A brilliant and inclusive club. Outstanding teachers, a friendly atmosphere, and a comprehensive traditional Chinese martial arts system. I've loved learning from Matt and the other instructors as well as making friends through this practice. If you're looking for a club which will accept you as you are whilst challenging you to learn, grow, and develop then look no further! Give it a go and enjoy your training!

Nam Pai Chuan has been part of my life for the past 25 years. I love the balance between martial training, internal work and welcoming community that this club creates. If you’re on a lifelong journey of training your body, mind and spirit then you can’t take a foot wrong with signing up as a member.

This is a great club. Keeps your body fit and your mind stimulated. This teaches you plenty of techniques, self discipline and how to defend yourself (if ever necessary). A good mix of ages and abilities, no class is ever the same, as there are so many facets to this traditional chinese martial art. Highly recommend for all!

One of the longest-established, most credible martial arts schools in Brighton. Fantastic teaching for all abilities in a friendly, supportive setting - it's as much for those focused on fitness and flexibility as the more martially inclined. A great discipline for mind and body - and lots of fun as well!

When I decided to join a martial arts club in Brighton I had a small list of clubs to visit before making my decision, the first of which was Nam Pai Chuan. I never made it to the second club as in the first class it was clear to me that this was the club I was looking for: it was open, inclusive, supportive and fun. I joined then and have never looked back; it's been over 6 years now. Some of the many advantages I found are: classes differ from session to session so they are always exciting, they cover a vast range of techniques and training methods, people (both instructors and fellow students) are friendly and helpful, they are the perfect way to unwind, exercise, have fun, and develop a skill for life.

I've been practicing Nam Pai Chuan for over a decade. It's a really special art. It's been amazing for my physical and mental health, and my confidence. The classes are friendly and accessible, and suit a range of abilities. The students are diverse and the teaching is great. And it's fun!

I tried out a few kung fu schools before deciding on Sussex NPC. They were the friendliest, and even in a trial class there was a huge variety of techniques. Paired drills, chi gung, and sparring (knees only for a beginner). 10 years later there is still huge variety and new things to learn in every class. Each time I've passed a grading, I've looked at the next grades work, and thought I'll never be able to do that. But months of practise, and patient teaching and guidance mean that I can. Your muscles will hurt, and you'll put the work in and become fitter, more flexible, and healthier. And sometimes at the end of a long day hitting some pads hard is just what you need.
I've enjoyed every second!

This excellent kung fu club is part of the wider UK and international Shaolin Nam Pai Chuan system. I really appreciate Sifu Matt Gross’s down to earth, practical and honest approach. Try out this class if you want to develop your strength of body and mind. There’s also an excellent balance of women to men in the club and a broad focus on many aspects of self defence, fitness, flexibility, and art.

After trying different martial art schools I come across to Nam Pai Chuan style, I felt in love of the passion and skills of my sifu that always pushed me and triggered sometimes my deepest shadows to face them. It isnt just a martial art which targets the physical but also the mental and the spirit.

I have been training at Sussex NPC for 13 years and highly recommend it to anyone looking to start their journey in martial arts. If you are looking to get fit, learn something new and better yourself, NPC kung fu is an excellent choice!

I have been training here for seven years and I started at age 50! Kung Fu is for everyone and our system encourages diversity. Start young, start old - just start!

Have been going for a few years now and have found it a great way to exercise and meet new people, with schools across the country - definitely recommend!
