Studying at Delamar Academy is the best decision I could have made. I recently finished the Period Wigs course and it is amazing how much you can learn in just one week. The academy has the best make-up artists and hairstylist in the industry. It is also a great platform to start or advance your career. They help you understand the industry and connect you so you can develop professionally. If you are already a hair and make-up artist and are looking to improve your skills or if you are a beginner, this is the best place to start. I highly recommend Delamar Academy.

When I started searching for a place to study hair and makeup, it was really important for me that the tutors were industry professionals who could pass on up to date industry knowledge and also to find a ‘family’ like environment where everyone is supporting you to be the best you can be and that place is Delamar. My experience has been second to none and without doubt the best decision I ever made. Taking the plunge and investing in yourself and your career can be a super scary prospect, but also the most rewarding, and I’m so glad I choose Delamar. Choosing to go to Delamar was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I took the 22 week course and was taught by some of the best makeup artists and hair stylists in the industry who give you a better understanding of what the industry is like. From the few months I was there I've become much more confident in myself. Not only are the tutors amazing but so are the staff. Leda, Kate and Emma are very helpful and are always there if you have any questions. They help move you forward and guide you in whatever direction you want to go in as much as they can. Going to Delamar has to be the best decision I have ever made, and I can’t be anymore thankful to the amazing tutors and team for making it the best experience. You are taught by some of the best makeup artists and hair stylists in the industry who give you the most in depth training alongside giving the most insightful information about the industry itself. I have just completed the 16 week Complete Makeup Artist at Delamar. I am 29 and self funded my course so it was important to me that I was going to the best academy possible. I’m so glad I took the plunge as on the last week of the course I was offered my first makeup job on a very big budget feature film.The tuition I received was world class and provided me with the knowledge I needed to kick start a career. All of the tutors are currently working in the industry which also helps with potential contacts when looking for work, at the end of the course. I had no experience with hair and my only experience with makeup was doing my own. I felt that I was in the best hands possible as they welcome beginners with open arms and are happy to teach you from scratch. I was in a class of 14 and have made friends for life. Delamar’s courses involve a lot of hair tuition which is needed in Film & TV, which is why I recommended them over other academy’s. Their aftercare for students is also unbeatable, after graduating Leda and the staff assist you in finding work and are always their to give advice where needed. I cannot recommend a better place to study, in the heart of Ealing, near a high street, with open airy classrooms and a family feel. If you’re looking for a career change the 16 or 22 week courses are a no brainer.

I have just finished the 22 weeks Advanced Complete Makeup Artist Course at Delamar Academy and I can’t recommend it enough. I loved my time at Delamar and I would immediately choose to do this course again. It can be scary start something new, especially if you are already working in a completely different job and might be a bit „older“ which was the case for me but it was the best decision ever. Growing at Delamar is inevitable. Whether it is through learning by gaining makeup, hair or SFX skills or gaining invaluable industry advice from industry leading teachers present on the course, working closely with them before even stepping out into the industry. Since starting my course in September and finishing earlier this month, I have developed my artistic skills, made life-long friendships and acquired a better understanding of who I want to be as a makeup artist. The wide array of teachers provided by the academy give you a unique look at many of the different areas of the beauty industry as well as working styles, giving you a better opportunity of figuring out what you prefer. The fact that the longer courses such as the 16, 22 and year long ones promise to prepare you as an advanced complete artist, means they can be quite full-on as that involves a lot of knowledge of a variety of things. However the strong support system present in the academy and the fun nature of the assignments and tutors outweighs any feelings of overwhelm. I highly suggest this academy if you’re interested in pursuing this career path.

After trying to force myself to enrol to University for a stereotypically academic degree, my Mom told me to pursue what I was passionate about. Makeup artistry has always retained my interest since I was four years old. After a quick google search I found Delamar Academy. I was amazed by the experience of the tutors and how comprehensive the 1 year Cert HE course sounded. Luckily my parents supported my dream and we all took the leap of faith as I enrolled at Delamar Academy. As soon as I attended my first lesson I knew that the standard of tuition was second to none. Not only are you provided with excellent advise on practical techniques but you are also given industry knowledge that one wouldn’t find elsewhere. Even the subjects which I wasn’t so keen on at first I have gained an appreciation for. My favourite part of the course has definitely been the Advanced Fashion module and I would highly recommend it, especially being that it is run by Joanne Byrne who is truly passionate about teaching. I will be honest and say that the course is intense and you do have to work hard in order to gain the most out of it. However, if you are dedicated and focused you will achieve great results. Delamar also has an agency which assists with graduates and current students gaining work experience. Overall, after completing the one year course I have gained a skill set that I couldn’t have dreamed of having and I feel much more confident in myself.

