Reviews of Circuit Based Training

Circuit Based Training Mallory Park are simply unique! Sean and his team are imparting information and giving advice from the moment you arrive ( in fact Sean was giving me the theory of counter steer before I’d even set foot in the building ) Seldom do you come across people who are so committed to teaching.
You are taught on a race track which allows you to get up to speed and build your confidence. The team are phenomenal - for example Guy, an ex police outrider is very relaxed which makes it easy to absorb his wealth of experience. And then Cassie is really encouraging and fantastic teacher, not to mention great fun. I won’t miss the pressure of taking my test but I shall miss going there!

Did the 5 day direct access. Excellent course, Sean and Cassie are both great instructors, really knowledgeable and helped gradually build us over there week. Balance is good too, with first day on the track and later on the road, so helps build confidence and getting used to the bike.
Only advice would be to get your theory test done before you start, I needed to do mid week which lost me some time on the road.

I did the 5 day direct access course.
This is the only place that you should do your motorcycle training, all the instructors are extremely knowledgable, total experts in there field, explain everything in perfect detail and are really nice helpful down to earth guys that really care.
They don’t just teach you to pass your test, they teach you how to ride for life.
There was 7 people in our group and the level of experience and the learning speeds were all totally different, but the way they set things up is everyone gets to learn at there own pace, so nobody gets held back and nobody gets rushed into the next manoeuvre without getting it.
Learning on the big wide empty race track makes things a whole lot easier when going up the gears and getting to 70, otherwise the first time you do that will be on a busy dual carriageway (no thanks) lol.
In the five days I did: my cbt on Monday, my mod 1 on Thursday and my mod 2 on Friday I was totally confident going into all of my tests as we had gone over them loads and done loads of mock tests. So I ended up with the easy pass result.
Big thanks to all the guys, Sean, Dave, Cassie and Guy. Behind every great student there are great teachers and these guys are the real deal and I take my hat off to them.
P. S.
100% recommend circuit based training.
I done the advanced cornering course including braking mid bend which in my opinion is one of the most valuable skills you can have on a bike.
I am a pretty confident rider but know there is always more to learn and this course has massively improved my riding skills all round.
All the instructors were amazing, a great bunch to have teaching you.
Thanks to all of you.

Can not recommend Sean and the team highly enough. From day 1 to day 4 the fundamentals of riding a motorbike were well explained and demonstrated. Nothing was too much trouble, no question too stupid and put me at ease throughout. I was well prepared for both MOD 1 and 2 which I passed first time having only had 6 months of riding experience. Thank you Sean, Guy and Dave for a fantastic week.

What a great set up!
Sean, Cassie and Guy walked us through the basics and stuff Id not have had the opportunity to learn elsewhere, the high speed braking in a bend!
The high speed emergency stops
At some point those skills will need to be used, they gave us the confidence to carry out those actions with in a couple of days of the course start . The team are extremely patient, there’s no rush,
Everyone is well looked after,
Great selection of bikes and top level instruction from stsrt to finish.
I came away with mod 1 & mod 2 passed in 5 days.
Thank you CBT

Considering a 5-day DAS with Circuit Based Training? What are you waiting for – get yourself booked in!
Having had a shocking experience doing my CBT with another training school a few years ago, I was a bit apprehensive about doing my DAS and was on the lookout for a school with a very different teaching approach. I came across Circuit Based Training and did I luck out! Sean was super knowledgeable and thorough in his teaching on and off the bike; Cassie was a super friendly and (much needed at times) calming presence; and Guy was very encouraging and didn’t hesitate to offer me a pillion ride on the track to help me understand one of the drills I was struggling with.
Despite having a big wobble at the end of day 1, after asking for a different bike for day 2 training (something Sean and Cassie didn’t batter an eyelid at – they just want you to find the bike that works for you) I never looked back. I can’t understate the benefits of getting the off-road training, it was a big confidence builder before embarking on road riding – as well as being a fun opportunity to try out a few different bikes in a safe environment. I went on to do all my on-road riding in the hands of Cassie, who was brilliant at making the riding fun while giving constructive, respectful guidance when needed. She put me at enough ease that I was more than happy to ask what might have been considered by others to be stupid questions! You could really tell how invested she was in her students and how much she wanted us to succeed – I’m not sure I could’ve done it without her.
We started training at 10am on Monday and I had my full licence by 10am on Friday – winner!

