This venue looks the part it's clean, modern and a bit industrial. The centre of the venue is a bar with a great set of stairs the lead up to the rest rooms. The food itself is great I enjoyed the garlic prawns, probably more I will be longing to have them again. I then went on to have the rib eye steak rare with the buttery mash and peppercorn sauce. This was cooked as requested and was good. Sadly this venue was let down by its service, the service was exactly that just service. There was no spark and people working to make their customers feel special. The service wasn't bad though just nothing to shout about. Otherwise great venue if not a little bit pricey. Would go again though.

Visited Cut and Craft on Monday after a quick Google search for "best steak house in york" and we weren't disappointed. The food was absolutely beautiful, the flat iron steak was good perfectly. Well presented food in a lovely venue. 100% recommend a visit.

One of the best steakhouses my partner and I have been to. Modern but cosy, with great atmosphere, quick service and amazing food. Our waiter was genuinely very friendly and full of energy. Definitely added to the perfect experience. Sorry I didn't catch his name to give him a well deserved shout out. I'm not local but would definitely make a visit back to York just to go back to this restaurant. I definite recommendation!

The presentation of the place is great, the staff are friendly but my main issues are with the portion sizes. After my meal, I wasn't even half full which is disappointing for the price range. Despite this, it tasted great.

Staff was friendly from receptionist to server. Jamal was the best staff for his positive attitude and social interaction skills and looked after us well, really impressed. Food was top noch with good presentation. The 10 oz flat iron steak ( i orded) was succulent flavourful with just the right medium, sides and drinks was nice. Prices was on the high side but with the atmosphere design and service I exempt it most places rise food prices and forget the surroundings to go with it. Definitely will go again next time I make plans for york.

Came here over Christmas on a recommendation of a friend, did not disappoint. Was a anniversary meal, and we where given a nice booth and a free glass of Prosecco which was a nice touch. Food was cooked wonderfully and the waiter was brilliant. Plus the stein glasses for £10 are great! Will recommend and if ever in York again will be back!

Came to dinner with my girlfriend with high expectations and we got it. Great team and everything ran smoothly. My steak was medium not medium-rare and they took it back and I had a fresh one within 5 minutes. A complimentary drink along with it so no complaints. All in all a great night and I would visit again.

Nice venue with several vegetarian options. I had the hallomi fajitas which was good but required extra hallomi pieces. My friend enjoyed the burger (not halal). The ice cream was good for a light dessert.

Not sure if it was an unexpectedly busy night for them, but it took over 15 minutes (and a gentle reminder) for our server to even acknowledge we were sat down at the table. The host actually ended up putting our drink order in. But once we got service, it was great. The smokey old fashioned is a fantastic cocktail choice, the goat cheese and beets spread a nice appetizer. Recommend the signature flat iron steak: cooked perfectly at medium rare. I would definitely visit again and just hope the service was a touch more on point!

The Cut and Craft is stunning and very nicely decorated, and the food tastes really nice. I had a few issues though. One was that I ordered a 36oz tomahawk which cost me a whopping 50 pounds. But the steak was definitely not this size, I would have called it half the size, I have been to other steak places where I have ordered a 16oz steak that I have struggled to finish, where as I polished my plate fairly quickly and easily here. The other is that the steak is bland as it comes, I don't know if this is a choice made by the kitchen, but they put some spice on the side for you to dip the steak in, and have salt and pepper on the table, In my opinion the chef should do the seasoning, but that's just my personal opinion. Other than that I enjoyed my meal and will come again all though I won't be spending 50 pounds on a 36oz tomahawk that was more like a 16oz. Also ontop of my bill I had a 10 pound service charge? Don't remember having to pay this at other restaurants, maybe I'm wrong but when I'm spending over 90 pound on food I don't also want to be paying a service charge equivalent to the price of a flat iron steak.

Lovely, lovely food. We had a table booked for five thirty, we had finished shopping earlier than thought and the weather was terrible. We asked to eat earlier and they were really nice and said it was ok even though they were busy. I would recommend booking a table in advance.

Amazing food with amazing service. Not only do they have blue moon on tap, they also do steins of whatever you want!! We each had the 10oz flat iron steak which just melted in your mouth. We order four sides to share, the mac and cheese, smashed garlic new Potato's, onion rings and honey roasted veg. I would probably reccomend about this serving split for two, although my husband did eat the majority of it - only because I didn't get the chance! We were stuffed with that and the starter so didn't have any room for dessert. But everything looked really tasty.

