Torkington House was a godsend for me and my sister. They really helped us out a lot with our father, who was at their day care option they have or had. All the staff there were amazing, and helped me and sister out with any issues that we had, always kept us informed of dad, if he was ever acting up etc etc. They always had solutions, which was incredibly reassuring for us. They are a wonderful, warm, care home with an amazing team. Margaret, you must be proud of them!

My mother spent over 11 years at the excellent Torkington House. During that time I visited twice each week, so I feel well placed to comment on our experiences. Torkington House is led by Margaret - a simply wonderful manager and supported by a team of caring and hard working staff. What is heart warming about the home is that it does not feel like an institution and the positive ways in which all staff engage with residents. I frequently saw the cleaners, cooks, laundry and maintenance staff taking time to speak with my mother. The activity worker and the care team were great - showing kindness and finding time and ways to include my mother long after her abilities to join in and be in the communal areas had passed. I always felt and trusted that my mother was well looked after and cared for; the staff frequently going the extra mile to support the family and accommodate our needs. The staff responded positively to any questions or concerns we had, which were always resolved. I feel grateful that my mother was looked after by the Torkington team and would have no reservation in recommending Torkington House to others.

I was truly horrified and disgusted to see a comment which is so unfair and unjustified. My relatives lived at Torkington House over 9 years, i was immensely proud to have had such excellent care provided to my relative. I visited Torkington House regularly and most my visits were unannounced. Margaret and her team were so welcoming , homely and very professional. and there has never been a reason for me to complain during these 9 years. I would certainly recommend Torkington House to anybody looking for a good care home.

Torkington House is a truly exceptional care home. From the moment you step in through the doors of the home you are greeted with warmth and compassion. The care home's manager, Margaret, embodies all the qualities of a great and inspiring manager and leads her staff by example.

I was saddened to read the one negative comment about Torkington House and its staff. Frankly, I was also a bit mystified? I know how good it is from my personal experience of the superb, thoughtful and loving care staff showed towards my late mother, Vera Batchelor in the last years of her life. I might add, this was staff at ALL levels, from the individual, dedicated carers who very sensitively supported my mother in her day to day routines, right up to and including the excellent Margaret Siriwardena for whom I have the highest regard. The combination of compassion and professionalism was such that my mother was happy and comfortable - which was a great relief to me. I was made welcome on my more or less daily visits, often to share lunch or supper with my mother. I soon came to think of Torkington House as a model of everything an excellent Care Home should be. My high opinion was such that, after my mother had died peacefully, I maintained my links with Torkington House and its staff from time to time, not least during these recent, trying times. I have little doubt everyone will have risen to the challenge. I would recommend Torkington to friends - actually, I already have.
