Booked a corporate do but was for my wife’s Birthday.
Hannah, Ryan, Lesley and the rest of the team made it a very special day for my wife and all who attended.
The team at School of wok attended to all our needs and made it a fun and informative day.
Would highly recommend it.

I did the full day Korean cooking class the other day and it was absolutely amazing. The teacher, Ryan, was so lovely and helpful. The food was unbelievably tasty (I made hotteok again the day after because they were so nice) and it's made me want to cook more in the future as I enjoyed it so much! Thank you again to Ryan and I will definitely be back for more classes in the future :)

Great day. I took the Korean full day course. Ryan our chef was great very professional but with a good sense of humour. The day was very well planned and the instructions very clear. A bit of time was spent prepping and the rest of the time cooking and eating. Ryan made sure we had everything we needed. The only reason I did not give a 5th star is because I was looking forward to cooking the Korean fried chicken but health and safety concerns does not permit using big pots of hot oil! Makes sense and the cooked chicken was delicious but was disapointed. Great gift for anyone intetested in cooking. 100% recommend

I had a fantastic experience in the Chinese feast class. The food was great (even later as leftovers). So was the company, and, most importantly, the teaching. And the customer service and after care were truly excellent. Thanks to Cher and the crew.

Really fun class, Ryan was a great teacher and very amusing and the food was delicous and surprisingly easy to make with guidance of course.

I attended a three hour S.E. Asian cookery class. It was excellent. Good atmosphere, good setup friendly and helpful staff . Emma was our tutor and was very good, calm, informative and entertaining. Many thanks. If you have any interest in this sort of cooking then this is a must. 5*

What a fantastic experience this was! I was given a Korean Street food cooking course as a birthday gift and it was super helpful being shown how to chop and prepare the ingredients correctly before going to cook. All the staff I encountered were very nice and eager to help us learn plus we got to know lots of cultural insights into Korean cuisine.
I'd highly recommend people to do this course and probably the other ones available as well as they've been very helpful in me becoming more competent with cooking Korean cuisine.
See photos for examples of what we made :) Thanks School of Wok!

We did the Ultimate Chef Challenge as a team build cooking items from the Vietnamese menu for each other. Our chef Cher explained and demonstrated everything clearly and all dietary requirements were catered for. Great fun – definitely recommend!

Venue: Convenient, within 3-5 minutes walking from Charing Cross.
Host: Shannon was fab - super fun, lively, patient and explained things really easily. Some great top tips from them too. We also didn't feel rushed - the course was due to run from 11am-2pm, but we didn't leave until after 2:30 due to chatting with other students and finishing our food/drinks.
Food: We made Sweet & Sour Squid, Spicy Steamed Seabass, Garlic & Egg fried rice and Prawn Wontons. Even though some of these dishes seem 'simple' on the surface, Shannon showed us how to cook them PERFECTLY. Like Chinese food you'd really eat in China. They also catered for all food allergies and even just 'likes'.
Drink: Was really (pleasantly) surprised that we were offered some alcohol with our food: beer, wine, soft drinks also. Wasn't mentioned in the course blurb, so was great to have a few drinks with our food.
Learning: We went as a pair, but lots of people go solo and the school make an effort to get you mixing and talking, without it feeling forced. You prep your dishes as a pair. I've been at schools before where you do ALL the prep - and it often gets tiring or repetitive. Here they'd done some of the really irksome stuff for us - like scaling/gutting the seabass, de-veining the prawns etc. They also had a great blend or the kitchen support team cooking some of our food for us to snack on while we prepped the rest.
We'll definitely be back as there are a couple of other courses we'd like to do. Thanks again Shannon and SoW crew!

Fantastic cooking class held here by Ryan Yen.
We chose the Chinese takeaway classics class. The skill level was appropriate, and we had a good variety of cooking activities to perform, including chopping skills and wonton making. Ryan showed us many useful techniques and answered all questions thoroughly. The end result had a good level of authenticity and tasted great.
Would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic time at the School of Wok. It was well organized, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The instructions were clear and concise, and easy to follow. Highly recommended for a corporate function or if you just want to learn to cook. Our chef of the day was a lovely lady called Zoe