This was a fantastic find on our last trip to York. The food was tremendous, the service was prompt, staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant is kind of tucked back a little bit from the street, so I hadn't discovered it in previous trips. The area outside of the restaurant is very vibrant as well. The ambiance inside the restaurant is also excellent and everything is tastefully decorated. Facilities are very clean and well kept. We came back for dinner on the second night of our last trip because everything was so well done. Can't wait to go back to York when we can travel again and this establishment will be at the top of our list.

Love, love, love this place. It's rare to find a venue that has it all, but Cut & Craft really does. Since finding this hidden gem, it's now become my go to spot for all occasions, I love introducing friends and family to it too. The steak and oysters are always my go to order. If I've ever had an issue, staff have always been so proficient at handling them. Service is great, it's priced incredibly well for the quality they put out. It's a must visit!

Awesome steak and nice restaurant and atmosphere. Staff were helpful even when it was busy. We would prefer that sides were included in the prices as paying £18-22 for a steak and then another £4.25+ for fries made it seem a more expensive. If it was, say £25+ for a steak and a choice of side it would mask that you're being charged £4+ for chips (and not the hugest portion even if they are tasty). Overall good but the sides left something to be desired given the price of them.

Outstanding all round. Our main server was an efficient and experienced male, who was attentive and intuitive. The meal was excellent. My partner and I both ordered steaks, and these were fantastic. My partner ordered this “blue” and as this was slightly overcooked, we alerted the server and he swiftly rectified this. We pushed the boat out and ordered a range of sides (getting inspiration from other diners and their food choices!) and we were impressed with the generous portion size of each of these. We both had a cocktail and these were a generous serving. If I could have anything added to the menu: it would be Coke Zero and a bearnaise sauce which is delicious with steak. The decor was lush and atmospheric, with some great tunes set to the ideal volume; the music never distracted from our meal or conversation. Speedy and friendly service. Comfortable surrounds. Great lighting. Amazing food and generous portions. We will be back! :)

This venue is everything you could wish for in a restaurant. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure you had a great time, the atmosphere was brilliant and the food was incredible. Words can't describe how tasty and tender the flat iron steak was and it was by far the best steak I'd ever had. It was my wife's birthday and, again, they went well out of their way to make her day special. The location is also perfect and they cater to vegans/allergies. I wish I could give this place 6/5, I can absolutely guarantee that anyone would love this place!

Visited on Monday night and was advised there was an hour wait which turned out to be more like 20 minutes. The restaurant is really nice and had a lovely atmosphere. I had the £10 steak and was really impressed with it for the price, my partner had the tomahawk and enjoyed it but wasn't bowled over. I let the waitress know I didn't enjoy the mac and cheese and she did apologise but didn't ask me any further questions about it which I would have expected.

The restaurant has a good ambience and divided the family, bar seating. Comfortable seating with a good space. The staff were friendly except one guy who was not good at communication and forgets the order🤦🏻. But otherwise everyone else was good. Quick stop off at the cut & craft during our stay in York. I went for the famous litre steins of beer as per my want. Me and the wife also tried some nibbles. Nice venue and decor. Our waiter was great also, sorry sir we didn’t catch your name. But upon leaving he asked us what are we up too, to which we replied we were celebrating our anniversary. He said we couldn’t celebrate without fizz and brought us two glasses of Prosecco. Just going that extra mile makes such a massive difference. Next time we are in York we’ll call in again. Only popped in for a drink and to try the chicken wings. Really lovely staff. Friendly and quick service. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The interior is beautifully done. My husband had a cocktail which was lovely and I had an orange juice. The wings came out quickly and were super yummy. We had the teriyaki and sesame seed version. The meat fell off the bone and the coating was another level. After looking at all the menu it would be great to revisit and have a full meal.

