My mother has Dementia she has been at Ashby House since the end of April after a nasty fall and a hip operation. She has been slow to recover from the operation but is at last making a slow but good recovery. The care that she is receiving from all members of staff at Ashby is excellent. The communication from the Manager downwards is first class, all medical issues have been followed up immediately and the results communicated to us as a family. This has alleviated stress knowing that she is receiving top notch care. There is a very relaxed and happy feeling within the home that also relieves any anxiety one might feel.

Very good care home, with caring people who know how to support people they care for. My relative described Ashby House as home, where people care for others with respect, dignity and who are always there when you need them.

Visited the home recently and found everyone very welcoming and caring . All staff I spoke to were really supportive and kind. My relative who lives at Ashby House is happy and it's all that matters to me. Thank you team Ashby House.

I contacted Ashby House when I had to look at a permanent nursing care place for my Dad. He had a recuperation place in another home but they were not been able to offer a permanent place at the time. From speaking to the receptionist initially, then the Deputy Manager Francesca and Wojciech the General Manager, they all showed genuine interest in my plight, they listened to me with care and compassion, took a lot of detail, offered advice and support and gave me so much of their time, for which I was so grateful for at an very uncertain and stressful time this is all new territory to me. Wojciech showed me the beautuful home on a virtual visit, the lovely rooms that were available and even arranged another virtual visit to look at a room that was being decorated, once it was finished. I was kept informed of any information regarding the place. I chose Ashby House as they were so caring and hoped my Dad would move, sadly as these things take time, a permanent place became available where he was already, so we didn't then need the place at Ashby House, however I know that if my Dad had moved he would have had the very best of care. My 86 year old Mum even said if she needed to go into a home that's where she would like to go.I cannot thank Wojciech and Ashby House enough for their help and support during this time.

My mother-in-law was placed at Ashby House, Eaglestone this year (2018) for palliative care. The home is light, fresh and airy. My mother-in-law had a lovely light room with a view of the private gardens which was lovely for her to look out on during the last few weeks of her life. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and cared for her in a very friendly and professional manner. They were also very kind to me as I spent a lot of time there bringing me tea and food when I stayed late. Nothing was a problem for them and they cared for both me and my mother-in-law. When it came to the end, the carers could not have been more soothing and helpful. This is not only a calming place for palliative care, but a home for many residents who were very happy with the friendly surroundings. I highly recommend this home which was a great help to me during a very emotional time.

My dad went to live permanently at Ashby House Care home in Jan 2019, specifically on Memory Lane due to his Alzheimer's.
He sadly passed away on the 1st Nov.
As a family, we cannot praise the care workers and all the staff on Memory Lane enough, they are friendly, helpful, kind people, that do an amazing job looking after people with dementia, some of the care workers clearly go the extra mile and it is wonderful to see that.

I work for a company called G-Fitness. I provide exercise therapy classes for the residents at Ashby House on a weekly basis. All the exercises are aimed around increasing quality of life, helping the residents retain abilities for longer along with being enjoyable. Whenever available the staff always join in with the sessions which I think is great and seem to really care about the residents. I always look forward to my weekly sessions at Ashby House.

In the residential area it’s beautiful, lovely quiet lounge, lovely TV lounge, activities going on, Dining room set beautifully, wine glasses on the tables with tablecloths, it all looks so lovely. However, go through into the dementia unit, no nice furniture there, it’s shabby, go to the severe dementia unit and it stinks! No care home should stink. OK we all accept there is an occasional mishap, but this is a permanent stench. Even if you are not seeking dementia care would you want your loved on in a place where management treat humans as second class or third class just because they have a particular medical diagnosis?
Such a shame as such potential, if the whole home were as nicely decorated at the front it would be good. Staff seem caring, residents are happy and engaged, in the dementia unit there appears to be a lack of things to do for the residents with a number of them anxious but no staff to reassure them.
Come on management, please remember our dementia loved ones are people too and they also deserve the best!

My mother had 3 weeks respite care at Ashby House. From Gwen, the deputy manager to Katheline, one of the activities co-ordinators, they couldn't have been more helpful. The home is clean, well furbished, warm and welcoming. No matter who I spoke to, the Nurses, carers or cleaners, they smiled and seemed pleased to see me and my mother. Having visited several other homes in the area I can honestly say Ashby House is head and shoulders above any other home I visited. Thank you for looking after my mother so well.

We placed our father here after he became unable to take care of himself due to illness. The care he receives is wonderful. The carers work hard to make sure every ones needs are met. The carers are empathic and patient. All residents have different needs but they are all met. They treat the residents like they are family. They treat the family members the same. They have patience and empathy for each person there. They are advocates for our family members if we aren’t available.
There are daily activities and outings too. They have 3 course meal, if the choices are what you like they will make what you would like to have, as everyone likes and dislikes are different. They cater for all allergies and diabetes.
They have laundry facilities and the housekeeping keeps the home clean and tidy.
The nurses are there for the resident and family members. They assist to to make sure your family member is comfortable and has all they need
Medically but also with empathy.
Management are available all the time.
There is an on-site hair salon.
