After 1 year of a 3 year course, I can say that the online Post Graduate Diploma course seems to be great value for money. The assignments are well thought out and really test your ability at working with a brief.

I have undertaken the full Hons Degree BAPH has to offer and right from the onset I can see that this is a comprehensive way towards a future in getting better at photography from a practical and theory stand point. My experience is that of in class learning and the tutors are fantastic, share loads of anecdotal examples and encourage the use of the camera in each class.
This course might not be for those just looking to improve their photography skills in general as there is essay writing and research work involved even if you are doing the diploma or any of the HC/HND level of the course. This is a complete package where you actually studio photography as a discipline and use the historical precedent and practices to then accurately critique and improve your own work. There is a fair bit of reading of journals, papers and articles involved. So do not expect to just be told some camera hacks like a youtube video to "improve your skills in 10 easy steps" style of environment. This is a genuine and fully equipped qualification which will push you forward mentally within the world of photography. It is absolutely right up my street.
The online tutor who marks the assignments are quick in answering questions and marking assignments. Feedback is good and with this being an arts degree, there is a lot of subjectivity in feedback and opinions but that is par for the course.
I have made some good connections with my peers in my class group and we are talking to each other on social media and looking out for each others work. We look forward to the end of class photo sharing session where the tutor brings up the photos we may have taken during classes or in between classes in our own time to critique them and improve on them.
The assignments do require time and effort, however to me its enjoyable as I learn about new photographers, the history of how certain techniques or technology came about and how I can implement it in my practice.
I'm very pleased I signed up to the course through BAPH and look forward to the next sessions.

BAPH offered a good variety of courses, but It was the one-year course Post Grad Diploma, with a recognised accredited qualification that interested me the most. The syllabus looked really varied, stretching but with a logical flow and included the history of photography which I had never studied before.
The opportunity to study fairly close to home with fortnightly face to face classes in Salford and the ability to receive hands on support via an experienced Photographer/Tutor was a really key part of my decision making, plus the ability to share knowledge, best practice and learn with other students was really appealing and the main selling points
I look back with a huge sense of pride and satisfaction, my knowledge, skills, planning and ideas are so much better now than they were before I started. I’d like to think my pictures are better too!
I would certainly recommend the Post Grad Dip to friends or other students looking to gain a professional photography qualification, so many new skills to learn, to support future opportunities in the field of Photography

Since I started studying at BAPH it’s has really been a great adventure; the course is well designed and very versatile. You really feel that you are not only advancing your technical skills, but actually studying art with all challenges and discoveries it carries. The assignments are tough, but just enough to make you focus on them and make your work enjoyable.
BAPH’s tutors are certainly one of The Academy’s biggest strengths; very professional, very approachable, extremely helpful and very fast in responding to any questions or struggles you might face.Their feedback is thorough and they will really go an extra mile to help you achieve your goals. All my interactions with my tutor and with other tutors have always been amazing.
If I were to point at any weaknesses of the course, for me that would be a pretty narrow coverage of retouching and photo- editing. However, when I pointed this to student liaisons and my tutor, they provided me with enough support on the editing front, but also listened to my ideas on how this could be improved in the future.
Turning a hobby into profession is both time consuming and very challenging, so it’s important to choose who you will do it with well. If photography is your passion, I’d definitely recommend you give it a “real” try with BAPH.

The HND at the BAPH covers a wide range of photography genres, with challenging assignments for all of them. The tutors are supportive and keep pushing your boundaries throughout the course and on the assignment's feedback and are always available for extra support when needed.
There are studio days organized by the academy and although these could occur more often, they provide valuable experience with a wide range of equipment.

Great course with a combination of academic and practical work. I would not underestimate the amount of work for the assignments but they are a great way to learn and challenge your knowledge and skills. Tutors are experienced, passionate and enthusiastic. I would recommend the course.

I have thoroughly enjoyed studying with the British Academy of Photography. They provide the right mix of study aids, tutoring and time to achieve a qualification at home in your own time.
I've learnt so much since taking on this course and my photography has gone from strength to strength.
Whether looking for a casual introduction or a qualification, I highly recommend them.

The courses are well structured and challenging but also very enjoyable for anyone interested in increasing their knowledge of photography and wanting to be a photographer. One learns to see differently and understand a new language. I have found everyone at the BAP very helpful.
