Plus the food was delicious, everyone had something different and everyone was happy.

A. N.Beautiful cocktails and always great service. Can be busy around meal times (12am-1pm and 5pm-6pm) so I generally avoid these times as it can be a struggle to get a seat.
The 2 for 1 cocktails are good value too.

Their app is brilliant as you don't have to go to the bar, just pay online and you get table service fantastic! App is so easy to use and you can easily see what is available and what is out of stock, hence my rating as this way your not disappointed. I didn't like the brownie, have to try the churros next time.

V. D. P.I rarely review places. This place I had to. I googled the reviews as I was being dragged in by my hangry partner with my 6 year old son and was a bit worried. Well hence my review. I want to even out the bad. Yes as mentioned there is loud music. But that’s the type of place. It’s not a little chef. But my lad was struggling he is slightly autistic and noises get to him. The lad that served us looked for quieter spots but failed I said look it’s fine that’s the place it’s our problem not yours. I took my lad outside to walk while waiting for the food and saw it had arrived. I went in and they had turned the speaker near us off so we were really chuffed. The food was bob on. And the girl and lad that served us deserve commendation they couldn’t do enough. Honestly I lived in Manchester and went to slug and lettuce there and would not of expected what we got last night. THANK YOU 😊

L. R.So so. Club like. However, the cocktail tree is awesome. Young crowd. Very polite, efficient door staff. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the staff inside. We had reserved a table for 6 people and paid a deposit only to turn up to a table of four and the young girls answer was "when you book a table for 6, you only got a 4 seater table" ... you can imagine our confusion. Wouldn't return.

We walked into slug and lettuce on back swinegate who were taking pre bookings only. We explained our situation and they very generously let us in for a bottomless brunch. We couldn't have asked for more, the service was 5 star, the staff were so attentive and the food and drinks were lovely. Would definitely go again. Thank you!

Recently found out I’m wheat and egg intolerant, and along with being vegetarian there’s actually not much I can eat, but we mentioned it to the staff and they came back with a list of things on the menu I could eat. This was so nice since it really felt personally catered for me. The food was absolutely delicious too which really made the whole experience.

T.Need to throw a lamp at the staff to lighten up. I know 'with everything that's going on' is people's go to answer but there's no need for rudeness. A woman (red spotty face mask) half opened the door and said 'sorry guys we're fully booked' even though we had a booking. Then a guy huffed and puffed and put his head in his hands (can you believe it) before we sat down. Drinks were nice but there was an atmosphere and they needed to get over being short staffed.
M. P.I was blown away by the service I received today from a member of staff. My daughter and myself popped in for a bite to eat and we were lucky enough to be served by Johnny (I hope I've got his name right) not only did he deliver amazing service but he was amazing with my little girl playing and joking. She has been talking about him all day. When you go out with a little one finding a place to eat can be challenging but when a member of staff goes that extra mile to helps you to relax and enjoy your meal more. The food was also excellent and the childrens main, dessert and drink is really good for the price. I work in York and I always get asked places to eat and I shall be definitely recommending here.

J. A.Me and my family visited your restaurant today after trawling the streets of York and everywhere being full and unable to accommodate us- not easy with a large group 10 on a Saturday. Fortunately we were in luck at the Slug and Lettuce as there was one space for us. Vanessa served our food, checked everything was okay, fetched condiments for my mum and also exchanged my nieces meal with no questions asked after we advised she didn't like the tartare sauce that was in her sandwich. Pleasant and accommodating Vanessa demonstrated perfect customer service, which didn't go unnoticed. The food came quick we all enjoyed it too and Vanessa made sure plates were cleared. Our first time at the restaurant chain. You have definitely made an impression. A big thank you to Vanessa. Her customer service would be hard to beat!

J. D.Lovely trip to slug and lettuce tonight. Staff were very welcoming and easy to approach. Especially when we were confused regarding the type of service.
Food quality was to a high standard with both the super food salad with grilled salmon and the bacon and cheese beef burger being the best choice on the menu. The bbq sauce with the burger was incredibly tangy and moreish.
The drinks were very good with the amstell being one the best ever had. Two very satisfied customers.

H. a.Let's face it you are reading this to see if the cocktails are great hehe. Well they are! Plenty of classics like sex on the beach and others like ab fab and strawberries and cream soda (yum) so you have plenty of choices for all tastes. Best of all its 2-4-1 so grab your friends and mix and match your drinks. Food is good too and it have beautiful decor and clean toilets. The staff are lovely and the swine gate slug is better service and just a smidge quieter.

S. J.I went here on a Monday and, at the time of writing, they were doing an offer on half price food. That's everything on the menu...half price. We went for an "Ultimate Platter" (one of the sharing platters) and some calamari (came with a nice sweet chilli sauce) and chicken wings (came with Frank's wing sauce...which I love). Overall, the food was pretty good. It was nothing particularly complicated to get right and I have no experience of other items on the menu, but what we had was very nice...and fantastic value for money considering the offer. Would it be good value at full menu price? Maybe not brilliant value but I wouldn't exactly feel overly ripped off either.
Anyway...Decor. The some of the chairs were pretty filthy and they could do with getting some new ones in. So I had to mark them down for that. Otherwise, the place is pretty nice.
The service couldn't really be faulted. The waitress who served us was nice and had a good sense of humour. The food came quickly, too.
Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here on a Monday if the half price offer stays on. I would definitely be interested in trying some of the other items on the menu so I can better assess what how the value holds up at full menu price.

My friend checked when ordering her food that it would be ok for gluten free but when it arrived it wasn't. Not a great experience

We ordered drinks at the bar, a bottle of cider and a pint of Guinness.
Now I know you pay more in pubs and trendy bars for drinks, but, I could have honestly bought a crate of Guinness Draught or a crate of the cider from elsewhere and still had money left over compared to what we paid.
We found a spot by some tables where we could stand. Apart from people sat in seats, the rest of the place was empty.
I don't like to give bad reviews, and I always believe there's usually a hidden problem or issue if an employee is a bit 'off' with someone. But, from entering The Slug And Lettuce (apart from the nice lads behind the bar) I felt like we had intruded on a private party. We were spoken to by an abrupt female employee and TOLD to move from where we had been stood because 'other people' were coming.
In this instance, the really friendly bar staff have saved 'The Slug And Lettuce' from being a one star review.

S. S.Starter was good main was average. Waited a long time but the manager realised and came over and gave us free drinks. This saved it from a 1 star. Waiting time for starter was 45 minutes.
