It is a privilege to learn French kickboxing from a world best fighter! James has always encouraged me; he challenges my thoughts around strategy and tactics. His variety of strength training in classes gets me fit to compete in this sport. His knowledge is primarily science-based. London Savate is a super friendly sports club where I met people I am now friends with!

London Savate is an incredibly welcoming club. I spent six months there and each class was a pleasure: you keep improving and having fun, meeting new people from all horizons. In addition, the teacher is as supportive during the class as deep-thinking after the class. If you are looking for unforgettable sparring as well as great discussions, give it a go!

Great club where to train Savate, a kind of kickboxing originating from France, combining kicks and English Boxing. Training is of very high quality, varied, with a different theme to work on each day, and focussing on Savate Assaut (the light contact version). James Southwood is one of the best in the world in his discipline and is passionate about teaching this art. The atmosphere in the club is very friendly and supportive, and newcomers, from complete beginners to experienced fighters, are always welcome. Definitely worth a try!

Had five sessions so far and have really enjoyed every session. Savate is a very technical kickboxing style and James teaches it very well demonstrating techniques with great balance and critiquing and improving the techniques of others succinctly and clearly. The classes are well constructed with a variety of exercises, combinations pad work and sparring for those that are willing and ready. People are pushed to work hard but not pushed to spar before they are ready or risk injury. Lessons are great value for money and the students are both friendly and welcoming. If you have any interest in the art of Savate, combat sports of martial arts in general I highly recommend you give it a try.

Undoubtedly the best and friendliest fighting club I ever been to! Great people and an amazing teacher (James Southwood) who immediately make you feel right at home. You can tell how much love James have for this sport by the huge amount of interest he shows each and every one of his students. James is a former world champion and extremely experienced in this art form, but still coaches you individually after your needs. I came all the way from Sweden to train with him and his team and I would (and will) do it again. I highly recommend this club to everyone who wants to have fun, meet kind people and learn an amazing martial art!

This is one of the best clubs you will find. There is a place for casual joiners or seasoned fighters. James puts a huge amount of effort into making sure everyone gets attention in a class. This isn't one of those places where the coach tells you to jab the bag and comes back a half hour later. There's a good community among the students and a lot of mutual support. James is very experienced in his sport (former World Champion) and is very well researched on the science behind training.

Best fun kickboxing workout in london! Perfect for women and men, close to Bermondsey underground station, great value for money and lead by very professional and supportive teachers! Been there a year now, love the results and the cosy atmosphere of the location all other members. Try it
