Our Lady Queen of Heaven is a truly exceptional school. If you could look for one word to describe the way the school looks after each child, it would be “nurture”. Every single child is nurtured, loved and supported to help them achieve their full potential. Every teacher and assistant teacher from nursery onwards are constantly working with the parents to support the children, to guide them, to help them develop, to help them achieve their targets and to ensure that they are happy, that they enjoy going to school. Academic and social skills are developed; worried parents are listened to and supported. Children, who need extra support, get the help they need. I have seen my own child blossomed under the care of his teachers, from a very shy boy to a confident boy with a caring nature. My little boy also has a peanut allergy, and the school has always been very supportive, integrative and ensure that he enjoys school meals without feeling different. As a parent of a child with allergies, it is very important to feel that my child is safe at school, and I know that he is. We have a great range of after school activities to help keep the kids active and to introduce them to different activities. We have breakfast clubs and after school clubs to provide child care for working parents, at low prices. The clubs are run by fun teachers whom the kids absolutely love. We have been blessed to have Mrs Pitcher, as our head teacher. She guides the teachers and parents to help each child achieve their full potential. She is busy but she always makes time to receive the children when they arrive at school in the mornings. She knows all the children in the school by their first names, knows their personalities, how to engage with them, how to bring out their best. She is also always there to listen to the parents and help them, far beyond her role. The school feels like a community, parents and teachers together under the guidance of Mrs Pitcher, working together to make school life a truly enjoyable and nurturing experience for the children.

I've been a parent at Olqh since 2001when our now 20 year old started nursery there. Our 4 oldest have gone through this school and our 2 youngest are still there. We feel very blessed to be part of such a wonderful school and school community. Every child is valued and encouraged to do their best in all areas. Christian values and ethos are at the heart of this school. This is something which has always been very important to us and we feel very supported by all the teachers and staff within the school. One of our sons is Dyslexic . He was assessed within the school and had amazing support throughout his time there. All the children are throughout the school are knownb their first names. Mrs Pitcher the headteacher stands by the gate every morning to welcome parents and children and this also gives parents an opportunity to mention any concerns they may have .She is very approachable and very supportive of families especially when they need it most wheather through bereavement or ill health. They children have great teachers and lots of chances to avail of extra curricular activities eg gymnastics dance, music, football, rounders, athletics , cross country, tag rugby, cycling, choir & cookery . The most telling thing is all our children have and do love this school. Never have any of our children said ' I don't want to go to school today' . We are very thankful for all encouragement and nurturing our children have received and continue to receive at Our Lady Queen of Heaven school.
