N. J.An amazing charity. Helen Sinclair helped me with an abandoned kitten that needed surgery. She was supportive and honest and made a contribution to her costs that helped save her life. If you are thinking of donating to charity, please consider Friends of the Animals.
S. C.We were told by our vets our puppy Arnie required an operation on his hip. Our pet insurance only covered initial xrays and we were still up against a very high bill for the operation. I reached out to numerous charities who were not able to help. I finally discovered Friends of the Animals and spoke with a lovely lady called Helen who is the founder. Helen was very understanding and sympathetic to our situation. We have received help with our vet bill from Friends of the Animals so Arnie can have his operation giving him the best chance to walk properly and get back to his bouncy loving self. In addition to receiving help with vet bills we received a supply of Arnie's favorite dog food and treats. We are extremely grateful for the help and support Helen has given to Arnie. Friends of the Animals are an amazing charity, please support them where possible so they can continue to help animals in need.
M. A.It is an amazing charity. Helen Sinclair helped us by making a donation towards our loved cat Tiger's operation, he fractured his foot in 2 places and required operation and support by putting a metal plate. It would have been difficult to afford without the donation!
P. K.Friends of the Animals is just an incredible charity. We've been supporters of this wonderful organisation since the 1980s, when it all began. The charity has been there for us on countless occasions, when we've desperately needed support. My beautiful boy Robbie (pictured) was recently diagnosed with mast cell cancer. Because of the location of the tumour, the options were extremely limited. I had no alternative but to go ahead with amputation surgery. Thankfully, the surgery went perfectly. However, we were left with a huge vet bill. The insurance only covered so much. We reached out to FOTA, and discussed the situation with Helen. Helen is the founder of the charity. She was able to provide assistance through the charity immediately. It was such a massive relief. This is what Friends of the Animals does, the organisation helps, cares and supports. Helen is a fantastic person, her dedication, determination, compassion and kindness is ALWAYS on display, and her love for animals is so inspiring. Helen's generosity goes hand in hand with the charity's values, which is so important. But, this can also be said of EVERYONE working for/with the charity. The work they do is phenomenal, and the animals they have helped over several decades is amazing. We cannot thank the charity anywhere near enough. My beautiful boy Robbie is now back to his normal, cheeky self, and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Helen and the charity. Please, please support Friends of the Animals in any way you can. The love and care they show for all animals is extraordinary, but they rely on our support, and they fully deserve it!! Thank you Helen, and all at Friends of the Animals!! 😁🐶
W.Friends of the animals are amazing. They have enabled me to get my cat the medical treatment she needed so badly. Helen was lovely and very fast at responding with myself and the vets. I was helped out financially, AND Helen ordered cat and rat food and treats for our furry family, and had them delivered to our front door. W.Pumpkin and I are so grateful for the contribution we received from friends of the Animals towards the cost of her surgery, originally a procedure to remove one lump turned into quite an operation to remove the many lumps they found, leaving pumpkin with a very large scar and many stitches, however despite being an old cat, ( you'd never know lol) pumkin is recovering very well indeed and is due to get her stitches out this week, once again from pumpkin and myself, thank you so much for your incredible help its a trully amazing service you provide much love pumkin and Julie xxx

Thank you so much it was really appreciated. Billy is recovering from his eye removal and Lally will be going for surgery in the next few days. Great communication with Helen at Isle of Wight. Took a lot of worry away at a very stressful time. Thank you again. Amazing! So, a week later Lally had a drastic dental with 8 teeth extracted and a nasal scope to investigate a blockage. Me and my dog had been struggling for months to find the money needed for her to undergo investigation into why her front and back left paws kept swelling up and causing her to limp. As soon as the charity Found out about the position I was in they were eager to help in any way they were able, and have since been such a massive support to me and my dogs health journey! Honestly couldn't thank them enough!