I booked the 4 day flexible DAS course with Circuit Based Training.
As soon as I arrived and met Sean, Cassie, and Dave I knew it was going to be a brilliant experience - I wasn't wrong.
Safe riding is their first priority. Having a good laugh is their second.
Monday - Introductions to the bikes, handling exercises to build confidence, and some classroom instruction to illustrate important points. By the end of the first day we were counter-steering at high speed round Gerrard's corner. Incredible feeling.
Tuesday - Some classroom instruction and then out on the road to put into practise what we had learned.
Wednesday - Slow speed riding drills and lots of road riding. We also got to spend an hour doing MOD 1 mock tests on the local DVSA MOD 1 test site which I found really useful and settling.
Thursday - Meant to be a day off for me, but I used it as an additional training day instead. It ended up being a brilliant decision as I was able to ride with Sean all day and he highlighted several things which improved my safety and fluidity whilst riding on the road.
Friday - MOD 1 in the morning and MOD 2 at lunchtime. By this point I felt 110% prepared thanks to the high quality instruction I had received all week. Consequently, I got a perfect pass on both MOD 1 and MOD 2.
I spent most of my time with Cassie who is a lovely girl and a brilliant instructor. She is knowledgable, calm, patient, and loves to chat bikes over a coffee! No question was too much, no issue too small and I felt safe and accounted for.
Sean and Dave are also equally excellent instructors and together they make a solid team.
Cheers guys, was a pleasure.

Firstly a massive Thank you to Cassie, Dave, Guy and Sean.
The rest of the reviews speak for themselves.
I did the 5 day Direct Access Training, nothing was too much effort for all of the team.
Everything was broken down into an easy to understand format with a good mixture of classroom learning, instructor examples and then practice on the track.
All the aspects of the CBT, MOD 1 & 2 were clearly explained with plenty of time for mock testing.
M. F.
Did the knee down course, which was better than another course I did with a different company.
The verbal instruction time and on track time were just right.
I thought the course was a tad pricey, especially using my own bike, but the use of Mallory Park made up for it and I learned more about my bike & its capabilities. A safe environment with excellent road surface and run off (although, to be fair, you're never going that fast to need it) as opposed to an old airfield with broken up surface and no decent radius corners to use.
I achieved what I went there to do; get my knee down, but you must put the effort in, listen to the instructors and trust them, otherwise you won't, there's no guarantee, they knew what they were doing and what was needed. Don't be afraid to open your gob and ask if you're unsure about anything. I was the limiting factor, not my bike, not the track, not the instruction.
Sean & Guy were great instructors & very approachable.
N. L.
The team at Mallory really are outstanding. They work together to ensure you get everything required to not only pass your test but leave feeling like a competent motorcyclist. Great choice of bikes and no question was too much bother regarding bike, gear or general road trivia.
To put it into perspective day 2 I was on Mallory park race track performing an emergency stop around a corner at over 60mph in the rain. Where else could you learn that other than the hard way on the road under the worst circumstances.
Absolutely 5 star and thanks Team CBT!!!!

Sean and Cass took me under their wings and provided me with the best 5 days I've ever had a on a motorbike. Hundreds of miles under my belt and only 2 minors on a full Bike test. I will be returning very soon for more training, its a special place. If you want to be a safer and better rider , come here to train.
I had previously endured a terrible experience with a London motorcycle school where I had an accident while practicing for my mod1, I came off while practicing for slaloms and the instructor just sat there and watched.
After slowly walking over to help me pick up the bike he just told me to "relax" . I received 0 training ,
Sean and Cass fixed that and got me ready for the riding world, they built my confidence slowly, were incredibly patient and always always went the extra mile to make sure I had really nailed the concepts they were trying to teach me.
Circuit based training is hand down the best place to get your bike license.

I succesfully took the 5 day DAS intensive course with Circuit Based Training in April 2021. On booking the course, the main selling point for me was the emphasis on learning effective bike control in the controlled environment of the track. However, this course is so much more than that. Sean, Cassie and Dave were incredible instructors. Individually and as a team were they able to routinely exceed my expectations, whether taking the time to point out and address specific training needs, or sticking around another couple of hours to drill technique or providing moral support pre-Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests. Couldnt recommend enough.
d. v. k.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 day course, it was very informative and helped me alot with confidence on the bike. All instructors are very knowledgeable and have the expertise to ensure you don't just pass the test but become a happy and confident rider.

Genuinely, this is the best place in the UK to learn.
The attitude of Sean and his team is to teach you the important stuff that will save your life, that no other school does or is able to, given the unique way the DAS course starts, on a racetrack.
That you're given a choice of bikes to find something that you like, builds your confidence (especially for taller riders) as opposed to other schools who will just put you on whatever they have.
You can even try stuff that really is too small for you... if you really want.
Did my Mod 1 on an MT-09.
Did my Mod 2 on a Speed Triple, in the rain and passed.
Motorbike riding is one of the most obviously risky things you can learn to do and Sean and his team take an approach that nobody else does. The results really do show.
Thanks, Sean.