Been in York for a few days and had eaten out every day, chain and local. Decided on our last day to try The Cut & Craft. The restaurant looks smart and to be fair the food was good too, we both had the lamb burger at £15 each. As mentioned on other reviews we felt the service to be good but not amazing especially as they automatically add 10% to the bill as an optional service charge. Service should be good/great as a basic, anything over and above should warrant a tip, something we tend to do anyway. I just find it annoying that it's going to be added regardless. We were offered water for the table along with our drinks, still or sparkling. I asked for still as we didn't want to get charged extra. When it came it was Harrogate Spring water in a glass bottle, maybe I should have specified tap water? When the bill came we'd been charged over £4 for the water and over £4 for the service. We deliberately hadn't opened the water and asked for it to come off the bill which they did without question. Let's be upfront about what you're going to be charged for.

I love this restaurant it is trendy and has a great atmosphere. The food and wine is delicious and reasonably priced. I enjoyed fresh oysters followed by flat iron steak with truffle chips and peppercorn sauce which was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The pudding was the highlight for me though. The sticky toffee with beer and toffee sauce Is a revelation and the waiter bosco very kindly brought extra sauce for us so great service too 🙂

It so easy to book on the website as we were keen to try cut and craft after walking home from work everyday and seeing it. We told them it was our anniversary and they gave a complimentary glass of Prosecco which really made us feel special. The food came out quick and was spectacular. The flat iron steak was melt in the mouth and the peppercorn sauce really was the cherry on top. We shared sides because we couldn’t manage a lot each. We also couldn’t fit a dessert but we did have a liquor coffee which again were amazing. The service was amazing from the host to the waitresses and the food runners everyone was so polite and in good spirits, was so lovely to see after the pandemic has really hit the hospitality industry. We would come back here in a heartbeat and I think it might be our new anniversary spot! Thank you for a lovely experience!

Expensive to be fair but the portions are large. I wanted a steak but you have to add chips and salad on as extras which cost about a fiver each on top. The burgers are tasty but too big to bite. Our server was lovely though so deserved the tip.

Beautiful steakhouse in the heart of York. Very cosy and English restaurant with the most efficient service I have ever seen in a steak restaurant. Our waitress was so helpful and friendly, gave fantastic side dish recommendations and we ordered the right amount of food for the 2 of us. I tried the signature flat iron steak which was a lot more generous portion than London's flat iron steak chain. The panko onion rings were so good and crispy. The seasoning for the steak and peppercorn sauce was really good. Everything tasted amazing - the only thing I would say is that my steak was leaning more on the medium side rather than medium rare but the cut still tasted really good. My partner enjoyed his sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Would visit again when in York.

Charged me £4.50 for a bottle of water that goes flat quickly - absurd. It makes me wonder if the bottles of water were actually new, or they just refilled them and proceeded to charge us £9 for two bottles. The staff was helpful and food nice but I dont think I will be coming bringing more people again. I would much rather pay £4 more for the steak than know knowing that less than 3 bottles of pre-opened water equal a steak.

After the recommendation of my best colleague, i took the speciality of the house and the Mac and cheese. My god the speed of how you are serve and the hospitality of the staff is paramount. Amazing! I was at the York Cut & Craft next to Brown's in the city centre. The food was amazing, we had the chicken and avocado burger and chicken wings in the house/cajun sause with the truffle and parmesan fries 👌 A particularly surprising highlight was the incredibly yummy sauce that came with the burger. Portion sizes were generous, I was definitely full but tried to eat more because it just tastes so good!! Price was fair, lunch for 2 with 2 cokes was £35 ish (that includes staff tip). Also, the food came quicker than I think I have ever experienced outside a fast food restaurant! Very nice surprise, especially considering the quality of the food was so good too. Probably less insightful as you can see their social media page, but thought I'd just say the decor and vibe is very nice, classy leathers and shiny brass, modern smart sort of thing. Kind of wish we'd gone in the evening instead of lunch as they had lots of lovely lights that I think would probably create a really deluxe-type dining experience but it was still nice at lunchtime. Staff were all very nice too. Great experience, it might be my new favourite place. Will definitely be back 👍

