Known as Suffolk court this building is now the North West Leeds recovery centre. Patients from hospital who are well enough to leave hospital but not well enough to go home may be transferred here to be looked after .
On approach by car you can either park in the silver lane surgery car park and walk up the footpath past the Lloyds pharmacy and the surgery itself to reach the front door . Or there is a small car park outside the entrance which is accessible from the road Suffolk court . This road is next to silver lane car park. When you go up this road DO NOT drive straight up !! Instead veer off to the left past the chemist and you will see the two car parks . I used the left hand one because it has two disabled bays . When I went up towards the door I noticed there were a few parking spaces outside the recovery centre but I disabled ones were full . The large parking bay by the front door is off limits to vehicles.
The first thing I noticed is that this building is very 60/70s with little change . No automatic doors for a start either to get in or inside the building itself . All doors and corridors were wheelchair accessible . The decor is a bit jaded and dated but the place is clean . There is an office on You left as you go through the second door. The floors throughout are carpeted and quiet . When we were told where we needed to go we were escorted along the corridors to the lift as we had to go upstairs . Again the lift itself fits in with the decor of the building . It was barely large enough to take my wheelchair . I had to travel on my own as no one else would fit , and I couldn’t turn my chair around . The patients rooms are small but cozy along with their own bathroom .( not w/chair friendly) and have alarms as standard in case staff were needed. I did see quite a number of very cheerful staff including cleaning ladies.
On my way out I passed the dining room . This room was like a breath of fresh air . It has been modernised and updated with lighting and furniture.

Very efficient care home. All the staff are very attentive and kind. Food was excellent. Not sure where any negative post originate from. My relative is reluctant to leave. 5 stars awarded

Suffolk Court deserves close to 4 stars but not quite close enough. The staff are very friendly and polite, I'm not quite so sure about their proficiency though. Like most care homes they are trying to do a good job for deserving clients with limited resources. Disabled parking is less than adequate and wheelchair access is slightly tight in places.