Sean is an excellent instructor backed up by a knowledgeable and friendly team. Essentially they helped transform me from a ragged novice 125 rider always in a rush to one that can calmly handle much larger machines in a variety of situations safely.
The range of bikes is good, track time at Mallory on day 1 is a fantastic way to get used to the power and handling of a motorcycle.
For me the intensive week's course was a very good balance in terms of classroom time, handling skills and different types of riding.
There were plenty of laughs along the way but you rightly are often reminded of the need to remain serious and focused when faced with the task of keeping yourself and others safe on the road, which Sean is excellent at teaching you to do.
Thanks again Sean, Dave (Derek) and Mo for all your help and advice. Expect photos of my soon to be purchased Street Triple soon 😊

CBT is a great place to learn to drive - being able to build confidence with the basics on the track before hitting public roads was invaluable to me. Once you've tried it you realise that an hour on the track is worth ten times that on the road with no distractions or worry about other road users. Sean is a brilliant teacher, patient and rigorous whilst still keeping things friendly and fun. He genuinely inspires confidence and builds it in you as you learn which if you've ever had to teach anything yourself you'll know is quite a rare skill to have. I really appreciated the focus was not just on how to pass a driving test but how to be a safe driver once you've got your licence. Whilst I was primarily in the car with Sean it was clear there's a great atmosphere with the bike side of things with similarly happy customers. A first rate setup, thanks Sean and team.

Thank you again for taking me through the 4 Day Direct Access course last week, it's amazing to think in just a few days I could have got to grips with the bike so well, without ever having sat on one in earnest before. The course was really well broken down, with the two days on the track first, and the road riding the next two days.
Even on the quick ride back to the track on Day 4 I could tell the skills from the track had translated to the road and made handling the bike that much more efficient, fun and safe.
The book 'Pass the Bike Test' should be mandatory reading, before and during the Direct Access course, such is the wisdom inside.
I heard of you from a personal recommendation, and I'll be passing it on to aspiring riders in the future also, a really top experience. I look forward to a track day sometime, hopefully up at Mallory Park.

Circuit based training is a brilliant place to learn how to ride a motorbike, Sean and his guys are great and teach you in such a way you don't forget! Starting on the track is good as you get to learn how a bike works from the get go, how it feels and sounds to ride...then they teach you the finesse of how to control the bike in a safe way.
These guys are the best and I would recommend to anyone who is looking to learn how to ride a motorbike that you go to Circuit based training.
Thanks Sean, Mo, Cassie, Tony and Dave :)

I came to Mallory for the 5 day Motorcycle DAS after reading Sean's book & with no experience except a CBT from a London school.
Over the 5 days the tuition was excellent - normally 2-1 or 1-1 with tutors combining to give different viewpoints and techniques. Instructors were careful to build each student's individual confidence and understood that people learnt in different ways and at different speeds. We were not rushed and we asked questions whenever we wished.
Beyond the excellent instructors, the two days on the track are the clear advantages of Sean's programme. The track allows the student to practice by concentrating on a limited number of skills at one time (eg. balance, steering, body position) without the distractions of a road ride (eg. other vehicles, hazards, traffic systems). This means they can teach and practice skills not often covered at other schools but essential for everyday riding - countersteering, braking & emergency stopping in corners, swerving at higher speeds. All of these are fitted into a learning curve that is comfortable and fun, instructors are very good at supporting your learning, particularly when something is found to be difficult. Students often ride pillion to experience the acceleration, braking or cornering forces - a fantastic way to improve.
I cannot imagine developing these skills as quickly or safely without a track, it creates a confidence in your abilities that is a great start to motorcycling. I would recommend this type of track based learning to all new riders & Sean's programme is the perfect archetype.
Equipment and bikes were supplied in good condition. On occasion when a bike was dropped this was treated as part of the learning process and parts were mended or replaced without complaint or chastisement. Large cylinder bikes and sports bikes were available to further the experience on the track. We also visited the Mod1 test centre the day before examination to allay pre-test nerves.
I passed both modules first time round and must thank Sean, Dave and Tony for the excellent preparation, support and fun.
Some minor quibbles mostly to do with information on the website - there are a few extra costs that were not clear when booking, this includes petrol & a fee to take you to the test centres for both modules. The track is only guaranteed for the first day as it is occasionally booked for other events outside of the school’s control. But none of these would take away from my complete endorsement and I would recommend this school to everyone.
Sean and his team have a genuine desire to improve motorcycle training across the UK and I wish them good luck with the campaign to better the curriculum. This is a school that truly leads by example. Thank you CBT Mallory!

