I feel my mother has been comfortable at Avon Park Residential Care Home in the last few years she has been there. The staff and management have always helped her, and us her family members, make her stay as natural and like her own home as possible. And with the COVID pandemic, I think they have acted in the interests of the care home residents and staff in a very professional and practical fashion, in what has been a very difficult time. And these decisions have been reassuring for the safety of our loved ones who are at this care home.

What a difficult time we’ve all had during the pandemic but especially for those who are supporting our family members. Avon Park have shone through the last 18months with their usual enthusiastic helpful and friendly way. They have coped very well with regulations put at their door and kept both residents and staff safe, which they have always done since my mum moved in nearly three years ago. She still calls Avon Park her home and she is very much part of the community there. They always encourage her to get involved with activities and socialising and I think this has enriched her life since moving from her own flat. She takes most of her meals in the dining room and often remarks on how enjoyable her latest meal was. We are looking forward to joining her for lunch again when restrictions are eased. The management and staff have always kept us informed of mum’s progress and made us feel confident that she is safe and well. This has been especially important during the lockdowns when we could not be together. I never thought that mum would be ‘Zooming’, but with staff help she’s mastered the art of virtual communications. Id like to thank all at Avon Park for all their hard work in difficult conditions and would not hesitate in recommending this Residence. Stewart Mitchell

A strong and experienced management team combined with friendly care staff ensure that Avon Park delivers as a residential care home. My mother has been there for over two years now and is very settled and happy. Most importantly, it is very obvious that she feels safe and well cared for which in my view is the number one measure of whether the carers are doing their job. The staff were always extremely welcoming pre-Covid and even when Covid lockdown was put in place, the home worked extremely hard to keep the residents safe. Following some relaxation of the rules, the staff have made relatives and friends very welcome again with well organised visiting arrangements in place. The owner is very much hands on and is known to the residents which I am sure contributes significantly to the good feel of the home. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone looking for such a service.

Mum (Joan) spent 3 happy years at Avon Park. The staff were superb in all aspects and she loved to chat to them about her life and likes. They always made time for her and all the other residents and went above and beyond at all times, especially in her final two weeks. They were not only superb to her but also to me, which I found extremely comforting. I can't sing the praises of this care home loudly enough and am so glad that Mum was so happy there. I am 95 years old and a resident at Avon Park. I’ve lived here since April 2016 and I give it 5 stars. The staff are all very nice, and very kind, and there’s a good atmosphere. It’s entirely up to you how you spend your time. Quite a lot of residents like to be in the main lounge with others in the home, being friendly, taking part in group activities. I like playing my piano, tending my few plants on my patio and listening to music in my room. Sometimes I join the other residents. You’re not lonely because staff regularly pop in - offering drinks, or asking for your meal selections, or bringing back your laundry, or giving you your pills. There’s a lovely chef who cooks beautifully. It’s a great place to live.

I'm updating an earlier review as Mum has now lived at Avon Park for five years and is still as happy as ever. I can confidently say you couldn't find a kinder, more patient and caring team, ably looking after a lovely group of elderly people. Each and every one of the staff goes to great lengths to keep all the residents healthy, happy and as active as possible. Waited on hand and foot, and with her pot plants, piano playing, vast collection of music CDs, along with everything else, Mum continues to enjoy her residential care wholeheartedly.

My mother-in-law has been at Avon Park for almost 8 months and my wife and sister-in-law feel truly blessed that they found a place for her there. All members of staff are not only extremely professional but loving and caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. From the minute you walk through the door to visit, you are welcomed as you would be entering the home of a loved relative. The house and gardens are also well looked after and cleanliness is first class. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending this home.

I am so pleased we found Avon Park Care Home for my Mother, she has been a resident for almost two months and is very happy there. All the staff are very helpful and friendly and most welcoming. The food is excellent and the home is extremely clean. The atmosphere is that of a "home from home".

My mother was a Resident At Avon Park From July 2013 to November 2014. Prior to her retirement she was the Matron of a 60 bed Hampshire County Council Residential Care Home. My mother rated her care at Avon Park as excellent, stating that nothing was too much trouble for the Staff, ever. As a family who visited regularly, we also found the Staff exceptional. As a friend and regular visitor to Avon Park, I can recommend it highly. The staff, at every level, are comitted and caring and the residents are happy and well cared for. The food is very good and since the Food Standards Agency have used a rating system, the home has achieved and maintained a level 5 (highest) for food hygiene. The home has a lovely atmosphere and people say it really is like home - I entirely agree.

Until recently I was employed on a part time basis at Avon Park. It was with a heavy heart I left after 14 years. In all honesty I cannot believe that 14 years could go by so quickly, and the reason it did was the friendliness of the place. It just never felt like work and I feel privileged to have so many wonderful memories of my time there. From my very first day to my last you could guarantee the warmth of the welcome from staff and residents alike as soon as you walk in the building and it was the same for everyone who entered. Be it visitor, health workers, tradesmen, postie etc etc. Its also just about the warmest place temperature wise I have ever been. The gas bill must be massive but I think that just shows the level of care shown towards the residents. Take a look. I am confident you will be impressed.