I have recently completed the 1 Year Cert HE Professional Make Up Design course and can't recommend Delamar Academy enough. I enrolled primarily to learn Wig Dressing, interested in their 6 week Advanced Hair Course. I decided to also learn about Make Up and chose the year course as it was more convenient to pause my business for a full year than take shorter courses intermittently. I have had an amazing time learning a variety of subjects with Hair, Wigs, Make Up, Characters, Special FX and Prosthetics. I now feel equipped to change industry's and work in TV and Film though I could now also work in Theatre. Delamar has been a consistently safe space for me this year despite Covid, and I have felt privileged to walk in each morning. The staff couldn't be more supportive. With their guidance and support I have already gained Dailies work as a Hair and Make Up Trainee on a TV show.

I am from Germany and it was my dream to work as a Make-up artist since I was 14 years old. I wanted to get the best opportunity, so I went to see the academy and had a lovely chat with Leda. She answered all my question, I could get a look in some classes. I already felt welcomed. Since day 1, the school supports you. The tutors are all professionals, who working successfully in the industry, and they know what they are talking about. You get to learn everything from the best tutors. If you have any questions or worried about something, I could always go to Leda or Marcia or Kate, who helped you as much as they can. You will learn so much. In the course is included: Basic Beauty, Period Hair and Make-up, Fashion Make-up, Prosthetic, Casualty, Character Make-up, Barbering, Afro Hair and a lot more. In the one year course you have also an advance course included. Also, they will help you to find jobs afterwards, which is not take for granted. I only can recommend this academy to everyone who wants to become a Make-up artist.