I picked Circuit Based Training due to the positive feedback on the website. I was a motorcycling novice and wanted an intensive course so I booked a 5-day course.
During the 4 days prior to the test, I was taught all elements of the CBT in extensive classroom and practical on track and road sessions, culminating in a 4-hour road ride. A module 1 course was laid out and I continually practiced each of the elements throughout the course. The braking and swerve test were practiced at higher speeds than required measured with a speed trap.
I visited the test centre the day before and watched another test in preparation. I relaxed as soon as I started the bike, took my time and completed all elements first time and passed. I felt relieved and looked forward to module 2. I then went on to pass module 2.
Looking back, the way I was taught made the difference. Sean and Dave’s focus on my riding, the attention to detail, the many hours of condensed practice and the philosophy of teaching me how to ride safely rather than how to pass a test provided the best preparation for the tests.
I have since been back for two further courses. Advanced Cornering was superb as it really makes you understand how the bike handles and what you can do – I never thought I’d be able to emergency brake mid corner!. The last course I attended was a Knee down course that was great fun! Once again, many thanks to Sean and Dave – Ill be back for more!
I’d also recommend the book – Pass the Bike Test – which aims to help produce safer more knowledgeable riders
D. W.
I attended the 'knee down course' at Mallory park where Circuit based training are located at the end of april. Sean is very knowledgeable and his delivery is very enthusiastic funny and knowledgeable. A bit of classroom work 30-40 mins and then the next few hrs we were out on the tarmac. You arent left to just go round and round after the lecture. There were 4 people on the course and one instructor, but it felt like a one to one session. Constant guidance and support at all times. Well worth doing and worth the money. Not only did i get my knees down i feel a lot more confident leaning the bike right over. Im sure i will be back.

Incredibly fun 4 days culminating in a pass of mod 1 & 2 on a Yamaha MT-09. Sean is a great guy a runs an awesome operation. Dave is one of the funniest guys I've ever met. Cassie was a lot of fun to work with and is very knowledgeable.
Circuit Based Training (CBT) teaches advanced skills and challenges you to get the most out of the bikes. Then when eventually you come to take your test, the exercises seem very easy because you only need to perform them at lower speeds. Many clients travelled for several hours to train at CBT which says it all. Verdict: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Just spent 4 days with these guys.
Amazing from the word go. First thing Monday morning on track and doing slow and high speed manoeuvres way above what will be needed on test. But that's their way, to teach you to be a good safe rider. Sean and the guys are all great with so much experience and humour to make sure your relaxed,
I traveled from Southampton for this course and it's so worth it, I've come away feeling so confident and reassured that there is a proper course in the UK to help people learn to ride properly, not just pass a test.
Can't thank them enough for a great week.

Circuit Based Training was a brilliant place to learn how to drive and helped me massively in passing my test. I initially had no experience with driving and very little confidence, but Sean was very patient and provided some really excellent tuition. Above all, I had a lot of fun during the 5 day course that I did, and in subsequent lessons I had with Sean.

I've just finished a four day course with Sean resulting in first time passes for both mod 1 and 2. It was such an excellent practical and informative experience from start to finish.
The first two days of track work allow you to become comfortable with motorcycle control in a safe environment without the pressure of idiotic road users. During both days on track through various exercises and pillion rides you begin to grasp just how stable a correctly handled bike can and should feel.
We undertook single handed 50 mph cornering to reinforce how counter-steering works and later moved on to more road focused cornering exercises. Once confidence in the bike's ability and our own ability was sufficient, Sean moved us onto high speed emergency braking and fast swerve manoeuvres. It was great to practice the correct braking technique and counter steering skills we'd practised before in a more focused and higher speed environment.
The two days on track were brilliant fun, you genuinely can't have more fun with your trousers on. There's no time pressure or traffic and you're given the freedom to explore your own limits as quickly or as slowly as you like. We only chased technique, not speed. I became a complete hooligan but there's no pressure to be one so you can be as relaxed as you want. It was great to be able to go at your own pace.
All the track work is fully backed up with excellent classroom tuition. We ran through the technical aspects of cornering and technique in a great amount of detail. In addition to this, Sean ran though his principles and priorities regarding road behaviour and most importantly explained his approach to road riding. I read many articles in the magazines about road positioning and technique before the course thinking I was preparing correctly but Sean makes you realise a lot of it is bollocks. He allows you to recognise that the emphasis placed on road positioning and corner sighting is far too great and that grip is number one on a bike.
For the two days you're on the road. Sean continued to provide great instruction with the same relaxed, friendly and encouraging approach he'd had on track. At that point you know how to handle a bike, it's just a case of building confidence on road and learning how to deal with all the unpredictable tossers when you're not in the bubble of a car. Sean also talked us through how he'd approach various road situations, building on the classroom lessons about the correct attitude to road riding.
I was also given the opportunity to try the range of bikes on offer at cbt. I started on the 650 bandit s for the initial track work, then jumped on Sean's Yamaha r1 and 1250 bandits for the road work. It was great to expirence how different liter bikes are to 600s and to dismiss the utter rubbish that new riders shouldn't ride them.
All in all I can't recommend the course enough. The structure of the course and the unique oportunity to learn big bike handling on track,
combined with great instruction makes it an absolutely epic week.
I'll definitely be heading back for the two day advanced cornering course once I've bought myself a proper bike.

