M. G. M.Nine months ago, I started a program that Musical U offers called Living Music from the inside out. It is an incredible music program! The program is broken up into Seasons which last 3 months each. So far I have completed 3 of the Seasons and getting ready to start the last one for the year. Each season concentrates on different parts of music such as improv, rhythm, ear training, etc. so you can jump in at any season as they are interrelated but not required. Plus thru every season you learn about different songs & genres and their parts and how they all come together as a whole. After 9 months of the Living Music Program this week I was able to write a 25 bar song and understand every part of what I was doing to produce it. This is extremely exciting for me! If you are serious about wanting to play and understand what you are doing in your musical journey this would be a great program for you. The community is strong and the team is always available to answer any questions you have plus they have approximately 4 to 5 live zoom workshops and Q&A sessions that you can attend live or watch as a replay.
T. H.I am in the Foundations class and it has been very interesting. I have learned a lot but there is still some "nature" involved because I am still unable to count out those beats, especially when a 3/4 or 4/4 beat changes pace and I still can't rhythm out a 6/8 beat. I started this class because I have become the director for our tiny church choir. The class has helped but it hasn't solved. I also enjoyed, and got a lot from, the Circles intro. I'm not done learning and I still have to complete my Foundations class.

A. S.Musical U has helped me get unstuck in my musical journey. While I have studied theory in the past, Musical U has allowed me to really understand theory with my ears and apply it to my instrument. The Musical U team make thoughtful responses to my comments and have checked in with me when I hadn't been on the site for awhile. Other music related websites haven't done that. I enjoy using Musical U and have noticed growth in my playing and knowledge since I started in December.
A. K.Before joining Musical U I understood very little about music. I suspected that I was not tone deaf, and that if I only could grasp the main principles - like tones, chords, octaves, rhythm, then I could get what I should pay attention to, what exactly I must be listening to. But I never could pay for a typical musical education and did not know how to start to learn the basics myself.
Last year I came across Musical U and after reading a bit on their website, and passing a test (whether I am tone deaf, it turned out that I was not) I decided to give it a try.
One can choose between various learning schemes/frameworks, I made my choice and followed a few courses. The material is well organized, and there is much help from the community.
Now I am practicing in playing ukulele, even though I have difficulty to make time.

If you are already a practising musician, you may think the early modules are simplistic but it rapidly becomes very challenging .. even for experienced musicians. Though it stops at the Pentatonic scale, it does exactly what it advertises which is to build a firm FOUNDATION .. especially in sol fa. Highly recommended for good quality, value, professionalism & communication.

Aside from great lessons video lessons, which are extremely well thought out and structured, there is also an opportunity to dial in to a live session several times a week and to have you questions answered, as well as listen to other students problem-solve in their work with the instructor. It's inspiring and engaging to listen to how more advanced students work out their difficulties.

M. H.Musical U is a great place to learn about music online. I have tried a few apps and they are great for practicing certain aspects like rhythm and pitch. But they lack a deep understanding into music. This is were Musical U helped me a total beginner out. There are a lot of exercises on the site to to learn the basics. They focus on the community and when I got stuck I just asked for helped and quickly someone replied with very useful ideas to overcome my sticking points. I am just in my first year, but there are many modules for beginners to advanced musicians, so I guess that Musical U will be helpful for a very long time. Thanks for the great product!

I initially committed to a year to jumpstart a new season of personal musical growth. The goal-setting unit was an excellent start to the year. I still refer back to those goals regularly and have added a number of the suggestions and skills that I picked up through the courses to make my practice sessions more intentional in the areas of playing by ear and participating as a member of our church music band. While the more basic classes were too basic for someone who has studied music at a university level, the way the content was presented served me well as a piano teacher. I really appreciate your skill in effectively communicating difficult musical concepts for beginners. I would highly recommend subscribing your young or less-experienced students, students who have a classical background and need to refine their ear and chord-training skills, or students (like me) who just need a helpful and engaging tool to review age-old concepts and discover new gems to apply to one's own personal musical development.

c. m.musical u is a great musical ear training tool/website for those seeking to expand in that area. I personally went there to learn the fundamentals that I was missing in order for me to sing in tune. sadly this is something that youtube tutorials and the likes expect you to already know.
It has plenty of admin that are there to help you solve any problem whether it be technical or musical. From my experience they are a really team that seem to generally want to solve your troubles.
One thing i will say about musical u, this is not a trainer for techniques to improve your playing rather, a way of training how to hear the different notes and parts to a piece of music to gain a better understanding as to why a song writer wrote the music the way they did. In saying that, this is not a theory website (though there is some of that where need be), but you instead learn the different note jumps, chords, and other parts that you would normally not be able to pick out. I'm not that far through and already I'm picking up on some of the intervals that get used by some artists.
Its a really cool website that has long term gains as a musician, just don't expect any instant improvements and be ready for the long learning process.
N. G.I've been working with Musical U for a while and came across the podcast this last week. So I listened to Sara Campbell on finding the notes yourself; About Chord Tones and a couple others. Working with I IV V chords and learning to play the IV chord lower that the I chord and the V chord higher than the I really has helped me distinguish the differences between them. Well at least it is improving.
w. h.A great place to expand your musical knowledge. Staff are wonderful and supportive and always ready to help. Highly recommended. I use the online musical U website to help with ear training and much more.
d. z.Interesting modules. Thorough information divided into practical units. Nice little tests throughout. Questions that may nevertheless arise are promptly answered by the Musical U staff or by other students (the Community). I learned a lot within a relatively short time and there is enough for the next few years. Should have started this whole thing before.
