Very welcoming group of students, of all ages, sizes and abilities.
Quality instructors, teaching authentic Brazilian samba no pé.
Encouraging and inclusive environment.
An amazing place to start as an absolute beginner and equally if you’re an experienced dancer as there are generally two class and teacher options.

My experience at the London School of Samba has always been very pleasant since I joined in 2016. I felt welcome and had lots of fun during both classes and performances. I have found very good friends in there ☺️

I first started to attend classes in 2007 and have continued to be involved in the samba school ever since. I’d would really recommend if you are new to London and looking for friendships and connections because it helped me as an Australian living in London :)

Amazing performers and wonderful people. I’ve been lucky enough to join LSS musicians and dancers doing street performances, carnivals, parties, and stage routines and they are absolutely fabulous.

Great beginner percussion and dance classes and a tight, experienced bateria with close ties to Mocidade's school in Rio. Hands down the most welcoming, most fun escola in the UK ;)

I joined LSS in 2019 when I moved to London from overseas. I had played samba with other groups, but I still had/ have alot to learn and have found the teaching fantastic- it’s a very supportive environment to develop your samba skills no matter what level you’re at. I’ve made some lovely friends through LSS. It will always be a ‘home’ for me in London.

The friendliest samba school in London. Whether you wish to dance or drum and regardless of your prior experience, the teachers here will get you grooving in no time at all.

Very welcoming and fun classes for all abilities of drummers, percussionists and dancers, a real sense of community and celebration, plus opportunities to represent the school and samba at gigs and carnivals!

"Love the guys at the London School of Samba! Super friendly and welcoming to us everytime we visit the School from Bloco B. Loved playing with them at Notting Hill Carnival and recommend there samba dance and drumming classes on a Sunday."

Passionate and knowledgeable about Rio style Samba both dance and music making. Authentic style without loosing a sense of fun.

Regardless of your experience London School of Samba is a community open to everyone. Dance or drumming classes are led by experienced and well respected teachers that will help you to develop your skills. The school is also offering amazing performances that bring Brazilian carnival feeling to any event After being a member for over two years I have just words of praise

Anybody looking to try samba dancing or drumming in London, then I highly recommend the Sunday beginners sessions from 6pm. It's lots of fun and a great way to make new friends from all over the world! If you are looking for a new hobby or a fun way to stay fit, then the dance classes are a lot of fun!
They also do a complete beginners introduction to samba drumming on a Sunday from 7.30pm and have really friendly and helpful teachers.
The great thing is that you can go to a dance class and then jump into the beginners samba drumming class afterwards.
Very social bunch of people, and a good way to get into Brazilian music and dance in London

Great samba school - really friendly teachers and atmosphere!

A fantastic samba school where everyone is really friendly. I have been dancing with them for 7 years and love everything about the school. Dancing in Notting hill is amazing and we also go to Germany and Brazil to dance . It is very welcoming for beginners and a nice bunch of people, I especially love their queen. She is a fantastic dancer and also an amazing teacher. I really recommend their classes!

London School of Samba is warm, welcoming, fun and friendly - but at the same time the standard of dance and drumming are very high - the teachers and 'Mestres' are highly respected on the Samba scene and you'll get great opportunities to develop skills and perform all over London and around the world. Recommended for absolute beginners and experienced Sambistas alike - just turn up!

London school of samba is an amazing place with amazing teachers where you will learn to dance, have fun but most of all make friends.
I travel almost every weekends and come back on the evenings of the class. I am exhausted but I almost never miss a class. It is always worth it and I never regret going. It is exhilarating and always puts a smile on my face. It is also a great work out!!!
I am a bit shy but there is such a community feeling that the first time I came, the people were so welcoming over there, that I didn’t feel out of place.
Wether you feel like dancing or playing batteria, come visit us will be received with open arms and a huge smile.

Very friendly and caters for all levels. I have been going for a couple of years. I love the classes and the different dance teachers they use. They also teach drumming which I started doing the last couple of months. I had never played any instrument before and love the drums now.
There is also a lot more going on such as making carnival costumes. I did the Notting Hill carnival parade with them which was one of the best experience of my life ....

Amazing experience, really good tutors and very friendly atmosphere!!

The UK's first samba school - what more can you say? Great place to learn the Carnival arts - from drumming, dance, costume making and during carnival, skills like float building. Very inclusive, welcomes all people from all backgrounds regardless of their abilities. They do loads of gigs every year and runs open access workshops in Waterloo on Sunday nights (check website for details). Highly recommend a visit if you are interested in playing samba, dancing samba, taking part in gigs and carnival - the LSS is a way into this!

London school of samba is such a warm and friendly experience. If you're looking for a fun way to exercise or play an instrument then this is the place! The members welcome everyone, (all different walks of life) with open arms. Such a wonderful community vibe it is, sharing the true Brazillian culture.

Love London School of Samba. I joined cause I wanted to do carnival a few years ago and never left. Every week the class gives me energy and I always leave feeling like I've had a workout, with a smile and wanting more.
I've learnt about Brazilian culture, music and food.
Its so much more than just a dance or drumming class it's a community.
If your interested check the website and definitely come to a Quadra which is the last Sunday of the month. It's when the dancers and drummers have a separate hour class and then we all come together for the last hour and have a mini carnival party. Everyone is welcome and everyone can learn. Thank you LSS

Totally infectious, I could listen to them forever!

I got the taste for Samba a number of years ago after doing a weekend workshop with Monobloco (who came over from Rio) in Guildford, but couldn't find anything regular local to me. The Sunday workshops at WAC are easy to get to as literally just outside Waterloo station. If I lived nearer I'd be there every week! Have made some great friends and learned so much more about Samba, Carnaval and Brazilian culture.

The most amazing dance teachers, drummers and people! Great sense of community and the best Notting Hill Carnival show. Voted performers of the year at the LUKAS awards
V. Y.
Great teachers! Irineou is my favourite, strict but fun class to go to. The missing star is just for the size of the toilets in the current venue. The crowd there is very friendly.

The monthly Quadra night (last Sunday of the month) is an opportunity to see the school's dancers, drummers and Royal Family in a dress rehearsal and party for our diverse community

Brilliantly energising drum and dance workshops

I arrived having played little more than a steering wheel, but evetually learned enough skills ot play in some of the most fantastic gigs at the greatest venues. I can't exaggerare the pleasure I have got from these workshops

Fantastic experience, real authentic Brazilian samba dance and drumming, plus it opens a whole new world of carnival adventure! Highly recommended.