Just completed the 5 day Direct Access course at CBT.
Absolutely fantastic course with great classroom tuition, and fun track excersises.
Sean, Dave & Cassie are excellent trainers with a wealth of knowledge and humour between them.
Passed both modules with flying colours, but this scheme isn’t just about gaining a license, but about staying alive and enjoying a bike safely.
Thanks again guys, see you in the future!

I would most definitely recommend motorcycle training at CBT Mallory Park. Sean and the team are the best at what they do. You will be part of a small group but you are also treated as an individual. The training and coaching is tailored to your needs and it’s delivered in a fun and friendly yet professional manner. Initially I was impressed with the information on the website, then I purchased a copy of Sean Hayes book “Pass the Bike Test” and be a great rider too. This led to booking a place with CBT. I thoroughly enjoyed my training course at Mallory Park which culminated in passing my bike test. Choosing the right training school meant a lot to me. I was a brand new learner rider and wanted to feel safe. I’d previously had a bad experience at another training school elsewhere.
Living near Manchester and before going to Mallory Park I attended a local Bike training school. I was appalled at the way the instructors spoke to students, the patronising style of delivery and they were more bothered about the bike than the person. They keep you on a small bike and use intimidation tactics to scam you into booking more lessons than you need before moving to a larger bike. My gut feeling was telling me not to trust them and go elsewhere, that’s when I chose Sean Hayes and his team.
On day one Sean took us under his wing and you’re sat on a big bike straight away on the race track. The progress was astounding, my confidence grew and grew. At age 58 and never had any previous motorcycle experience, this was a personal challenge that I really wanted to succeed in. I can honestly say Sean and his team were fantastic for me and I’m so glad I chose to stay near Leicester for a week in a hotel and commit to training with this 5 star training school. All in all Mallory Park was a fab experience and I love riding my new bike, a Honda CB1100rs.

Great team and Sean is a very fair man as well as a charismatic teacher. I went the only week ever where there was an issue with the track that meant we couldn't get on - and since one of the key elements of the first few days is the track work Sean has rearranged the whole week which is very fair. I'm looking forward to the week hugely after the taste I did have of the work the team do there.

Massive thanks to all the instructers for their hard work. Happy to have passed my motorcycle tests in 5 days, went from inching forward on day 1 to confidently solo riding my way home from Nottingham test centre after passing in the rain and wind.
All the instructers take the time to explain, demonstrate and guide you through not just areas covered on the test but areas that make you a safer rider.

Dear Sean and Dave,
I have wanted for years to ride a motorbike and this year I decided to go ahead and get the license. I enrolled in the 4 day DAS and passed on the first attempt. I can't think of a better place to learn than Circuit Based Training.
Sean's program have several tangible benefits that sets it apart. The use of the track is incredibly helpful, it let me learn to control the bike at full road speeds in a safe and controlled environment with no cars or roadside obstructions to worry about. Countersteering was initially counterintuitive, but having it clearly explained and then tried over and over at speed through the corners of the track let it all make sense and become second nature. Now I am left wondering how do you corner effectively without knowing how to countersteer. Riding pillion at speed was also incredibly helpful, it let me have some idea of what the bikes and grip are capable of, way beyond what I would put it through. Emergency braking in a corner could have been intimidating, but the way it was taught made it into a really fun session. Sean first demonstrated exactly what is wrong with regular braking in corners, how the bike will stand up and go straight into incoming traffic lane or off the road. Then demonstrating proper technique, always clearly explaining what he was doing and why. As it was my turn to practice, I started at slow speed and repeated at higher and higher speed until reaching full motorway speeds, and I was literally having a blast coming hard to a stop in mid corner while sticking to the line with no drama at all. All of the above really made for fun and exciting times, I thoroughly enjoyed the days.
As a bonus, I was allowed to rip around the track on the Aprilia RSV 1000, can't think of many other schools where I could do that!
Taking the test on the 4th day, I felt well prepared and although a bit nervous (of course), passed both MOD 1 and 2 with flying colours and rode back to Mallory with my fresh bike license in my pocket.
Went home and bought a Ducati Monster 1200 S as my first bike and am having a blast!
I recommend Circuit Based Training to anyone who wants to learn to ride - quality equipment, top teachers, real riding skills, hugely beneficial race track. A massive thanks to everyone at CBT!
Cheers
Eivind

