I attended a free taster session with Mandarin Quarter back in September 2017 having been handed their flyer. I’d been considering learning Mandarin for a while and this was a great opportunity to try it out. I remember the session being a lot of fun and it quashed a lot of the preconceptions I had about the challenges of learning the language. I signed up for the beginners course straight away and I’m now ready to sit my first exam, for HSK Level 1. Can’t wait to begin the Level 2 Course! The lessons are fun and interactive and the class sizes are small but made up of people of all ages and from all walks of life. It’s not only a great route to learning a new language but a great way to meet new people as well. Thoroughly recommended!

I've taken the beginners course and am half way through the next with Mandarin Quarter and highly recommend it. The lessons are interesting, pitched at a good level and have plenty of involvement. The course materials are well prepared and the speaking homework is a great addition to help learning. I recently passed the HSK 1 exam with full marks and owe the success to the fantastic teaching I received.

Mandarin Quarter are very good at understanding your language learning needs and I feel that the teacher is great at interactive teaching. There are 11 students in our class, which I feel is just about the right amount. He makes the effort to listen and critique each students' pronunciation and does not move on until he knows they fully understand the concepts. Not only does our teacher teach from the HSK curriculum, but he also has a great understanding of Chinese culture and history; he adds great personality to the lessons! I would definitely recommend Mandarin Quarter to any of my friends and colleagues.

I did the 1st level of mandarin this year with a great teacher Chun Lai, great material, good enthusiasm and a good class pace. Great as a refresher or as a first introduction to mandarin. Positively surprised by how much I learnt and the quality of material available for catching up from classes missed! Really recommend and will definitely be doing the next level.

My biggest regret is not learning to speak Chinese, especially as my mother is Chinese! This is such a great way for me to learn to read, write, speak and listen in a small class with like minded people who are equally eager to learn! Having completed HSK level 1 I am ready to sit the exam and keep going to the next level. This is a great way to use my evenings and challenge myself. My son is now also learning and now I can understand what he is saying to me too!

Small classes and engaged teachers. Focus is very much on speaking so I was able to speak a couple of sentences relatively quickly. I like that the school is close to Canary Wharf so its ideal to go there after work.

Great teaching, fun class. Teacher really makes the subject interesting and gives lots of examples. Emphasis on speaking and challenges us to think about building sentences from the words we've learned. Really enjoying it!

The second course was as good as the first. Everything is well explained. I find it a fun way to learn Chinese. There is a personal approach, in small groups, with lots of different techniques used. Such as videos, music, listening.

The advantages of the class size being small allows for more practice to speak with other members of the group. You also experience one to one tutor interaction. I enjoy the various methods learning styles used, to aid the students to remember new words. The tutor is fun, energetic and very keen to ensure that each student understands how to pronounce words and learn the Chinese symbol. I look forward in continuing to the next level.”
