UP DATED REVIEW: 12.07.21 SEE BELOW! Suffolk Rider Training are awesome and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. After having completed my Big Bike training with SRT I went on to pass Mod 1 and Mod 2 first time!! Clive and Graham were so helpful when I approached them for my training, so accommodating with training and test dates. My Instructor Rob ( ....Good looking Rob ) was informative, patient and so helpful, the perfect Instructor for me - thank you Rob! On test days other Instructors being Luke and Shirley accompanied me to the test centre, both gave really invaluable pre test coaching!!! Massive thank you to SRT for all your help and guidance provided. Following completion of my Mod 1 and 2 with SRT, I asked Grahams advice about Advanced Rider Training. The course suggested being the Enhanced Rider Scheme being DVSA Approved. I completed my ERS yesterday. My Instructor was Chris Kirk. Course time 9am to 4pm allowing for a few breaks. The course was perfect, we covered around 100 miles of riding, rode all types of roads from country lanes to fast moving dual carriage ways. Having just passed my test and being highly inexperienced, the day provided me much more ' post test ' experience on how to ride. Honestly I would recommend this course 100% it's so vital for novice riders to take and I know the advice I received will make me a safer, more aware and proficient rider. Fantastic - passed my A license (passed both mods 1st attempt) after doing an intensive two day DAS with them. Shirley was my instructor and she was brilliant, faultless tuition as with all the other instructors as I had a few extra private sessions prior to the DAS - so thanks also to Mark, Luke, Rob and Graham and the rest of the team. Safe riding is top priority for them and I will be booking some advanced rider training through them in the future. Had some great well maintained bikes to learn on too!

I booked with Suffolk rider training to do my Cat A motorbike test, i must say that was very professionally managed throughout the process. First of all they done a big bike upgrade to see if was feasible to see if i could handle the Bike. I then went on a 2 day intensive course with Shirly and i must say i was taught in a very professional manor and learnt a lot in those 2 days. Graham accompanied me to do my mod 1 and my mod 2, he took me out a hour before hand each time for expertise tuition. Brilliant training from the Guys at SRT With the help from Both Robs (one for my Big Bike upgrade), Mark for the intensive weekend and Graham I passed both mod 1 and 2 first time with 2 faults on mod2 and none on mod1. I HIGHLY recommend Suffolk Rider Training, I Just had a 2 hour session today with this training school and it was out of this world. My Instructor Luke was absolutely Brilliant, he was VERY professional, Polite and calm at all times and was always feeding back information to me through the com's whilst on the move. I did drive from Colchester to Ipswich to train with Suffolk Riders and I would do it time and time again. All the staff are Very professional and polite and provide a nice welcome as you turn up. I would seriously recommend anyone who is looking to obtain and CBT, A1, A2 OR Full A licence around or near this training school to do it 100% took me half hour to drive there But the Quality of training you will get and the High level of professionalism you will get is out of this world and wont get it anywhere else :) Fantastic Training School :)

I was a complete beginner when I did my CBT in June this year. Mark and Glyn were amazing and patient. I enjoyed the day. Then I did an upgrade with Mark. Took my theory test July. Had a few weekend lessons up at the test centre for the Mod 1 and passed that the following week. I then had several lessons with Mark for Mod 2 test practice and passed today! Exactly 3 months from start to finish, obviously It could have been quicker without all the COVID restrictions with test availability. I would definitely recommend SRT to anyone, the staff are friendly, professional and incredibly helpful and patient. Thank you 🎉.

Outstanding trading from amazing people!!! In mid November I decided that I would get a bike and get my full bike license as at 45 I felt it was the right time. From the outset when I met Graham I felt at ease and knew I was at the right place to get my training. Justin and Glyn did my CBT training and all went brilliantly. Shirley then took over and got me competent on the Kawasaki Z650. She had the patience of a saint, was always encouraging and never shy to pull me up when I was a getting them roundabouts wrong! Her humour kept me going as every day we were out it rained really badly. (I recommend the tomato soup at Orwell’s on those cold days. You’ll know what I mean if you get taken there!) I failed my Mod1 as my nerves got the better of me. It was a really silly mistake but a fail nevertheless. Failing was a good thing as it meant that I knew what was coming next time I took the test. I did the test again the following week and with Rob’s help got through it. He also took me to my Mod 2 this week. Suffolk Rider Training are a collective of really amazing human beings who understand how daunting it is to get on a bike properly for the first time. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who wants to train to get their motorcycle license as their expertise will get you the right training with the right encouragement and where you don’t feel like just another student or worse, a number. Thank you SRT again for turning my dream into reality.