Overall, underwhelming. I will start by saying the sides were delicious. 3 of us at the table had originally ordered the same sides for our steaks and our server suggested we choose some alternate options and share. Grateful for this suggestion. Unfortunately that's about all that was good. The hostess was very matter of fact and not at all warm or welcoming. I don't think she even looked up or smiled at us. We felt super rushed by our server from the moment we sat down, to the moment we left. He never highlighted any specials and was at our table to take orders within 2 minutes of us sitting down. I appreciate that the restaurant is busy and they need to turn the tables over however we were also not offered the opportunity to stay at the bar for drinks, so we went elsewhere. Two of our party ordered the 16oz T-bone that was £34. Unfortunately the quality and thickness of the meat was disappointing. A better cut could be purchased from any Morrison's, let alone a butcher. My husband ordered med-rare however it was cold and barely rare so it was sent back. In a confusing situation, the same steak was back on the table within about 2 minutes and then a 2nd (presumably fresh) steak was brought out, and our server literarily pushed the server carrying it away from our table to avert an awkward situation. So I sincerely hope that the steak my husband was given had been back on the grill and not a quick fix via the microwave. The bill was just over £200 for 4 of us, with mains, sides & 1 drink each which was extortion, especially given the quality we were served. The door/security man was lovely on both entry & exit. He recommended a couple of different bars for us to have drinks at & also took a great photo for us. We wouldn't be back nor would we recommend it to others.

Nice steakhouse in the middle of York. The venue is decorated in a lively, modern style, with a really good bar selection and impeccable service. Likewise, food was really well cooked and served, at a very reasonable price per quality rate. In the photos I have attached the starter, mussels served in white wine sauce (which although were served as a portion for one person the quantity was enough for two) and main dishes, full rack of baby back pork ribs and 10oz beff sirloin, both with sides of chips, but also available with a great selection of other sides as well.

A nice vibe in the restaurant. Good oysters and a great side of green beans, shallots. The flat iron steak came pre sliced and had sinew running through making it pretty difficult to eat but still tasty. It was also unfortunately more well done than medium rare. The drinks selection was a disappointment with just one from Brew York, some cut & craft IPA that was a bit bland and the rest being generic, peroni etc. Waiter was a really friendly guy and really prompt with drinks etc. They also added a 10% service charge which we didn't pay. I know they'll probably say it's voluntary, but it's just annoying. Don't do it.

Absolutely sensational. We had a fish finger buttie and a ploughman's sandwich both were superb and plentiful. Service was first class and all staff were on it. The place has a New York vibe about it but with old York charm. Will definitely be returning. Returned again today very nice although I think I received the wrong chip's but no great hassle. Very quiet though I work in the hospitality industry and hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Unfortunately though, the most recent occasion (about a month or so ago) was really not as good, maybe it was an off night, but the food just wasn't as nice, and the music... Oh my Jesus.. it finally got to us... I like to think of myself as young being in my late 20's, and it could be old age creeping in, but the drum&bass/EDM blaring out the place sounded like some kinda ketamine rave.. or a footlocker.. either way.. it was loud and bolshy enough to just give off a bit of a tacky, get in & get out as quick as possible vibe. Don't think well be popping back until maybe we walk past and hear the "bangin' tunes bro" phase is over. Its enough to drive you out quicker than sit and enjoy your food. All in all though, maybe I'm just not hip enough, and the staff in all fairness are great when we have visited, and I really appreciate this!

Obviously it’s the only real steakhouse in York. It’s already totally crowded at 2 p.m. Once you got in you have to wait up to 45 to 60 minutes. Couples my have to wait a bit less. What a great restaurant! We were seated promptly and had fantastic service from Hattie. They had my favorite Rekorderlig strawberry cider on tap and my husband had a 54 Degrees beer that he enjoyed. My Cut and Craft salad had an unusual mix of ingredients but it all worked incredibly well. The crispy tortilla was lovely alongside it. My husband had the flank steak special with fries, and said it was quite good. All in all, a fantastic place. Plus, it was great to find and support an independent, local business.

Had booked a table for 8pm for 2 people after requesting online for 7.30pm, which was totally fine as I'm familiar with catering myself. We had arrived 5 minutes in advance with a queue out the door of other groups that have booked for 8pm too. We were all told our tables would be a while, my partner and I both agreed that it wasn't in a very friendly manner. After about 15 minutes of standing outside we were offered to sit at the bar tables just in from the front door (which I noticed hadn't been wiped after the previous couple had moved on from that table, which is usually fine, i would just have preferred hygiene to be high due the current climate). We were shown to a table at about 8.35pm which we were rather irritated at being so late. But after this our service was amazing! Our waitress was a star and I can't praise her enough, as well as the food. The meal definitely made up for the wait. The bar was out of a few drinks (which happens everywhere, its totally fine) including the one that I was wanting to order but the waitress said straight away that it was out, which was very professional and I just chose another one. Great service once seated.