I can't really do justice to the excellence and professionalism offered by this great training. Sean and his team are 1st class and provide what should be the standard of motorcycle training everywhere. I hope my riding will be as good and as safe as the training provided. Great people, great service and a great place to learn. Thanks.
J. F.
Absolutely fantastic week. Great bunch of guys. I booked the 4 day DAS course with fairly limited bike experience (only driving an old skool Vespa)
In just 3 and a half days of intensive riding around a race track, slow manoeuvres and on the road practice I had passed both my MOD 1 test and the 2nd test on the same day by 2pm in Burton.
I commuted from St Albans every day to Leicester which took around 1 and a half hours (80 miles) but it was well worth it! There are a couple of hotels literally a few minutes walk away if you live further afield.
Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to pass there bike test.
Sean, Sam and Dave are a credit to this company.
J. T.
As a member of the Armed Forces (for almost 30 years) I have been an instructor and student on more courses than I care to remember. I can honestly say that the course delivered by Sean and the team was one of the best I have attended. The content was clear, concise and delivered in a manner that took account of all learning styles. The balance between theoretical and practical elements is essential on a skills based course. While there is often a desire to get straight on the bikes, banked over at 70mph, on a tight right hander, as a tractor appears straddling the centre line is not the time to realise you don’t quite understand how bike, rider and environment interact. Cornering is not an advanced skill, it is a life saving fundamental that needs to be mastered by novices, intermediate and advanced riders alike. Whether you are a blue sky summer time tourer or an all year daily commuter this course is absolutely essential and should underpin all further training. Be prepared to challenge what you think you know about riding and dispel some long held beliefs. I cannot recommend Sean and the guys at Circuit Based Training highly enough. Many thanks for a truly awesome week, still smiling!!!!

After a 5 day course at Mallory Park Circuit Based Training, thanks to Sean Hayes and Solihull Dave for their superb training making me a confident and more importantly, a safe rider. A great week full of fun and top training on how to handle a big bike (1250cc). It has given me the confidence and ability to hopefully enjoy many years of riding bikes. Signing off, Chubby Brown

Very Pleased with Training offered at Mallory Park. I felt that Sean and Dave were excellent trainers who took their time to teach and had lots of patience. I decided to book with them after my displeasure with a motorcylce training school in South East London. I had attempted the Mod1 test 3 times without passing in London, but Sean and Dave taught me cornering and counter-steering which gave me the confidence of passing. I was amased that the London school had not not taught me the basics. Thank you Sean and Dave for your input- it made everything easy.
I also very much liked their book (Pass the Bike Test) aimed at producing safe riders. I do nt usually read books, but I managed to finish your book in one night.
My advise to all leaners is that take your time and make sure that you do not rush to pass. Do not make the mistake of buying the bike before passing as this can only put pressure on you.

I attended a 5 day course starting Monday 9th October 2017 and I am delighted to say I passed and now have a full motorcycle licence. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and researched extensively before choosing CBT at Mallory Park. The course is not cheap but "cheap no good, good no cheap" 100% applies to this course!! I learned how to counter steer with one hand behind my back, leaning over at what seemed an impossible angle on a 1200cc bike dragging my toe on the tarmac by the end of day one!!! If you do not know what counter steering is and you ride a motorbike then get to Mallory for a cornering course SHARPISH. Tony, Mo and Sean are fantastic teachers with barrow loads of patience. They inspire you to do well and improve your skills day by day to a level way in advance of that required just to pass your test. The time on the race track is, in my opinion, absolutely essential and makes you a confident rider without the risks of being on the road. I cannot emphasise how important it is to the training to have this life saving time in a controlled environment. I can now brake with confidence on a bend at 60mph and more importantly do so keeping the line I have chosen - not the line the bike chooses. I have often heard that bikers have "run out of road" and initially that happened to all of us with one of the 4 pupils spending more time on the soft grass that surrounds Mallory than on the tarmac. By the end of day one his "cross country adventures" were a thing of the past. If this had been taught on the rode he would be dead, no doubt about it. My mission was to learn to be safe and to pass the test. I now feel confident in handling a big bike and have had tips from both the Police motorbike rider instructors to build on the skills I have to become even more safe. I honestly believe that EVERY rider should have to learn to ride to this standard before being allowed on the road! The two instructors I spent time with, Mo and Tony put their lives on the line for the public every day of their working lives and have to deal with all the idiots riding and driving to a woeful standard all day long. The knowledge bank they have is HUGE and it was worth every penny of the fee just to tap into their experience. In my opinion the course was fantastic value for money and I would happily pay more. My aim is to progress to advanced rider level so that in the event I meet an idiot on the roads I have the time, skill and ability to get the bike to come to a quick safe stop on the line I want it to take. I am 100% confident that these guys have the ability to get me there. I will be back to Mallory after developing my skills in accordance with the advice given. One last thing if you are thinking about booking a course "JUST DO IT AND DO IT WITH CBT" at Mallory Park.

