Reviews of Kings Monkton School
What an amazing place is Kings Monkton School. My Granddaughter was having a tough time at another independent school and friends recommended that we have a look at this school. A show around with the Principal followed during opening hours and as we walked around the lovely old building, without exception the pupils we saw were friendly, polite and respectful. Most classroom doors were open and we saw pupils engaged in their lessons working hard. The school promotes a nurturing environment with strong pastoral care and the 'family feel' was evident everywhere. We knew that this was going to be the right school and enrolled her. The difference to our family has been amazing. Our granddaughter is now doing well at school, has made some lovely friends and most importantly, is happy!!
It seems that an individual's experience in schools in general varies wildly. Personally my experience has been pretty good, however others may have a different experience. I'm rating this school 4/5 since it clearly has a few issues, but overall it seems fairly robust. I don't really know how this school compares to others, as I have not been to nor seen any other schools.
I am proud to be the Principal of this outstanding school, which has a holistic approach to the care, wellbeing and teaching of its pupils into rounded individuals. I would ask people to come and see the school and judge for themselves what we offer.
Excellent school I studied up to GCSE/BTEC/L2 and believe the small class sizes worked very well in ensuring I reached my full potential .
We moved our daughter to Kings Monkton school at age 11 and couldn't be happier with our decision. She is now in the Sixth Form Acedemy and throughout her time at the school all the staff have been very supportive and caring. She has develped enormously both emotionally and academicaly.
Class sizes are small (max 15) so pupils have a lot of time with their various teachers and this makes for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in class and throughout the school. It also helps pupils to achieve well at GCSE and "A Level" times.
The school has a strong anti-bullying and behavioural codes which pupils are expected to adhear to and, if necessary, the school is not afraid to ask disruptive pupils to leave in the event of exceptional or repeated bad behaviour (which may explain the occasional negative review and dubious claim).
If you are looking for a smaller school with high levels of pastoral care and happy well adjusted pupils achieving beyond their expected results Kings Monkton is well worth a visit.
I was worried about how my son would cope with such a big change when we moved him to Kings Monkton, but it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. He settled in so quickly and academically he's come on in leaps and bounds. Staff go above and beyond to support students and meet needs of the individual. Fantastic school, we couldn't be happier.
My grandson is a student at Kings Monkton and has benefited enormously from the solid teaching foundation and family run ethics within the school. The staff are encouraging and supportive. I highly recommend this school which is second to none.
Well located school in the centre of Cardiff with an emphasis on small class sizes and good work ethic.
There is a school bus service that covers Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan which avoids the need to sit in traffic dropping kids off!
The school takes children from the age of three all the way up to sixth form.
A fantastic school. Moved our son for GCSEs and he has thrived in the small classes and caring environment. Highly recommended.
