Fantastic place to taste a typical fish and chips. We went because it is recommended to be one of the best in the UK, and it's well worth it the place. The food is delicious. One desire that I love from the dish is that is not oily as many fish and chips. Also, the ration is fair enough. Furthermore, there is not much queue to do and the service is extremely professional and quickly.

I baught half chicken and chips from here based on reviews, the chicken was unfortunately not cooked enough, I took it back and they offered me a new one if I would like to wait or a refund, I opted for a replacement, the staff where very appropriately sorry and very nice, the chips and scraps were great and the chicken was very nice, so I highly recommend then to you, we all make slip ups but how we handle them is what counts 😀

Take away only and limited parking outside but the fish and chips are so good, if there are no parking spaces outside, I will gladly park on a side street and walk back.

Downgraded from 5 to 3 Stars after visiting 2 hours after opening on Sunday 31/07/2022. This used to be my favourite Chippy in York but seems hit and miss going near opening time as I've had bad experiences with warm ups now on a few occasions, even 2 hours after opening. Chips are hard with small sharp cut chips and not very pleasant to eat and probably could break your teeth trying to eat many of them. Please do some quality inspections every so often to avoid this problem as you don't seem to have this problem at tea time when busier. I recommend you phone in your order beforehand even if 5 or 10 minutes away as it can be busy depending on what time you visit.

Everything about this chippy is amazing. The smell when you walk up to the door, the staff, the service and especially the grub. Fan favorite of the fish and chips. Plain and simply but made to perfection. Best chippy I've ever had.

First time in The blue fin last night and YOU have to go! It’s the cutest little shop with amazing food. The fish and chips is to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! Nothing at all wrong with the food, it was excellent as always, but the Covid restrictions are now becoming tiresome. I had used the App to place my order in plenty of time to then have to queue outside in the rain for over 10 minutes. When I finally got in the shop I found out that one of the fish had been missed of my order so had to wait a further 10 minutes for this to be cooked. This was somewhat disappointing as we were entertaining my wife's family and we were all ready to eat.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Normally I have cod but they didn't have any so I got haddock. I'm glad I did, it was the best haddock I have ever had. The next time they had cod and I tried that. Again it was top quality and perfectly cooked. Both times were telephone orders with us picking it up at the time arranged with no waiting. Another great touch is that it comes in individual paper bags inside another larger paper bag. This stops them sweating and going soft on the drive home. I'm now a regular there instead of at Butler's who let me down badly.

Great fish and chips. You dont get heaps of chips, which I personally don't mind, but the fish is of good quality and size. I get the haddock and it's always fresh and always tasty. The standard portion of chips is ample and of of good quality, if there were more chips I would probably eat more which isn't the best thing for me!

This is a really cracking chip shop, hard to fault them really. The fish are cooked fresh so be prepared for a few minutes wait during quiet times. But it'll taste awesome. The chip portions can be excitingly generous, you may only need one portion of chips for two people. Service is always good natured and friendly; prices are reasonable. There's a long lay-by on the opposite side of the road, so you can usually park and grab your food with no problems. Don't be too put off by long queues, the wait is rarely as long as you expect.

Visited with my wife this evening. Haddock and homemade fish cake were delicious. Chips were also of excellent quality. Portions were very generous. All for a reasonable price in this day and age. Very good quality chip shop.

Best Takeaway Chippie in Town - always perfect chips. Nearly always a queue, indication of just how good this place is. The staff are always courteous and friendly. Portions are generous and always cooked perfectly. Topped with just the right amount of salt n vinegar.

Very nice batter only had fish but ordered haddock and got cod, would recommend staff training in the difference between cod and haddock . Haddock being a better flavour fish than cod. That’s reason I I only gave it 4
