Reviews of The Highbury Nursing Home

My mom is a resident at Highbury nursing home and unfortunately had to go to hospital due to chest pains. The staffs quick response to mom not being well was so good. She has made a good recovery and while in the hospital nursing staff and the opal team commented on how well mom was in her physical appearance from her hair weight and skin to her overall well being.
The staff and management at the Highbury are the reason I can sleep at night and have made the very difficult decision to put mom in a nursing home more bearable..

Highbury Nursing Home is a great place. My mum has resided here for over three years now and the love, care and attention that all the staff give her and the other residents is fantastic. There are always plenty of staff on duty so they have time to care for mums personal needs as well as sit with her and chat. The entertainment staff are also great and are always doing things with the residents. The meals are great. I know this because I am there regularly when it is dinner or tea time. The home is clean and the staff are very approachable. The new manager clearly cares about the residents and is happy to chat about my mum.

My role as compliance lead at Highbury is significant and enables me access to all areas of the home working with all departments, and I can say with all my heart that the home has one of the most fantastic atmospheres, the staff and residents are healthy and well cared for. Every member of staff works really hard and their efforts are reflected in happy and content residents. The management greatly appreciates every single member of staff for the commitment and passion they apply to every single resident under their care.

My mum has been at Highbury Nursing home for more than 8 years. From the first day until current time I have been more than happy with the care my mum receives. She is treated with the utmost respect by all staff, from the manager, nurses, caters, kitchen and cleaning staff. I visit regularly, 3 or 4 times a week and I am reassured that my mum is in safe, caring hands with people that know her as a person beyond what they can see. Wendy is always available to talk to if needed as are other members of staff. I would not keep my mum in a home that was not good.

I cannot believe the negative comments on here about Highbury nursing home. They are nasty and vindictive and aimed at one person mostly not the home itself. My mom a has been there for about 4yrs and I cannot praise the management and staff enough. The care given by the staff is amazing. My mom has thrived from the first day she arrived there. The carers are kind and helpful as are the activity staff. If there's a problem, it's dealt with straight away. The manager has always been very approachable and I know that the new manager is all about the residents and their needs always come first.
These latest reviews are very recent and are not a true reflection of Highbury. I would definitely recommend this home

I have been part of the care team here for four and a half years and can honestly say that it is my pleasure to work here. All the staff come together to help each other out and we always have the residents best interest at heart in everything we do. It's a safe comfortable environment where the residents truly feel 'at home'. Our attitude is that this is not our work place it it the residents home.

I find it unbelievable that anyone can post a negative review of this place or staff as our experience has been nothing but positive .
Due to failing health my 95 year old mother had to leave her home and we moved her into Highbury
I cannot praise the staff highly enough . They have gone to enormous lengths to understand my mothers very specific needs and to ensure she is both happy and healthy . Special mention should be made of Wendy the manager, who has strived to ensure my mother is treated with dignity and ends her days as comfortably as possible .
What really impressed us is the high ratio of staff to residents . All of my family would highly recommend this home .

I am the lead activities organiser at Highbury Nusing Home and have been employed here for nearly 4 years. It is my pleasure to work here, we have an amazing team from the nurses and care staff right through to the management. We offer Person Centered Care and the residents are always at the heart of what we do. The activities team provide a well planned and thoughtful program of activities to suit all the residents, from outings to the local park, pub and shopping trips to sing-a-longs and bingo. We recently introduced the living egg program and hatched our own chicks. The residents are actively engaged and very well cared for by all members of our team. We consider ourselves as one big family and all pull together to ensure the happiness of the residents at all times.

I have worked at Highbury Nursing Home for over 10 years, I am the Administrator and you will find me tucked away in the front office. i use the term 'work' loosely as it is my second home and my family live within it. Every member of staff play's a key part in the functioning of the home, we are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that all fit together. The 'residents' all have there own personalities and knowing that we can give them comfort and security in the latter stages of their lives gives me a happy feeling inside. We build a strong bond with their families and it has been extremely hard this year not having the contact whilst we've been in lock down. So i have no hesitation in saying how much i love being in a home that is filled with people i care for and that care for me and that I am part of the Highbury family.

My Nan was only here for a short time but I’m glad she lived her final months in such a caring and person centered environment. The manager and the staff showed compassion, patience and understanding towards my Nan and us when we visited. They even made sure my dog felt welcome too.

I have nothing but the upmost respect for the manager of this nursing home and her team of carers. They do an amazing job caring for their residents welfare and wellbeing. The previous 1* reviews must have been put on here by someone/ persons with a grudge very obvious as all 2 days old or 2weeks old PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE BY THESE REVIEWS
