A really lovely campsite. So peaceful. Friendly community. Ducks, Chickens, Guinea Fowl all wandering freely. Beautiful view of the Abbey. Hot showers and laundry facilities. Within 5 mins drive of shopping centre.

this place is just superb, so well thought out and so much care put into it;
i love the toilet/shower block, clean but not smelling of chemicals, and there are warm showers and plenty of loos, i never had to wait to use them;
in an incredible location, with great facilities and everything you need on your doorstep;
highly recommend the park and ride to get into durham;
we will likely be returning in our campervan or tent sometime soon!

Very tranquil place,with history & beautiful scenery to chill out to on a lovely day.. loads of ducks to see & many other breeds of birds to admire eg heron & other wading birds,while standing on a strong walk bridge over the river right next to the priory.. only a parking fee to pay & donations.. So if u want a couple of hours of peace & quiet,nature all around u,a slow walk & explore the ruins,bit of imagination on how it must've looked when it was in use & some history, this is the place for u.

Stunning grounds. Well kept place. Lovely & peaceful in the gated off village part.

Finchale abbey is a great place to visit, Historic ruins that where in their day were where the Prince bishops spent time, there is a car park and small shop, but Finchale abbey retirement village is not part of the abbey , it's a development inside the grounds . The photos for this are misleading as they are of finchale priory and not the retirement village .