I’ve followed Chef Pang and the School of Wok on YouTube for over a year, enjoying the videos and cooking instructions very much. When we found ourselves with a trip to London scheduled, I knew that I had to take one of their classes. We scheduled a 3 hour Dim Sum class for the Friday night that we were there. The class started at 6:30 and we received emailed instructions ahead of time telling us when to arrive and what to wear, etc. For the class, we made several items including BBQ chicken wings, sui mai steamed dumplings, crispy beancurd rolls, and baozi steamed buns with pickled veg. There were about eight of us taking the class, plus the instructor and an assistant. I had hoped that Chef Pang would be teaching the class or even be there to say hello, but alas he wasn’t. Our instructor Paddy was very friendly and attentive, so no complaints about him at all. Here are my impressions both good and otherwise on the experience.
Pros:
-The staff was very attentive and answered all questions.
-Each attendee was offered a drink before class started, either soft drinks or wine. Very nice.
-I liked the array of items that we made, it was a good cross section of dim sum (though certain items were more successful than others, more on that later).
-The learning area was laid out nicely and I think everyone had a good view of the instructor. We were positioned around a large table for the most part, but we did go back to the kitchen for a quick bit of wok stir frying.
-Once the class was finished and the food was cooked, we were seated at the same table we learned from and presented the dishes as a nice meal, it was a great way to end the evening (and everyone was very hungry by that point after working with all that food for the past 2 ½ hours).
Our favorite dishes were the wings, sui mai and the baozi.
-Items for sale came with a 10% discount, I picked up a nice cleaver for a fair price that I’ve since used at home and like very much.
Cons:
-Couples/partners were often given one item between them during the class to share work on. The individuals who came solo had their own items. The couples were then required to determine who would do what with a shared resource while the solos got to do everything. Considering that we paid full price for each person, I feel that everyone should have gotten their own set of items to work on. It was a more complete experience for the people that came solo.
-For the baozi, we actually cooked out of the Baozi kits that School of Wok sells. I have to admit this seemed very self serving and I would have much rather cooked from common ingredients that we find at the market. I understand that the kits are faster acting for dough than waiting for yeast to rise, but in other bread making classes I’ve attended we would work with the base ingredients to make the dough, then the instructor would have some other risen dough available to complete the preparation. I just think that’s a better learning experience than opening plastic bags from a kit. For the pickled veg, we literally mixed a powder with water to create the pickling solution rather than the simple act of mixing vinegar, sugar and other spices (I had to ask for the real recipe).
My minor complaints aside however, we had a very good time during our class. Even as an experienced cook, I learned some new techniques that I will apply going forward. There are some areas that can be addressed but for anyone looking for a good evening learning to cook and enjoying some good food, I would recommend School of Wok and would visit again if I had the opportunity.

Had a 10-4 session here doing takeaway classics on 8th Sept 18 - thoroughly enjoyed it - thanks Heather for being a great tutor and explaining all the tips and tricks of the trade. It’s a lot of work and a lot of eating but well with the money that my wife and kids paid for me to go - whether you are a novice or want to get more into Asian cooking - I can not recommend this highly enough !!! Keep up the good work guys !!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

A fantastic afternoon for our first company get together. Nev and his team were incredibly welcoming and everyone had a great time! I would strongly recommend for anyone looking to book a corporate day out. It is also in a great location with plenty to do in Covent Garden after the cooking.

Was postponed due to Covid , was easy to sort a new date. We had a great day the teaching was fantastic and the food we cooked was great. Would highly recommend it to anyone

We had an excellent experience at school of wok. We were a group of work colleagues and everyone enjoyed it. They catered for all dietary requirements and were very flexible. Highly recommend!

Excellent way to spend and learn how to cook great vegetarian Thai Food . Easy to follow chef called Ruby, she explained it very well in the current socially distanced world that we live in. Great instruction and the food tasted divine

Brilliant place to learn something new! Our chef/tutor was good at teaching. Here we made dumplings and cooked Chinese chicken noodles(I forgot the proper name). Groups were formed of 4 to 5 people. He visited each group frequently to check whether we needed help or not. They taught us how to cut and chop vegetables in a chines way. After that they gave us plenty of time to replicate the process. Would recommend new people to this place to learn Chinese cooking.

Emma was a fantastic teacher & I learnt a huge amount about Chinese food and culture. Great day to spend a Saturday at one of the cooking classes here!

Brilliant school with superb staff. Philip and Sharon were fantastic. Difficult to fault a seamless day of instruction, cooking and eating excellent food. Oh, and drinks!
Highly recommended.

Perfect place for team bonding experience. The staff are brilliant. Our chef was very patient with our rowdy crowd 😉 but we made him proud with our self cooked dim sums, Thai curry and Thai salad.

I've been to one class there, vegetarian chinese cooking, and I've found it great.
The group was not too big and the teacher was friendly, experienced and professional.
I've learned few little tricks I will definitely use next time I cook some chinese food.
The wine and the final candle light dinner were a nice warm touch

Great 👍 experience and a lovely day! It was a nice group and we had a very pleasant teacher who took his time not just to teach. He checked in with each on off us as we were preparing the dishes and made sure we were following the correct techniques. I had a great time ,the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were all nice and professional. Thank You!

A phenomenal experience! Thank you to Ruby and the team for providing myself and my group a fantastic and a memorable day. I definitely recommend this place if anyone is willing to try something different after being locked down and isolated for too long!

Great fun learning some basic Wok and dumpling skills! Thanks to Shannon.

