As of 2016 this school will be a two form entry school from reception through to year 4. A new team of head teachers took over a few years ago and this school has gone from strength to strength. It is perhaps understandable why some are reluctant to consider this school due to it's past reputation. I was one such parent. The proof however is in the pudding and you really have to visit the school. With a brand new reception building opened in 2015 and a great team of teachers and children it is hard not to feel passionate about this school ☺

We’ve had two children at Dulwich Wood Primary so far and it’s been excellent for both of them. The teachers and other staff are wonderful and I really feel that children get the individual attention they need in their first few years at school. There’s a diverse and supportive community and facilities are also very good, especially with the new reception/Y1 block. There’s also a lot of outdoor and green space. The result for us has been rapid progress, both academically and socially, and two happy kids!

My daughter started reception this September (the lovely new building). I was very anxious to begin with but within the first week all the anxieties melted away. The teaching staff here are just amazing, and were able to bring my painfully shy and introverted girl right out of her shell. The child centred learning and reward system works wonders. But rather than reading my review, go in for one of their open days and see for yourself!

My daughter joined the school in Year 4 when we moved from East Dulwich 15 months ago. Her old school was an oversubscribed, crowded Victorian school and as the youngest in a bulge year (3 class intake instead of the normal 2) she always struggled a little.
Since she's been at DWP, she's really come out of herself. The class size is smaller and they use a house system which she finds highly motivating. Parents are often invited to assembly on a Friday morning and I always leave it with a massive grin on my face which lasts all day. The school is enormously positive and encouraging, the management team is great and I'm really happy that we made the move.

With two daughters in Reception and Year 2 we couldn't be happier. This spacious school provides a strong base of teaching staff, plus a great variety of clubs and activities for a well-rounded education and fun experience.

We are so lucky to have a new ,fantastic ,musically gifted headteacher who plays accordion, guitar and ukulele and truly cares about our school. My 2 older children attended Dulwich Wood Primary and I now have a child in year 2 so I have experienced MASSIVE, amazing improvements compared with how the school was before he joined. There is interesting homework which my child eagerly does every day before Friday hand - in date, Emu Afterschool club is special because all various aged children are always busy and happy together and the cost doesn't break the bank. Previously there was hardly any parental involvement. Now since the new Head and fantastic, warm ,welcoming Deputy Head joined parents are highly motivated to enhance the school experience for all pupils so we have Fruity Friday selling healthy snacks each week and singing Christmas carols at Sydenham Hill train station to raise funds. We have chickens we volunteer to care for throughout the year, generous sized playgrounds, lighthouse, pond, stunning new building and outdoor climbing wall, free ,delicious school lunches for all pupils , weekly Spanish lessons, sport ,steel pan and Streetdance Afterschool clubs and although I could go on, my favourite aspect about the school has to be FRIDAY EXCELLENCE ASSEMBLY! So even if my child isn't being awarded the Star Pupil Award,I try to attend every week . I was so proud to hear our netball and cricket teams won every match and what tops everything is when our Headteacher brings out his accordion and pupils, teachers and parents/ carers all sing a fun ,house team song together with arms swaying and big jump at the end! Those Friday assemblies are uplifting and always a great start to the day so when visiting the school, try to come to one! We parents would love to welcome you! Thank you !