Over in York for the first time for the snooker. So as usual I googled places to eat. I liked the look of this place. And a claim to amazing steak and beers, how could I not try it. They don’t take reservations so when we arrived they handed us a card with a number and told us they would come find us at the bar within an hour. So we had a couple of gins, the Gino craft was very refreshing. And within 30 mins our table was ready. I got the siracha wings, that had a nice bite and they were flame grilled. The fresh jalapeños were a nice touch. And I got the rib eye on the bone from the specials. And as you can see from the photos, only the bone was left. We got chips, onion rings and creamed spinach for our sides. To be honest the sides are good to share if your getting a steak. We didn’t get dessert cause we were stuffed but it was well worth it. If we come back to York. Here will be a must stop off.

We had our wedding anniversary here recently and it was a spectacular evening. The staff were lovely and the food was really good. They have a great online menu that you can look at prior to your visit including a decent allergens list which was really helpful. My wife had the steak while I had the classic burger. Both were cooked perfectly, decent sized and really filling. We had dessert as well, very tasty and went down a treat. The atmosphere was good and we would highly recommend a visit. Worth booking in advance though as it can be quite popular (or at least it was the evening we visited).

Asked for a drinks order within what felt like 2 minutes of getting to the table and food order only a few minutes later. So I don't blame the restaurant as they gave me exactly what I asked for. Going to put this one down to experience. My wife's steak was fantastic and was half the price. So to sum up. Very nice venue with fabulous staff. Slightly over priced as nothing comes with your steak, sauces fries and other sides are all extra. Would I recommend, yes. Would I go again, No. There are many other fine restaurants in York to try and will be trying somewhere else next time.

A good looking venue well layed out. The food is good but mine was far from perfect. I had their signature steak (flat iron), signature fries (skin on) and tenderstem broccoli with almonds. The steak was cooked medium, despite me ordering medium rare, needed more seasoning and was not hot. The fries were very hot and over salted. The broccoli was overcooked. Having said all this, I still enjoyed it, it's just that paying £26.50 for one course and one orange juice, I would expect it to be perfect. It wasn't. If friends wanted to go there I'd be happy to join them, but if I were dining on my own again I would probably go somewhere better.

I visited here with my girlfriend, attracted by the low prices and great looking interior. Our server was Meg and she (along with the rest of the waiting staff) was brilliant! She stopped and had a chat to answer some of the questions I had whenever I spoke up. The food was great, we had the calamari and the chorizo prawns to start. The prawns tasted great and the calamari was nice and soft (not too soft, but not a ball of rubber either). The chillies that came with the calamari were interesting, not really spicy at all but very refreshing For a main I had the on-the-bone ribeye done medium rare (pictured), it came out a bit rarer than med rare but thats what I prefer anyway (I usually don't want to explain I want it on the rare side of med rare). It was lovely and flavourful and the addition of a pile of salt/chilli/oregano to add if I wanted really added to it. My girlfriend had the veggie burger and, even though I don't normally go for such things, I'll admit it was pretty nice with evenly balanced flavours and a good mix of textures in the bite. The portion sizes were great, especially for the low price and the chips were really nice. For a dessert I had the sticky toffee and ale pudding, which tasted divine! There is a great selection of drinks, everything from draught ales to gin cocktails, so something for everyone. Again I'd like to point out the high quality of service from our waitress Meg and the other staff and the overall comfortable atmosphere of a venue which has clearly found its feet very quickly. Definitely somewhere to try!

We first went to Cut and Craft back in 2018 and really enjoyed their £10 flat iron steak. We were eager to return and finally did in Sept 2021. We all had the flatiron steak again, but despite asking for it rare (the rarest they will serve it is medium rare) mine was definitely more medium to well cooked and quite tough. The peppercorn sauce was good, but blue cheese sauce didn't taste like blue cheese at all. Overall it was fine but I wouldn't rush back as the steaks weren't as good as we remembered.