Kneedown course 29/4/19, highly recommended! I went into the day doubting myself and have come out inspired and lots more confident on the bike. The instructor was brilliant at explaining everything and bit by bit it all came together and the knee down goal was achieved fairly early on.
Mallory park is a fantastic venue and CBT really know their stuff

Just finished a 5 day DAC with Sean and Sam, passing first time ! EVERY piece of information and examples given, when practiced, were accurate and given with safety at the forefront of it. We weren't allowed onto the roads until everyone felt safe and were deemed safe by the guys, which was reassuring considering we are our own crumple zones after all ! The facilities were perfect and the ability to use the track to get used to the bike and work on clutch control and braking was invaluable. I could go on and on but all I can say is, if you're looking for the best riding school for either passing your test or a good old knees down session then look no further (I looked and visited a lot of "schools" and none even touch this company). Top blokes, top company and above all top instructors. Go and purchase "Pass the Bike Test (and be a great rider too)" and you will realise this is the place for learning to ride.
P.S. The "David Bassou" U-Turn area was a massive help in me executing mine perfectly !

Having never ridden a motorbike before I was looking for a training school that would offer a safe environment to learn in before hitting the road – that’s when I discovered Circuit Based Training at Mallory Park. Having spoken to Sean on the phone, I was left with the feeling that here was an instructor that was not only passionate about what he did but clearly valued the safety of his clients over anything else. This was all I needed to seal the deal and I promptly booked onto a five day direct access course.
On day one of the course I was introduced to my instructors, Matt and Ollie, and was made to feel at ease straight away. After a quick overview of what the course would entail I was kitted out with everything I’d need to get me through the next five days. Once kitted it was time to hit the track and start learning how to ride. Both Matt and Ollie were extremely knowledgeable and it was great to hear their real life experiences which helped to put certain elements I was taught into perspective. On top of their knowledge, they were also incredibly patient and more importantly very encouraging – so much so that by the end of the first day I was riding around the track fairly comfortably.
On day two I dropped the bike! I was livid – I was absolutely fine but to be fair I was more concerned about the bike. The guys were fantastic – I didn’t get the telling off I was expecting. In fact it was the opposite – the beauty of CBT at Mallory is that if you drop the bike it doesn’t matter – the prime concern is the client’s wellbeing. After a quick change of wing mirror I was back on the bike and back to training. By the end of the day I was counter steering round corners at 50 mph – not bad for day two of riding a bike!
Day three involved my first road ride. As well as Matt and Ollie, we were joined by Dave who is a character to say the least. Before setting off, we were all radioed up so we could receive instruction along the way and then it was onto the road. We rode to test centre in Wigston where we practiced for our Module 1 test on an actual Module 1 test pad. This was great as it really prepared me for what I would have to do on day four for the real thing.
Day four started with some practice in the car park at Mallory before hitting the road to go to the test centre in Burton. Once there, I was greeted with the familiar sight of the Module 1 test pad. I’m glad to say I passed the test and after a brief celebration with the instructors it was back on the road to Mallory. Once back at Mallory we had a de-brief and discussed the Module 2 test that I would take the next day.
Day five was test day. We all rode out to the test centre in Kettering allowing me to put everything I’d learned throughout the week into practice. Unfortunately I didn’t pass but I wasn’t too distraught – from never having ridden before, I had just ridden to Kettering and back, I was safe and frankly I enjoyed every minute of it. After having a de-brief of the test I booked in for a re-test ten days later and passed with only three minors!
Ollie, Matt, Dave, Tony and Sean – you guys were great – your knowledge and patience were invaluable. I can’t recommend this course enough!

I don't normally bother with reviews but I had to after doing the knee down course today. Sean & Cassie are great tutors & gave all the training info I needed at the same time keeping it friendly & relaxed. The track time is just right, knee down, knackered & very happy.
Thanks for a great course 👍👍

Great people, great educators and a great experience all round.

I have just got back from a glorious couple of weeks at CBT. I spent a year building up to doing my DAS course, I did a LOT of research into various schools around the country. I wanted to make sure that the place I went to would focus on making me a competent, safe, confident rider; rather than just get me through a couple of tests.
CBT is exactly what I was looking for. Sean, Cassie and Dave are genuinely superb instructors. No egos, no BS, no patronising and no putting you in situations you're really not ready for. Cassie in particular, has the patience of several saints (sorry for giving you a couple of near heart attacks Cassie!! :) ) The combination of the instructors and the use of the track environment, as well as the range of bikes to choose from, is absolutely spot on for everyone from a nervous newbie (like me) to experienced riders who need their skills polishing. Everything about CBT is geared towards giving the clients the best possible experience of riding and making you into the best rider you can be.
It took me 9 days to get my tests (I failed Mod 1 first time...nerves went! It was calamitous!) When I did get them though - I passed Mod 1 with no faults at all and Mod 2 with 4 minors. Much more importantly, I went from being unable to balance a 675 Triumph for much more than a few minutes on a near empty track, to riding a Honda CBF 1000, in light rain, howling crosswinds (45mph+!) on a busy dual carriageway and being completely fine with it. (Ok maybe not "completely"...high winds are not fun!)
This was worth every single penny and more. I cannot thank Cassie, Sean and Dave enough for their patience, insight, knowledge, humour and for helping me achieve a dream of getting out on my own Triumph Street Triple 765 (which I'll do shortly...like in the next couple of hours!!) You've made an old man very happy.
I will be going back for some advanced training - which says it all really. If you're thinking about getting on a bike and you want to *really* learn how to do it - go here. Seriously. Do it. Now. :)
Are there any cons? It's a bit out of the way...but there's a decent hotel nearby. It costs a fair bit....but for what you get it's a bargain. SO basically...no. Except maybe the "posh coffee". Which isn't :D