B. R.Friends of the Animals charity shop has just celebrated their 32nd year of helping our animal friends and pets on the Island and at an animal sanctuary on the mainland.
I believe the year figure quoted is correct, if not I will no doubt be informed.
A charity shop is a charity is a charity shop, but not all charity shops are the same.
I found this shop, well laid out, clean, fresh and airy, you obviously get similar items in all of the charity shops but this one has upped the anti a couple of notches.
Items were clean, not covered in grime, dust, dirt and food residue as is all to often found in many charity shops, staff were very friendly, knowledgeable about the items in the shop and prepared to find out if items you are looking out for may still be within their processing system.
The last words on the charity is that it must be the cheapest shop on the Island that I have been it and believe me there are not many that I have missed.
G. P.They help with the castration cost of my dog, they where so helpful and such a help lady who I spoke to on the phone
M. B.I can’t praise Friends of the Animals enough. It is a wonderful charity and Helen and Martin are great, compassionate, caring people. An awful lot of their work goes unannounced and unnoticed but they are forever helping animals and doing vital work for our four-legged friends. For example they recently helped Beneath the Wood sanctuary in Wales (who I also help) with the payment of a very large vet’s bill for Clyde (a dog), who had a cruciate ligament operation. Clyde has now fully recovered. Many, many thanks to FOTA from all at BTW.
J. B.Friends of the animals helped me hugely this year when my dog became suddenly unwell needing life saving surgery & the vets needed half of the costs up front. My family and I only had so much, but they provided the rest that was needed to go ahead. If it wasn’t for them I don’t know how I would have managed. The vets were good enough to let us pay the balance month by month, and I cannot thank all of these people enough for supporting us.
L. B.A truly wonderful charity made up of the most caring and compassionate people, Friends of the Animals help so many animals with food, vet bills, discounted neutering and so much more. Helen, the founder, has been saving animal lives for over 30 years and is still very much 'hands on', from pub quizzes to tombolas, and her deep commitment is clear to see. They support so many smaller animal welfare projects around the country and have helped me with specialist food (for my special cat!), bulk food and worm pills for helping a local cat colony and much more.
Great charity shops full of bargains and a dedicated and friendly team, they really are an asset to our community. Five stars all round!
H. Z.We can not thank Helen and the friends of the animals enough. They helped us when no one else would. After our family dog Rudy had to have emergency surgery this week and a plastic bag removed from his stomach and intestines , the bills soon mounted up. Helen and the charity kindly paid the first part of our bill 🐶 I urge anyone to donate to friends of the animals when ever you can as one day they may help save your pet too 🥰

A. M.When you are feeling broken physically and mentally, your financial safety net gone because of life's curved balls and the final straw when your beloved guardian angel horse gets sick with big vet bills mounting.... What can you do?
At my wits end I spoke with Helen at Friends Of The Animals. She took the time to hear my story and "got" how special my boy is and what he means to me. She took the trouble to speak with my vets and generously helped with bills.
I cannot speak highly enough of this kind hearted woman and Friends Of The Animals. I am so grateful from the bottom of my heart. When we are both better I will do all that I can to support this organisation.
N. F.Such an amazing charity. They helped when none of the large charities would. My vet had written my dog off because he needed a very costly CT scan, but Friends of the Animals got us our CT scan! Jack had an infection in a disk in his spine and was very poorly. The scan showed that a long course of anti biotics would sort out his problem and 4 months later, he was back his normal self and full of life. I would have lost my dog if wasn't for FOTA.

S.My frenchie puppy fell and fractured his elbow needed surgery and had no insurance as the breeder did not send off the activation codes for our 5 week free kennel club insurance friends of the animals gave Me help and support over the phone and emails and also financial help toward his operation I can never thank them enough for being so amazing
C. F.I reached out to FOTA IW after a necessary dental procedure for my dear little Penny left me with a bill that all but wiped me out. I adopted Penny from FOTA IW in December 2014, the absolute best thing I have ever done in my life. Nothing would stop me from giving her the best care at any cost.
I was made redundant last year due to the covid crisis, but when I was working, vet bills were easily managed. I now exist on the state pension and don't qualify for any other benefits.
FOTA IW have generously offered to pay over half the cost of the procedure and in doing so, given me, and 12 year old Penny, a new lease on life.
I will never forget this act of kindness towards an animal, and human, in need and will continue to support FOTA IW for the rest of my life.
