I joined Gracie Barra Oval a few months after moving to London & I had no prior BJJ experience. It is a fantastic school with an exceptional quality of teaching & a very flexible schedule. All the coaches & staff are welcoming & friendly, lead by professor Eduardo. The club has a great team spirit & atmosphere. I look forward to continuing my BJJ journey in Gracie Barra Oval & would recommend it to anyone considering, or already practicing BJJ.

After a crazy year and a half and multiple lockdowns, I thought it would be really good idea to get into some form of Martial Art to strengthen my physical and mental health. I decided to look for a BJJ School in London that had a flexible timeline to fit around my busy work and family schedule. And after looking at multiple schools in London, Gracie Barra Oval class schedule seemed to fit in perfect with my spare time and was easily accessible via public transport and vehicle. I attended a free trial class and was super impressed by how welcoming the staff and the other students were. After my first session I was not disappointed, this was exactly what I was looking for and now 2 months later my children are now attending classes there also. I 100% recommend this school for both adults and children.

Gracie Barra Oval is an amazing club. It's been an absolute joy training here. Professor Eduardo Carrielo has built a fantastic organisation. He's a brilliant teacher (as are all the instructors), and really takes the time to get to know his students. The club atmosphere is great too, there's no huge egos in the place even amongst people who are definitely killers on the mat ;-) I can say, unequivocally, that you should have no hesitation about joining.

I've been training at GB Oval for over a year now and I must say, it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Not only is Eduardo a fantastic instructor who has great attention to detail, he has created a really good, positive atmosphere where all students encourage and support one another to get better in this martial art. There are no egos or unpleasant personalities here; I actually like and respect everyone I train with. Another bonus is I have lost about 10 kg in the last year and I have had to get a whole new wardrobe; I'm in the best shape I've ever been in all my life. Therefore, I would highly recommend this club to anyone considering training in BJJ.

Since I came through that door and meet Eduardo and Ollie and the rest of the team my life changed for the better after struggling with depression and anxiety for a long period. Not only that my mental condition changed for something that I did not expect to happen in such a short period of time, my training for competitional level has improved. Last but not less important in the team you are able to find a bunch of friends to chat and train along and build some nice strenghts on your mental condition, strength, skills and also develop your character. Can’t explain in words how much I recommend this family run club.

As a woman I was a bit concerned before coming to the classes. This sport is male dominated, however there is a good team of amazing girls, in the school, who support each other and train together. Boys are gentle and supportive too. It's a great place to gain confidence, flexibility and physical and mental strength. The atmosphere is very friendly, positive and honest. An amazing club. The instructors, Edwardo and Carolina are not only jiu jitsu experts, they're also expert instructors. One of the most important criteria in choosing a BJJ gym is to find the right instructor. I have been with the gym and trained under Eduardo, the head coach, for almost 3 years now. Eduardo is one of the best BJJ instructors in London with a strong emphasis on mastering and conceptualising the fundamentals. I have also found the people in the gym to be friendly and welcoming, and the environment to be very conducive and supportive in terms of my development as a BJJ practictioner. I would definitely recommend coming here, especially as a beginner, to train at GB Oval. There is a free introductory class and trial lesson if this is your first time trying out BJJ.

I have been training at Gracie Barra Oval for about 6 months and would happily recommend it to anyone interested in training in BJJ. The club is owned and managed by 4th degree black belt Professor Eduardo Carrellio, who teaches the vast majority of the classes himself. As well as being an absolute goldmine of BJJ technique, Eduardo is very patient, methodical and approachable; he takes a personal interest in helping each of his students. The club has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with no big egos, and something to offer all levels with competitive players throughout. There are training sessions morning, lunch and evening five days a week as well as a session on Saturday, with beginners, advanced, open mat, no gi and kids classes. There are typically three or four ladies per beginners’ class. Overall, I think this is a great place to train, am very happy to be part of this club and would encourage anyone with an interest in learning BJJ to come along and try it out.

I've been a member of a number of gyms over the years, from boxing to MMA and now BJJ. This is by far the friendliest, most respectful and professionally run gym I have ever been to. Both the coaches are extremely patient, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and there's a real focus on teaching beginners, not something you find at many gyms. The first free lesson was a one-to-one session with the head coach. It covers the warmup drills you have to do in the first lesson, followed by break falls. It's really great covering this so you don't feel out of place on the first proper shared class. Having just started going regularly, I would say this is an amazing place to learn. As for BJJ, it's a very cerebral and challenging sport, so it's likely to keep you interested for a very long time, if not a lifetime. I just wished I had started many years ago.
