Reviews of Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich

My husband and I visited Belfast and Northern ireland over 2 weeks ago. We were staying in Ballymena we found it unfriendly and judgemental once they heard our southern Ireland accent or saw our Irish car. But we stopped here on the hop on hop off bus tour and it eas so nice people smiled at us we felt so comfortable here. A love girl on the cafe side was so nice to us and spoke to us . It was one of the highlights of our trip to Northern ireland.

Beautiful art center. Prices are a bit steep though, I once bought an absolutely stunning cup here. It was my very favorite cup and I posted many unnecessary photos of it on fb and Instagram without filters because it didn't need it. I was always careful washing it. One day to my absolute horror and went to grab my cup and there was a long crack down the side of it 😩

Recently attended an intensive Irish course here, really good course and the bookshop is excellent came away with books for myself and my 3 year old daughter. There was live trad music playing - nice touch.

Had lunch here today with family - food is wonderful and the staff are delightful. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Highly Recommended
R. B.
Went to see Joby Fox & Ursula Burns playing. 2 course meal was top class grub! Enjoyed every second.
B. K.
No car park. Disabled access great. Food and service excellent. Bring your own alcohol or buy from across the road.
K. N. (.
nice venue for small events. had a great time watching a folk music/interpretative dance/acrobatic/cyr wheel performance. couldn't go to the cafe as it was reserved for a private event, but the bookstore had many interesting Irish themed items on sale.
P. J. O.
A great way to show locals and visitors alike the living culture of Ireland.
Great food besides ... and easy access to road and public bus transport.
L. C.
Áit iontach. Great book shop, great food and friendly staff. Bain trial as!
S. B.
A great facility, but the new catering leaves a great deal to be desired. Our food was luke warm and much more expensive than previously.
E. B.
This was my first visit. Had a late lunch with my sisters and nephew in the restaurant. We were all very pleased with the meals and the service was excellent.

Irish language and cultural centre

Very Enjoyable Visit Plenty of Choice Staff were Friendly and Knowledgeable Decorated With good Examples of Irish history and Political Freedom Fighters Menu looked Lovely Had no Time to Sample food but will Next time I'm There
F. C.
I love the food, love the size of portions and prices are reasonable. Friendly staff and all! Only it is missing to get 5 stars is that the staff too distracted with the kitchen and don't pay attention to customers that sometimes have to wait a lot to order or to pay. I don't mind much about it, but some of my visitors have already noticed it. Apart from it, all is brilliant.

Go hiontach agus go raibh míle maith agat. Went for a book launch. Wonderful experience and staff were very helpful to those of us learning Irish. Thanks again.

Delicious food is served by lovely staff. A very welcoming place. Very relaxed atmosphere. My sister visited for the first time and she couldn't stop complimenting the California chicken and looks forward to returning.

Best scones in the West! Decent coffee; reasonably priced, good food.. but what makes this place somewhere I really love coming back to.... is the welcome, it's got a lovely chilled vibe. Highly recommend.
J. Q.
Lovely food and lovely atmosphere!
Really friendly staff... and very helpful
Menu both irish and English.
Ó. C.
Great selection of Irish books and really lovely food at their restaurant Bia. Doing a great lockdown takeaway service atm! Their Sunday dinner was amazing!!! Only £10 for 2 courses.
C. M.
A very important landmark in West Belfast and its Gaeltacht area. The cafe is diner-type food so don't expect fine dining as that misses the point. A great place to meet friends and experience Irish language and culture. The gift and book shop is great, especially for the Irish language and the arts are well supported.
A. M.
A great spot to immerse yourself in culture in Belfast. A great shop with all sorts of books and learning materials in Irish language. Loads of events and classes are put on regular for learners with amazing teachers. The restaurant attached is amazing and the service there also. Great if you want to try out your cúpla focal.
P. M.
Great food. Very attentive staff and excellent value for money.
Will be back.
M.
Great coffee. There was a duo playing on the day we visited, really nice.
A. M.
Nice and interesting cultural centre, but the cafe there is no good if you are on a vegan or plant based diet. They had absolutely zero foods for vegans, which is really poor these days and they were not helpful to offer to make something alternative for us.
L. A.
I did only spend a few minutes in there, but the bookshop has got a rich collection of books, both in English and in Gaelic. And quite a number of CDs with Irish music. I wish i could have sampled some of them, i might have bought one or two...
But you can also go there just to enjoy a cuppa coffee.
C. R.
I am learning Irish, brought the family down a Saturday afternoon so we could 'taste the gaeltacht experience'. inside we found a cafe that was booked out for first communion and an Irish language book shop.(2 good educational books purchased). I was disappointed thats all there seemed to be and my wife wondered why I had been so keen to get down. wouldn't recommend but I maybe came down at the wrong time. doubt I will be back again any time soon.
G. M.
Great for improving your Irish or learning cùpla focail. Coffee bar available. Book shop, some lovely Irish theme ornaments to buy. Also items of clothing with Irish theme. Art gallery attached. Wheel chair access. Occasional theatre housed upstairs.
J. B.
Very expensive for what it is. The food is decent but there is not enough education stuff about the Irish language. It's more like a café/restaurant and gift shop than a museum or a tourist attraction.
K. K.
Friendly & relaxed atmos - you can speak any language you want but you'll find others who can chat in Irish. Food is tasty, staff & service are great
Y. R.
The language course was great, with entertaining, experienced and inspiring teachers. Staff is helpful and welcoming. If you want to start learning Irish or strengthen it or if you have been disgusted with it by some old fashion teacher and you want to give it another chance, this is the place to go!
The bookshop part has also many titles about different topics, in English and/or in Irish.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
J. L.
Disappointed not to hear a word of Irish spoken.
Á. T.
Would be a regular here as my daughter attends Aisling Óg and they have a reasonable lunch menu and a great gift shop. Service can be very slow at times
F. M.
Wonderful , fresh and exciting gluten free food available including delicious desserts , the staff were more than friendly and helpful and I would 100% recommend this eatery to anyone.
B. M.
Staff friendly and attentive. Our food was delicious.

Love everything about it ,staff friendly and helpful and the food is hot and fresh and nicely presented. A very nice place to go to relax and talk to people around you

A must for a visit whilst in Beal Feirste (Belfast). Part of the Beal Feirste Gaeltacht. There is an art gallery that has local artistic works on all the time. Sells homemade crafts, books and jewellery. There is a large cafe were you can enjoy the delicious food on offer, and believe me, it's nice. Coffee, beers, wine on offer. A variety of writers, artists, politicians and academics are usually here for a coffee and to speak the native tounge, Irish. Very much a cultural hub for the people of all! Wheelchair accessible. 5/5*****

(Translated) I did not have too much time to discover it thoroughly, but it was excellent to spread the Irish language and culture. They have information on all murals of the Protestant party. Be sure to visit this space.

No vaig tinguer massa temps de descobrir-lo a fons, però excel·lent la tasca que fan de difusió de la llengua i cultura irlandesa. Tenen informació de tots els murals de la part protestant. No deixeu de visitar aquest espai.