I am only half way into my year course at Delamar, and have already had the incredible opportunity to be trainee on a really exciting job out in France, assisting one of the lovely and incredibly talented tutors from Delamar - Jane Maier. I graduated from the one year course in 2020, so my time there was effected by covid with the uncertainty of what would happen, Delamar was there supporting us throughout. I completed the 6 weeks advanced prosthetics and I would highly recommend it. In a sort span of time you learn so much about prosthetics in the industry and have industry professionals coming in to teach you, so all the techniques and process were up-to-date with what is being used in the industry. It was hard work and there were late nights but it was with it in the end. The aftercare at Delamar is fantastic, they have helped me get contacts in the industry and supported me after graduating. I have studied at 3 other makeup schools in the last 10 years (AOFM London, MUD New York City and Cinema Make-Up Los Angeles). Although I have nothing bad to say about any of them, Delamar is by absolute miles superior in all areas. I recently just completed my second course here. I felt extremely humbled and privileged to be taught by so many incredible active artists in the industry... Laura Solari, Wendy Topping, Adrian Rigby, Catherine Scoble to name a few. The academy is extremely well equipped, organised and cleanly. Leda, Marcia and Kate (Administrators) are brilliantly supportive, kind and friendly. No amount of questions or tasks are ever too much for them. The atmosphere is very positive, warm and welcoming. The after support with finding you work is on its own enough reason to study here. Certainly no other school that I’ve been to or heard of offers this. A special thank you to tutor Laura for going absolutely above and beyond with educating us not only on advanced hair technics but also industry advice, kit recommendations, on set etiquette, understanding call sheets, a school trip to suppliers and more! As a current student on the 1 year course at Delamar, I have found the first term to be incredibly intense, but extremely rewarding. I have tried to immerse myself in every new area of teaching and have thoroughly enjoyed learning all the different aspects of the hair and makeup industry. Each week has been different, some areas tougher than others, but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every single moment. The tutors have been extremely informative and engaging, but more importantly It has been an absolute bonus to have been taught by the very best in the industry. The atmosphere in the class has always been fun, and I look forward to coming in every single day. I recently did basic and advanced prosthetics courses at Delamar and absolutely loved it! Our tutors were very supportive and professional. I would recommend these courses to anyone who is looking to learn prosthetics making as you learn everything from start to finish. :) I received so much support from my tutors as well as the other school staff during my course. I feel I’m in a unique position as I studied the one year course in 2017 and did half of the year before taking a deferral and returning in September of this year. As the tutors at Delamar are all top of their field and working makeup artists, I’ve had different tutors teaching me the second time around and each tutor brings their own nugget of wisdom which is literal gold dust in this industry; the time and planning they put into each lesson is evident and all criticism is constructive in an effort to train your eye to their level. Every single tutor and member of staff want all students to succeed, but you definitely get back what you put into the course. Be prepared to work hard and put your all in every day, a positive attitude is definitely something that goes far! The level of pastoral care is amazing, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for everyone on the Delamar team- all of them are approachable and have a wealth of wisdom to share if you are willing to pay attention. There are often moments where you have to pinch yourself and remind yourself that you are actually there, the most recent being a talk with the legendary Tina Earnshaw which was so inspiring. There are so many master classes, events, discount evenings and talks which each bring their own knowledge and excitement of the industry as well as major discounts on products and goody bags which is imperative when trying to build a kit as a student. There’s always graduates buzzing through the halls ready to give advice and share their knowledge, eager to answer questions and help, but it’s also incredible to hear what they’ve been up to after leaving- lots of them have graduated this year and are working on such amazing projects, often with Delamar tutors or sourced through Delamar and Delamar graduates. Delamar definitely is a family. The work experience offered to all students is also such a vital part of the course. If you have the time to do any work experience jobs to practise your skills and get used to being on a job I would recommend it- the course is intense with new topics most weeks so being able to practice in a work environment is essential practical experience. I’ve also been lucky enough to assist one of my tutors whilst on the course this year, which is an incredible opportunity whilst still being in a learning environment. I think each person that comes through Delamar is told how to succeed on the first day, it’s just a matter of paying attention and trying to put your best foot forward, listening to the wealth of wisdom around you and really appreciating every day as the time goes so quickly you can’t afford to not appreciate every minute.

