I would wholeheartedly recommend Jens as an ‘A’ level German tutor. Jens is extremely knowledgeable and has superb people skills. He is kind, friendly, organised and focused. Jens tutored my daughter Sasha, online, up to the May 2021 ‘A’ level exams. Sasha’s confidence and skills grew Immeasurably over this time and she was able to secure an A* in her German ‘A’ level, leading to a confirmed place at her first choice of university. I had lessons with Jens exclusively over Skype for a year before moving to Germany. I had no experience whatsoever of speaking German / learning languages and decided to try lessons with Jens. Jens manages to strike a balance between pushing you but always making you feel supported and encouraged. His methods and materials are really amazing and there is a methodical structure to everything he does and a reason behind the sequencing of topics (even when you don't think there is!). Jens is always professional and moves you forward in your learning but he also has a great sense of humour, which is needed during those times when you feel you are just banging your head against a wall and will never master German. After moving to Germany and taking some intensive courses from some of the most renowned schools in the world for languages, I have actually asked Jens to be my teacher again from the UK! I would not hesitate to recommend him if you want to learn German.

I have learnt German as a child and never really got a hang of it despite spending many skiing holidays in Austria. During lockdown I craved to do something intellectual and to work more on my personal development rather than Netflix ;-), so I had decided to take up German again. It was a great decision, as Jens is a fantastic teacher, very methodical and clear in his instructions, but at the same time a great fun. I've been attending the group sessions (5 students, so everyone gets plenty of individual attention) for 4 months now, and I have become much more confident both in spoken and written German. Look no further, Jens is the best!

I have been having lessons with Jens in one of his intensive group courses for the past two and a half years and have made fantastic progress in that time – I’m able to read and understand a variety of material now and can communicate much more naturally. Although we practice all 4 language skills in class, he gives his students a strong basis in grammar, which makes communication much easier, and his explanations are always clear and tailored to the English speaker. As a doctor who does shift work, the flexibility of the classes are also really useful, which is not offered by most of the other bigger language schools.

I've been taking German classes with Olesen tuition since February 2020, and have found the standard of teaching, variety of materials, and general approach to be excellent. Previously, I had studied at the Goethe Institute, which also offers a high standard of tuition, but Olesen Tuition has several advantages: in particular, they offer small class tuition, which I find preferable to the larger classes at the Goethe Institute, and the booking system is very flexible, which was helpful for me as a freelancer. Jens himself is an engaging and inventive teacher, and has a good sense of humour. His colleagues who took the class for a few weeks in the summer were also very good teachers. One important advantage of the course is that the material used is adapted to the needs of the class, so even if you are generally working from one textbook, the teachers send supplementary material to address particular topics as and when needed. I would highly recommend Olesen Tuition to anyone interested in learning German.

I started having lessons with Jens in January 2020 when I was struggling with learning German, and I really enjoyed the personalised lessons and improved a lot with his help! He's a very patient teacher and he taught many good ways to learn German and simplify it in a way that is easy to comprehend. After the summer period and having been taught by Kristin, Jens' colleague, I decided to be taught by Kristin fully as I became very comfortable with her teaching style. Kristin is a very patient and passionate teacher, you will definitely feel comfortable and at ease when being taught by her. She's definitely very experienced and extremely willing to help and personalise your lessons according to what you're weak at. She's very encouraging and builds your confidence, even when you make mistakes or you're unsure, which is important when German is definitely not an easy language to learn. I would highly recommend the tutors at Olesen Tuition if you're interested in learning German or would like to improve your current level.

Jens is a very good teacher. I have found his explanations of German language concepts (word order, gender, use of cases) to be very thorough and clear. I have joined a small class (usually we are only 4-5 students) and so get enough personalised attention from him to make good progress in my learning. Additionally, Jens keeps the pace up - we break new ground each week. It's exactly what I'm after in German tuition. I thoroughly recommend him.

Jens has helped my son in his 6th form studies of German. He quickly established areas that needed additional focus and was able to work effectively and productively helping my son to move to the next level of learning. Jens understands how teenagers work and is excellent at motivating them. He is a great help in giving them a boost and really focusing on how to improve. Being a young native german speaker is a massive help. Jens is polite and kind, but also firm and is keen for his students to get the most out of his sessions. To a native English speaker like myself, the nuances of grammar do not come naturally, but Jens can push through these boundaries in a way that other native German speakers cannot. My experience learning German via mobile device, online platform, and other language institutions could have been better. Learning milestones were set and students were expected to achieve them with little revision and time allocation. Not with Olesen Tuition, Jens adapted his teaching methods and recommended a mode of learning effective for me. This was important, as I am a meticulous and slow-learner. If you're anything like me, your associations with learning a new language are centered around being a school student who is a mixture of frustrated, bored, confused and full of anxiety. Studying German with Jens has definitely flipped this association 180 degrees. Gone is the boredom, frustration and confusion (for the most part - it's still the German language. He's an amazing teacher, not a time-travelling wizard who can change the fabric of German grammar.) He is masterful at making lessons not just comprehensive, but fun - I genuinely look forward to our lessons; and information just seems to click and stick.
