Reviews of Carlson Gracie London

Jonathan Villada is an excellent teacher, to be honest they all are and they take the time during classes to help and improve your skills. I am glad I joined.

No nonsense, no egos, no frills, no compromises — absolutely one of the best (if not the best) fight academies in the UK.

Been training here for about a month as a BJJ white belt. So far excellent experience. General atmosphere is very friendly, informal but focused and everyone is there to help. No bad attitude from senior grades/belts towards white belts/beginners - without fail every time I've worked with a more experienced practitioner they've given me feedback/tips.
Real beginners should make sure they attend the Monday/Thursday Beginner Class but also welcome at the other sessions if you wish (although they go a lot faster and are more technical).
Judo class on Saturday with Glenn also recommended.
Currently upgrading the gym area - plans look great from what I've seen.

Amazing gym with fantastic instructors and great students. Trained for some years at another club up North and was always told Carlson's London was a top gym. When I went I was made welcomed by the instructors and students alike. If you want to learn or improve your BJJ then this gym should be at the top of your list.

Best BJJ gym I have attended!
I've been to several BJJ gyms in London and a few in Sweden, but Carlson Gracie London has by far the best set up and coaching.
But as with everything in life you need the right attitude to be successful. Perhaps this is not the gym for you if you expect a 5 star hotel facility and a zagat rated bar. - If you do however want to become really good at BJJ and spar with people that will let you know if your techniques really work, this is the place!

Fantastic place to train in London. Simply one of the best. This is not a corporate gym, it has a family feel to it and has world class athletes and facilities available to all students. Whether you're a hobbyist, a competitor, or someone simply looking to get fit, look no further. Carlson Gracie London is the real deal.

I started training here roughly a year ago and didn't feel the need to even try other gyms. Both the instructors and other students are very welcoming to newcomers, making sure they feel a part of the club from the very beginning of their Jiu Jitsu experience at Carlson Gracie. All the classes offered are comprised in the monthly fee. It will be very easy to enjoy training here, regardless of previous martial arts experience.

This is one of the most successful bjj clubs in the UK. I have been training here for 5 years. The instructors are all professionals and there is great atmosphere and camaraderie. Fantastic place to train!

I flew into London and had a long layover. Got on the tube and headed to the 8am class.
Great group of Jiu Jitsu practitioners!
Coach Jason created a welcoming environment.
Thanks!

A very professional and welcoming environment. I have been training BJJ there over 6 years now and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Training is tough (in a good way) however safety is paramount for the club so at no stage have I ever felt that I have been in any danger or situations that could have led to injury. The also do yoga, strength and conditioning, Muay Thai and MMA so it has all your bases covered whether you want to just get fit or you're keen to learn a martial art. 5 Stars!

Carlsons is a great place to train, friendly atmosphere and hard training. Incredible top level instructors with countless accolades between them. Lots of classes to choose from including beginner focused classes if you're just starting out. Come train!

Great club and excellent for beginners. All of my fundamentals were explained and taught from white to blue. The advanced programme is extremely challenging. All classes are great and great facilities with other martial arts and weights outside it.

One word - HOME. I was first attracted by the traditional reputation that Carlson's schools had for a heavy top pressure focussed MMA/self-defense-relevant game with lots of hard sparring, and the depth and variety of the timetable which includes lots of nogi and wrestling. I found all of that but also much more including a perfectly structured beginners program that takes white belts gradually through the fundamentals (including self-defense) and an amazing atmosphere. It's informal but serious, tough but fun and friendly. The instructors give you the support to make your training whatever you want, whether that's a bit of fitness and a social hangout with cool people, or international competitor who's hitting the strength & conditioning & needs to roll every day with a variety of black belts.

Amazing place to train! Incredible instructors, friendly training partners and all around a great atmosphere to train in!

Popped into the Thursday 7:30pm session and was lead by Sam (Black belt EU champ) which was awesome. Really welcoming and good intensity. The better of the three gyms I've tried (fight factory, roger gracie and CG) - much preferred the longer 1h30 sessions too.

Have tried out a few BJJ clubs in London and have settled on Carlson's as a permanent choice. There is great instruction, tough training and a welcoming atmosphere.
There is a nice mix of those who are training as a hobby a few times a week, and those who are serious about BJJ competition and the lifestyle.
The best thing is that the people involved in the club truly care about UK BJJ and the integrity of BJJ. You will get the real deal here.

Training about 4 months here now and felt very welcomed from the beginning. I've learned so much in a short space of time and would highly recommend CG London to anyone, including people with absolutely no experience in any martial art like myself. Many training options available also not just BJJ. 👍🏻

Amazing place to train. High quality training partners and inspirational instructors who constantly develop their teaching practice to get the most out of their students. It's great to have so many women to train with too.

Great place with great people. The best place to learn bjj in London.

I dropped in for a Saturday morning class and felt very welcome. Big locker room with showers and a good sized class from white to black belts. Well organized but laid back.
P. S.
My breakdown:-
Location: On site car parking facilities, 5+ min walk from Hammersmith or 10+ mins most likey, depending on how hard you decided to test yourself that day!!
Facilities: Two large dojo matt areas (cleaned daily), weights & exercise machines and showers.
People: Everyone from the receptionist (a brown belt no less) to the highly technical monster that is head instructor Wilson Jr are simply an incredible collection of individuals. They've provided an amazing atmosphere, very supportive in preparing you for competition should you choose to go down that route and no meat heads insight...its a wonderful life after all! :)
Tip: First timers should go to the Thursday evenings beginners class which is FREE! Simon Hayes who usually teaches this, has a way of easing you into the beautiful world of BJJ. During this class some 12 months ago I found him (Simon) to be an incredibly articulate and accomplished practitioner, teaching you not only how to apply the technique(s) correctly but as equally as important why we do them. This I feel is what sets itself apart from every other school, which explains why its so highly regarded. Can you say that you get taught and train with someone like Dickie a current (2015) world ranked number 1 senior masters! too name but a few of the competition winners who regularly teach and train there.
Summary: Its a great environment, the knowledge and expertise is there in abundance. Without sounding like a cliche, BJJ has changed me for the better...Thank you Carlson Gracie...OSS!

Pure, pedigree, no-nonsense Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with 3 expert and passionate head instructors and countless up-and-coming, world-class athletes. The academy also has 2 massive mat areas, a well-stocked gym section and a round-the-clock training schedule. Need I say more?