Where do I begin! I wanted to study at Delamar back in 2013 however I didn't know you could get financial help from the government bank loans and also I felt stuck in the career I was in. However fast forward to me 3 years ago and I no longer could put off the career I craved! I went and visited the Academy and fell in love.. It was everything I hoped for and more....I signed up to start 2 weeks later!! The course was exciting, full on, emotional and one of the best things I've ever done. When I went to the Academy I originally wasn't sure which area of makeup and hair that I wanted to go into however throughout the course It became really clear to me that I was made for the TV / Film world. I learnt SO much within my time at Delamar that when I left my course I was lucky enough to jump straight into the freelance world and have successfully stayed busy and working since! Originally when I first started in the industry I was lucky enough to have some work come in of my own, however throughout my career Delamar have been right there behind me through every step of the way and when it came to quiet moments they were able to get me in touch with people with job opportunities on big TV Dramas to get me back working. After graduating from The Complete Make-up Artist course with Delamar Academy in December 2017 - I can honestly say the experience has been a dream. Being taught by some of the top hair and make-up artists in the industry, you get first class tuition. All of the Delamar team provide brilliant support through out and after the course. The aftercare is amazing, unlike a lot of schools - Delamar keeps in contact and helps you find work with in the industry. I don’t believe I would be where I am now with out them. For so long I was unsure of where I wanted to go with my career, knowing in the back of my head that I had a love for hair and makeup. I would definitely recommend Delamar Academy if you are looking to get into Fashion, Film or TV. I did lots of research on different makeup courses and decided to go to Delamar as it was the only school that offered everything I wanted to learn and more. I recently graduated from Delamar Academy . I was on the 22 week course and I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences of my life . Setting , Application and styling of wigs from period to contemporary styles, knotting of facial hair, sculpting and application of basic prosthetics, barbering , body painting , air brushing , casualty& character ( sfx makeup) — such as bruises, cuts, illnesses, skin disorders, tattoo covering , frost bites and so on ... The tutors at Delamar are all at the top of their field and working makeup artists, which allows the student to have current knowledge and keep up with the makeup and hair trends . Delamar helped us in creating our CV and makeup contracts and also gave us tips on doing our own taxes and making invoices . Delamar will teach you everything you need to know in order to make your place in the makeup industry . There were so many master classes, events , makeup discounts which was super helpful to me in building of my kit as a student. I personally got to meet two of the ladies who I’m highly inspired by Tina Earnshaw and Caroline Hirons . Also before you graduate you get to work on professional models on an actual photo shoot, with best photographers from the industry who also give you an in depth knowledge of set etiquette and different lightings and how the makeup and hair looks under different lights . Because Delamar is such an international institute you get to practise on various different skin tones and hair textures . I have just graduated from the 1 year HE Professional makeup and design course at Delamar academy. What an amazing year it was. My experience at Delamar academy was incredible. The best decision I made when I moved from Chicago to London was going to Delamar Academy. I describe Delamar as the Ivy League Academy for make-up artists worldwide. The Academy truly cares about their students and their careers. I knew that Delamar was the place for me when I took a tour of the campus. I first walked onto the grounds and straight into a film set full of movie trailers. The hustle and bustle of working artists on a film in one of the oldest studios in the world . . .priceless! The tour for Delamar was fantastic! As I had already completed a 4-year University degree (un-makeup and hair related), I wanted to attend a shorter course than the 1 year course, but one that taught me all of necessary skills to potentially work in any area of makeup and hair. This course was perfect and I feel well-equipped to begin my career! The tutors are amazing and really push you to your full potential. I have been taking online classes with Delamar Academy in the past weeks. It is rewarding and definitely the best activity during the covid stay home situation! The classes are wide ranged from beauty, period to sfx makeup and taught by their faculty who are working artists in the industry with heaps of experience. They are really connected in the industry, so look out for the masterclasses that they collaborate with other celebrity artists for the rare learning opportunities. Some of the classes are free and some charge a reasonable fee to cover their cost and to donate to NHS. The classes are very high quality and the tutors try to share as much as they can, even during the free lessons! The tutors do try to answer everyone's questions live in the session and welcome you to share your work afterwards! I have learnt a lot from each lesson, and don't forget to practice on your own cause I think that's how you get the most from online learning. I would recommend Delamar to those who are interested in makeup and especially those who wants to work in the industry. Most importantly, if you are thinking to join the school's regular classes in the future, you will have a chance to meet the tutors online and see the resources that you will get!

I visited Delamar one year before I began the course. As soon as I walked into the academy it had such a friendly atmosphere and felt so professional. I could see the photographs of the students work displayed on the walls and photo’s showing Delamar's long history of award winning Makeup Artists. Straight away I knew this is where I had to come. Throughout the 14 weeks I faced a new challenge every day. This ranged from basic makeup, casualty and prosthetics, to learning how to knot facial hair. There were areas in which I found difficult and areas which I knew I had much better potential. I enrolled in the 16 week course after a difficult decision to embark on a change of career at 32 years of age. It was a nerve-wracking decision as I would be entirely self-funding and be putting a significant chunk of my life savings into the course. The team at Delamar were all very helpful and informative throughout my decision making process, and I felt supported choosing a course that was right for me. Not once did I feel pressured into making any immediate choices. My experience on the course itself proved to be utterly priceless. All of our tutors were current and well respected professionals, who not only had a wealth of up-to-date knowledge to share with us, but who without fail cared deeply about passing their knowledge on to the next generation of make-up artists. I particularly enjoyed my Casualty and Character lessons with Amanda Warburton who is possibly the most passionate tutor I have ever come across in my life, as well as my Period Hair lessons with Wendy Topping who has taught me the most beautiful and precise wig and hair techniques with the patience of a complete saint. When I started the course, I felt insignificant and lost amongst the wealth of talent surrounding me. The kindness of our tutors, Leda, and the rest of her administrative team have turned such feelings around completely, and I always feel welcomed and - as cheesy as it sounds! - that I am part of a caring family who have my best interest at heart. We were taught by Film and TVs best Hair and Makeup Artists, teaching us the most up to date techniques in the industry. The Course came with an excellent kit, more than enough tools and makeup for starting out in the Business. The care was excellent whilst studying there, but even more so in the aftercare! The agency has been a huge help in sourcing work, and I wouldn’t be as confident, or have nearly as many contacts without them. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to come here. Everyone here is fantastic, Monika, Debbie, and Marcia are always so helpful and kind, and we are so lucky that the tutors here are willing to take time to pass on their knowledge to us - these are some of the top people in the industry. Many compliments to Leda who runs the whole place like a well oiled machine, and Emma who brings in masterclass after masterclass and organizes photoshoots for the fashion students. I graduate from the 22 week course in a week and a half, it has flown by! The 22 week is a very comprehensive course that covers basically every aspect within the industry, including prosthetics, wig setting, fashion, casualty and character, and even knotting facial hair (which was surprisingly fun and a great skill to have under your belt). If you're struggling to decide which course to take, I would say the 22 week is basically a more condensed version the year course, except the year course students prepare an exhibition at the end of the course, having specialized in either hair, fashion, or prosthetics, and upon completion, receive a degree from UWL. With it being a longer course, the demographic is generally a little bit younger (ie. 18-21 yo), and the shorter courses are a bit more diverse. In my course, we spanned from 18 to 46 years old, which was really cool, and we were from all over the world! Many of us travelled many thousands of miles to come here, which is a great testament to how fabulous Delamar is. I may be biased, but I don't think there is any better place to study hair and makeup, and if I could turn back time, I wouldn't change a thing. I will miss coming here every day, but I feel ready to go into the industry and make use of everything I've learned.