FANTASTIC! Me and my partner came here on valentines weekend. Staff were friendly and polite without hovering and harassing us. We were served by Katy who was fab and made sure we were well cared for. We drank 'Paradise in Yorkshire' cocktails which were amazing. For starters we had the parmesan and Truffle mushrooms and the pork belly. The mushrooms were brilliant and would definitely be my first choice should I return. I was not particularly impressed by the pork belly so I wouldn't recommend this dish. For mains we had a sirloin steak with Sweet potato wedges and Blue cheese sauce and I had the Ribeye with truffle and parmesan fries and peppercorn sauce. Again both of these meals were spectacular and really lived up to the ambiance and decor the restaurant boasts. If you are looking for a high-mid range restaurant in York look no further. We certainly can't wait to return,

We booked a table for four, we all had the moules which were great, two of us ordered the steak, mine was tasteless and I mentioned this but got no reaction. We ordered two bottles of wine, the bill was over £140 plus optional 10% service charge and a member of staff came over to tell us we had another 15 minutes before we had to vacate the table. The waitress leaned across us to distribute cutlery etc. Apart from the moules it was a poor and expensive experience, certainly not to be repeated, voting with my pocket on this one.

Me and my partner went on Friday 4th Feb as a little treat and wasn’t left disappointed. Nice selection of food on the main menu but I opted for a season special gold covered steak. I asked for it rare but the waitress said the chef can only do it medium rare but will try to get it as rare as possible, which I didn’t mind at all, if that’s how the chef recommends it then who am I to object. When I arrived it was nothing less than amazing, it was just melt in the mouth, couldn’t fault it. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5* is simply because you don’t receive a side with the a steak on the main menu, you have to order it separately. But my gold steak however did come with a side (You’d hope so when paying £35 for it). But overall a great experience and will definitely be returning in future!

Took my boy here for a special treat the other day, straight in with no reservation, drinks came fast and then time to go through the menu.if you're a meat eater you're in for a treat, everything from ribs to steak and chicken. we chose ribs and a burger, after a bit of a chat about the weather, talk of Fortnite and the impending new season and general chit chat about the cool decor inside the cut and craft and our food arrived. The ribs were ace and so was the burger which appeared to be the size of the boy's head! I sat there and watched him devour the lot! He was stuffed and we decided that pudding was not an option, however, he saw the choc fudge brownie and ice cream and he was off. Please may I have that! A few minutes later it arrived and was gone in a flash. Great food, great ambiance, attentive staff, especially the lady running the show and an all round great experience, we shall return!

First ever visit to the Cut and Craft. Stumbled upon it by chance ,and were enticed in ,by a very varied menu. We were seated straight away and soon seen to by very attentive waitresses. It was midday and we were ready for a light snack two of the party shared a grilled chicken sandwich one had a fish butty and my wife had a steak sandwich. I settled for the Carsar salad with grilled chicken. We didn't have to wait long for the food and when it arrived it was plentiful and well presented. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed all they had, speaking personally my salad was lovely ,fresh and flavoursome. It will certainly go down as one of our go to places next time we visit York. Can certainly recommend!

So we had premium costing drinks n olives etc - good chat, soaked up the lovely environment, enjoyed our meal n had time to let it settle b4 our plates were cleared - by which point - we actually wanted desserts - a tempting menu - and a rarity for us to want to have them - but couldnae have had them because our time was up on the table. This alone is what's taken it from 4 and a half stars to 3... The other half star being neglected is because of either: A) the water glasses are too small - B) they dinnae leave a jug of water on the table C) they dinnae notice when one of the group is dry 🤭

The onion rings were also super crunchy and tasty as well. While the food was just a little over fairly priced, it wasn't great. It was late, cold and lacked flavour. The steak wasn't brilliant for the price and tasted under sessoned which was a real shame. The bread and olives we had to start tasted really odd. I liked the creativity of the bread but it didn't work as a flavour combination. Our drinks were flat too. However, the waiting staff were great and really welcoming. Particularly ours she was delightful but it was clear there were problems with the kitchen and the waiting staff communicating. Shame about the food.

We were here on Father's Day and it was quite busy. Food was excellent, and the free pint of Peroni for the dads was a nice touch (if you like lager, it would have been nice to be able to choose a different draft beer instead). The drinks seemed unnecessarily expensive. Fillet steak was very good, if a little on the small side for the price. Chips were amazing, as was the sauce. Starters were very tasty too, I had the crispy pork belly which was outstanding. Service however was not great. There was a gap of over an hour between our starters and main course, and in the end we had to ask where our food was, shortly after which it arrived. Might be because it was quite busy, but it would have been better for them to let us know they were behind. They gave the dads an envelope with a £10 off voucher for next time which was a nice touch. Would probably visit again as the food is great and you can take your little ones.