Excellent experience with Suffolk Rider Training. Spent a very wet weekend riding with Rob J before my MOD 1 & 2. Excellent training given throughout all of my course which gave me confidence before my tests. Did my CBT with Shirley and Glyn yesterday and I loved it! Very professional and I felt very relaxed. Really informative training with a sprinkle of humour. When we went round Ipswich, we had all scenarios thrown at us. School run, busy roundabouts, police cars, rain, sunshine, road glare but with Shirley guiding us, all was well. It’s a lovely team to work with as they are a good humoured close knit bunch, all with cracking knowledge, and they have brilliant equipment. having got my mod 1 in Basildon with a different school trying to book a mod 2 at the test centre was crazy and next days I could have done was January. so I looked for other test centres to find a date a few days away in Ipswich. A quick phone call to Graham who was welcoming and booked the test on the gov website for me and booked in a couple hours the day before (Sunday) so I could get to know some of the routes and road and also a couple of hours before my test on the Monday. Rob was my instructor and he was very good with helping me to notice things i might have been doing that maybe I hadn’t noticed. He was friendly and made me feel confident as the bike I was riding was different to the one I had previously rode on on my lessons. I passed my mod 2 on the Monday and I’m extremely grateful to them for helping me at short notice. Throughout the whole process from CBT to Completing my Mod2 test the training was top notch, not only great tuition but fun too, just brilliant. These guys deliver a consistently good training package .. tailored to each individuals abilities .. they not only coached me back onto biking as a mature student .. but also do both my son's previously. The group of instructors are not only very knowledgeable but very approachable and friendly .. they make you fell at ease from the 1st phone call and you feel part of a big family at their training hq and out on the road. I can't recommend the Group enough .. all I can say is give them a bell or pop in and see them .. they make a descent cuppa too .. Life's to short to sit back and wish .. get out and experience it .. on 2 wheels .. and see for yourself how great Ipswich Rider Training services are.

Had my CBT on wednesday 13th september 2017. The instructors are brilliant. Incredibly polite and helpful. Throughout the first hour I didn't believe I was going to pass. I struggled with clutch control mainly. Every issue I had the instructors explained what I was doing and talked me through how to solve the issue. By the end of the day I was quite confident that with some more practice I will have no issues. I passed and gained my CBT certificate. I felt very comfortable being on the road after only a couple hours off-road training and that is down to the instructors. I highly recommend these guys and have already suggested to a couple of people to go to them to do it.

When i decided to take my motorcycle test and wondered where will i take it and who will i use to learn just how to ride a bike i was recommended by a friend to Ipswich Rider Training. I called the office and spoke with Graham the owner, i explained exactly what i wanted and that i work abroad and my wish to carry out the training and test (tests!!) all in an intensive weeks training. Graham was great organizing the whole program for me, when i eventually started as i was unable to commit for over 5 months due to work commitments Graham jumped in and arranged everything for me within a week. from the first day with Shirley a lovely lady who got me on a bike and riding after a 30 year break i felt in safe hands and very quickly realized these guys are professionals. 5 days after starting by course and im writing this review with my full bike licence and thankful i chose the best option for me to achieve it. I cannot recommend Ipswich Rider Training highly enough. I was lucky to have two great instructors: Shirley and Rob, who took me from an unbalanced, inexperienced rider to passing my Module 1 and Module 2 tests first time in 2.5 days of lessons. Rob in particular was excellent, he’d regularly stop us on rides to talk through certain aspects of riding a bike. His analogy of a rolling coffee cup really helped me understand cornering and got me through the high-speed avoidance element of the Module 1 test. I live in London but made the decision to learn and take my tests in Ipswich, as the cost is a bit less and the traffic a tad calmer. I’d really recommend this option to anyone else thinking of learning to ride a motorbike. Thanks also to Graham for all his help in booking (and re-booking) my tests and being extremely flexible with organising lessons and tests to minimise time off from work (I managed to do everything my just taking two half days).

Excellent training provided by these guys! Bikes are kept in great condition and run as sweet as a nut. I was only there for CBT but they made me feel like I was having training for my full test. The instructor always checked to make sure I was comfortable with what I was doing and calm and reassuring when I stalled, (which happened ALOT). All in all a great place and I am considering returning next year for direct access!

He's calm and intuitive, knew exactly what I needed in terms of instruction and guidance and I'm not sure I would have got through test-day without him! I passed my test last year with IRT. So to improve my riding skills I choose to go on one of their Norfolk taster ride. The lead out rider was Clive and I was very impressed that he turned the sun dial to full setting. I was riding with a similar experienced rider and this was perfect for the ride. Clive led us through the wilds of Suffolk and the north Norfolk Roads with a great selection of A & B roads. All the time Clive helped us improve our road sense without it actually being a riding lesson. Above all else it was just a great ride out on a beautiful sunny day. If you want to build your confidence on the bike or just enjoy a loverly day out on the bike, I can highly recommend the ride; and the team at IRT ~ Cheers Richard C

I've used Ipswich Rider Training a few times now and every time I've recieved a fantastic level of training and service. First cbt when I was 17, a refresher cbt last year when i was 23 and my full category a licence this year at 24. Every time I've been made to feel welcome and comfortable, I used my own gear but they can supply if needed. They have an off road area for you to get started in to gain basic skills on the bike and basic bike controls, you then progress onto the road where they run you through all the necessary junctions, starts and scenarios. They allow you as the rider to try some junctions by yourself and advise after if you could improve what you do. They also go beyond what's needed for the test and teach you additional but basic skill to improve your safety and riding skills in the future. Upon completing the riding tests, I have asked about advanced tests and riding clubs /groups which I recieved alot if advice on. I highly recommend Ipswich Rider Training to everybody and anybody wether it's a refresher course or a full licence. Thanks guys!! (and girls)