A truly amazing place to study, the tutors are the top in their field, and the industry knowledge is invaluable. The skills I have learnt on my one year course here give me a wider range of opportunities, from hair to SFX, fashion makeup to prosthetics. There are many outside opportunities offered, with masterclasses from top people in the makeup industry across film, TV and fashion. These could also be demonstrations in different stores over London, so we build up our product knowledge of different brands (and get a nice discount perhaps!). There are also opportunities to build up your work throughout the year, on different shoots and student films which all build confidence in your skills and accustom you to being in set. All the staff at the school are really lovely and supportive, and are happy to help with whatever questions you may have. I shall really miss them but also know I’ll still be in touch. If you’re considering a makeup/hair/prosthetics school, then I say they you can’t get much higher standards than here!

I was eight when the colour palette had me fascinated. And with a younger sister being my guinea pig, my tiny little hands knew no boundaries. Then education happened and then gradually life happened and everything seemed so grey with monotony eclipsing me. Until that exuberant eight year old surfaced a couple of years ago. After a lot of procrastination I finally found myself a reason big enough to keep that child in me alive and chase my passion. I escalated myself out of my comfort zone. Fought many battles before I could enrol myself onto an academy in Mumbai. Did my specialisation course in artistry n bridal make up there, and set my journey as a freelance makeup artist. Started working eccentricibly and earning and saving up to enter the big league. I heard great laurels about this prestigious university from great artists back home in India whom I looked upto. I knew this was my holy grail. This is the place to beat my craft. So I set myself a goal and started working towards it until I could fund myself and planted hope in my parents so that I could seek their approval and take a loan. When I first walked into Delamar I had a lot of questions in my head. But self doubt wasn’t one of them. I trusted my instincts and did what was necessary. Not only did the academy made a good artist out of me, but also made a stronger individual. The faculty and the facilities in the academy are simply fabulous. Their approach to teaching the intricacies of the craft and the trade is simply flabbergasting. And I made some amazing friends and learnt some valuable life lessons. In simple words I reaped more than what I paid for. And now I graduate from this place as a better artist and a stronger individual with greater dreams and deep appreciation for life. I am all ready eyed with gratitude. I thank the whole faculty and friends from the academy for such warmth and enlightenment. This academy has taught me more about hair and makeup than I have ever expected to have learned in one year! Aside from basic beauty and fashion makeup and hair, I learned how to apply and style wigs from period to contemporary styles, knot facial hair, sculpt and apply basic prosthetics, cut men’s hair, design my own body painting and air brushing, apply sfx makeup — such as bruises, cuts, illnesses, skin disorders, and so on. This is the place to go to if you want to be a well-rounded hair and makeup artist!