I don't think there's much they can do about it due to covid they have their doors open but just a small issue really, once you have food in front of you you can smell this instead as well :)!

The atmosphere gave the same calm and relaxing feeling it always does and the staff were very friendly providing an excellent service as normal. The staff appeared to be well briefed and upheld strict cleaning in light of covid allowing me to feel comfortable throughout my visit. They have a great selection of drinks available which are always served as they should be. The food was absolutely outstanding as always. It is clear that the meat purchased is of top quality and always cooked to perfection creating an unbelievable dining experience. Overall this has become my favourite place to eat in York and it always leaves me dying to go back again!

While my husband helped and supported the other table the staff gathered to look after them but also the other tables next to them. We have a toddler and staff ensured she was OK, not frightened and distracted her while also moving us to another part of the restaurant so emergency services had clear access. This was done in a calm and quiet manner without other customers being raised to the issue. I can't recommend the staff enough.

Out on an evening during week, a Thursday night. Had the £10.00 steak garnished with rocket lettuce, nice pint of lager, wished Id ordered some coleslaw to complement the steak, but had fish and chips in afternoon so was not too hungry. Superb surroundings classy place highly recommend.

Quite possibly one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! Enjoyed a 10oz flat iron steak with skin-on fries and a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. Service excellent and a wide range of drinks options available. Been twice now and both times have been able to walk in without a table reservation. I have no hesitations about recommending this restaurant and will be returning next time I am in York myself.

There is no such thing as a bad meal at The Cut & Craft. Steak is Amazing, Cocktails are fab and so unique, unlike many other places. Staff are Friendly, Chatty, and Efficient, even on hectic nights they will never make you feel like an inconvenience or anything less than a main priority. Will continue to come here every time i'm up in York from Norfolk. Everything is done properly, even the little details. I have no hesitation in saying that it would be up there with one of the best Restaurants in the UK, the owners and everyone involved the the establishment and growth of this business should be extremely proud. Amazing steak!!!!!! Such a nice restaurant, good for daytime and evening! However there isn’t a lot of room for big groups and you can’t book before hand as it is first come first serve. We normally go to tomahawk or Miller and carter, and this steak house did not disappoint. I loved the flat iron steak and it was an amazing price! However we were sat next to the most obnoxious group of young lads who were extremely rude to the waiters which made us leave earlier than usual as we would of had more drinks. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered but the tables are very close together so kindah put a downer to a nice meal, however I would definitely go back every time I go to york now!

Wanted to support a local independent restaurant so chose Cut and Craft. It was excellent! We had good drinks, the flat iron steak and a spicy avocado and chicken burger and both were delicious - well prepared and carefully seasoned. If you are a haggis lollipop, chicken liver parfait type of foodie this would not be the place for you, but if a satisfyingly tasty meal is your pleasure, give Cut and Craft a try soon!

I don't have enough stars to give this place. Everything was cooked to utter perfection and was like nothing I had ever tasted before. All the food was very fresh and served very quickly for it being so high quality. The servers are incredibly friendly and the whole establishment has a warm cosy vibe. The prices are very reasonable for what you receive despite being on the higher side. The drinks are also impeccable and the descriptions do not do them justice. If you are looking for some great food, a warm casual environment and don't mind splashing a little more cash, the Cut & Craft is perfect. I would give 100 stars if I could.

Firstly the flat iron steak was amazing, so good that as a York resident, who rarely goes into the city, this i can tell will be a regular haunt. I could not see the specials board from where i was seated, so it would have been nice to be told these... The service was great to get food / drinks, i only have two slightly negative points which were, it took ages to get my table cleared / the bill (started walking out to get the bill) and last point is that the peppercorn sauce was far too creamy rather then peppercorn (no hint of spice, it was like they used white peppercorns, which they did not) for my personal taste. I have given this place 5 stars as the quality of the meat was amazing.... I would say it was better than my Argentinian / Uruguayan steak's that i have had on my travels in South America...... This place is a great asset to York, cannot wait to go back - Hopefully next week!