Excellent training team we started on the main track and quickly progressed to the road. I did the 5 day course which goes at a good pace (I hadn’t been on a motorbike for over 30 years) and I passed both mod1 and 2 by the end of the week. My New MV-Augusta Brutale 1090 arrives tomorrow 😀👍. Stay safe.

Dear Sean & Dave,
Well what can I say, but a huge thank you to the both of you in helping me achieve my goal of attaining my full motorbike license last week!!
Sean, when I rung you about a month ago, and we spoke for a good half hour, it was clear to me, that I had chosen the best school to get my license. After getting off the phone, I felt great in knowing that I had all the information I needed, to feel good about coming up to Mallory to get on that track.
As previously doing a DAS course elsewhere, and failing Module 1, this was on my mind a lot, so a lot of research and making the right decision had to be done. Reading your book, "Pass the bike test", had helped a lot, after realising that counter steering like many other things wasn't even covered in the last school that I went to. I mean how can you expect a rider of a 650cc bike to take a large corner at 50mph without knowing how to countersteer?
On the 1st day, that's exactly what we did, counter steering around the 1st bend of Mallory track! There is no way in the world that I would have expected to go around that bend fast, counter steering and to top it off, having my left arm behind my back. Was absolutely priceless! Loved every second of it.
The fact of practicing braking at high speeds around the corner of the track, using counter-steering, has given me the confidence to appreciate long winding roads, I look forward to take in the future!!
Being at your school, we had plenty of time, to practice our emergency stops, and hazard avoidance at a lot faster than 31 mph, the minimum speed required, which gave me the extra boost in what I needed to pass.
The figure 8's and u-turn seem quite easy, and are actually easy, when you have been taught properly, but until you have actually done them over and over, it aint easy. The last school, which I wont mention, got me to practice on a public road, half an hour before the test, using the dotted lines on the road. Such a waste of time. But at Circuit Based Training, there were only 4 of us in our group, and 2 sets of cones were set up for u-turns and figure 8's, which was great, because it was safe, supervised at all times and we never had to waste any time in waiting. To top it off, I got to go pillion passenger with Sean, who showed me his way and explained step by step, giving a few pointers on the way. I was also shown 2 different ways of doing u-turns, which today, it helps me in various situations on the road. We were also shown another way of balance, by riding up our front wheel to 2 cones spaced out and trying to hold it there without moving and no feet on the ground. This was fun as we found out it was easier if you rode faster, then slowed down at the last minute. The momentum and energy you had, was yours to use for balance.
Dave, what a great teacher you are. So patient yet so assertive, learnt quite a bit from you. "Donald, Duck" I will never forget this. You are an absolute asset to the school, and I look forward to doing some advanced courses with you guys again.
All in all, safety came first, and this aspect of riding a bike will stay in me forever, as both of you have drilled it into us.
Please do email me with any advanced courses coming up.
Take care and all the best.
Stay in touch.
Best regards,
Joseph De Maria

I did the knee down course with Sean...... Due to clear and fun training my bike control has improved significantly in half a day (managed to get both knees down). Great day out, highly recommend!

I've just completed my direct access course and passed my tests in 4 days with CBT. The circuit sessions and time spent on the road, along with Sean's passion and techniques made a huge contribution to the development of my riding skills in a very short time.

Absoloutly brilliant!
These guys dont mess about, you spend time in the classroom learning the theory then its out on the track... There is no hanging about, just real experts teaching you how to ride with a ton of knowledge!!!
Best two days riding ever and im a better rider for it!

Excellent course, very well delivered taking a non rider from theory to track to road at a sensible pace. Enough focus on the Module 1 elements to pass but more emphasis on real life riding at real life speeds to make sure the rider is safe as well as qualified. Definitely recommended.
S. M.
Sean and Sam you have taught me so much more than just the ability to pass my bike test, but to be a confident and safe motorcyclist. The ability to practice on the track is invaluable and i can't recommend you enough. Thank You.

'Simply the best'. Patience and humour in a relaxed but rigorous environment, one can make mistakes where it doesn't matter- on an empty racetrack. A highly experienced and professional team which works like a family.

Learnt a lot in my time training - definitely the best way to learn to drive. The 5 day intensive driving course was definitely worth the money.