My husband and I attended the Introduction to Thai Cuisine just over a year ago and we're still using the tools and recipes we learned then to cook Thai at home every week. The instructor was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the session. Delicious food was produced and enjoyed. An excellent experience! Looking forward to booking our next class 👍
R. A.
I can only give this three stars as our waiter kept getting the order wrong and in the end we had to almost leave to get their attention to get the bill. It tasted fine but I've had better for cheaper elsewhere in the vacinity
K. K.
Exceptional experience.
Unreservedly, this is the best cooking class experience I've had the pleasure of taking. Unlike other schools I've attended, this was spacious and well lit, enabling a convivial atmosphere - the maximum class size is 10. I attended the Korean BBQ class and the resulting food was superb in flavour and portion size. The school suggest brining Tupperware or similar containers to take away any extras - bring plenty. Of the 3-hours, we spent arount 2.5 preparing and cooking the dishes, which is much longer than I've experienced elsewhere and made it more enjoyable. Our teacher, Yun, was a delight; informative, educational, and with a great humour. I came away enthused and excited to try out new dinner party dishes. This was money well invested and I highly recommend it.
P. S.
Great day learning how to cook properly with a wok. Heather and her assistant Sharon were brilliant teachers and made the day even better than I expected. Great value considering it’s a six hour course with five dishes cooked and drinks to go with it. Thoroughly recommended.

This place is an absolute must!! me and my boyfriend went as a Christmas gift to each other and it was so much fun. We did the Vietnamese class which was so much fun!! The tutor was great and she was very patient. We got a lot done throughout the day. It is worth the money. We had lots of food left over to take home which was amazing. Great place to take someone as a gift. Good fun and you learn so much and get to take the recipes away with you.

Done the 3 hour takeaway classics course on Friday evening and have to say that me and my fiancée had an amazing time. The lesson was conducted professionally and in a fun way. Heather was very knowledgeable and very honest when it came to buying equipment after the class not over selling us bits we didn’t need as many other places would. We had a truly amazing time and are already looking in to returning. Thank you!

My sisters and I went to SoW last night and we were the first people they have hosted since reopening after the coronavirus. I was so impressed by the care and attention they took to make it safe but also fun. This is my second time here and I just love what they do - learning while having fun. We made some mean Vietnamese. Thank you guys, keep it up

My wife and I had a 3 hr lesson on making Chinese food and the use of the wok. It was great fun, very useful tips and a delicious end result. Overall a great night out.

We went to School of Wok for our office Christmas party and had a great time, 3 hours just flew by! The food was delicious and simple enough to make under their expert guidance - Steffan, Melissa and Hannah were great hosts and teachers and our meal was delicious! Our vegetarian was very well catered for and having a wok each to take home was a nice add-on as well. Thanks very much!
J. B.
Good idea for a gift - food was great and teacher (Paddy) was extremely helpful! Drinks topped up regularly (oi oi) and staff very friendly. Thoroughly recommend the Chinese Takeaway Classics for people who enjoy Classic Chinese Takeaways.

Did the full day Dim Sum and Bao class with my wife at the weekend, full-on day but cooked much more and learnt much more than we expected, good fun with the teacher and other participants. Day was well paced and highly recommended

Came here for a work team building event. The task was to make some bao buns. It was a lot of fun and we were well looked after by the owner. The result was a few delicious buns washed down with a beer. Highly recommended if you want to have fun with a group and eat well too.

An really great fun team building activity which our entire team thoroughly enjoyed. We all learnt new skills, had a fabulous meal and we also were helping to provide food for a local shelter. Great value for money! Premises were very clean and and the kitchen spacious. Would highly recommend!

Went for dim sum cooking class, there was 4 of us in total. Although the instructor was energetic we didn't learn much about making dim sum other than going to the Asian supermarkets to buy dim sum pre-made sheets. They didn't go through in detail how to make the filling (just appeared in a bowl) or the pastry (pre-made sheets from shop) which was super disappointing. Instead they speed everything up and made us just slice vegetables (to "engage" with us). Growing up in an oriental household I've had some exposure to how fun and informative dumpling making can be but overall the class was just a quick and expensive way of feeding us. Would NOT recommend for the prices they are charging as not true authentic experience.
EDIT: Upgraded this to a 4 star review due to their detailed response on my review with I really appreciate. Thanks for clarifying the purpose of the class, if this could be updated on the website I'm sure future clients would appreciate it. Thanks.

Came to School of Wok for a company team building experience.
what a pleasure it was, healthy competition, learned how to cook Chinese and got to eat our tasty dishes at the end.
The Chef and our host were attentive and fun!
would highly recommend!

I recently purchased some cooking equipment from School of Wok's website. I received my order within 24 hours which I wasn't expecting and was a lovely surprise. Very efficient service, excellent product and very reasonably priced. I haven't attended any classes (yet!) so can't comment on that, however I would not hesitate in recommending them for purchasing items online.

Incredible evening, I have never done a class like this before but I most certainly will again. Our instructor Ruby was awesome, as was the food!

I attended one of School of Wok's supper clubs which I gather is run every few months which, apposed to their core business (oriental cooking classes) is a chance for punters to sit back sample the food cooked by the experts. And experts they are!
I was on my own but there was around 20-25 other people in small groups or couples - one of the great things about this event is that you are sat on larger tables which gives you a chance to mingle with strangers while sharing the various dishes brought out.
It's safe to say no one goes hungry at these events, and I got to try lots of things I'd not necessarily order in a restaurant. With each set of dishes, head chef Jeremy explains what is in them and the various flavours. I don't think there is a set agenda - more a compilation of their best/favourite dishes so I was trying various fish fillets on beds of marinated fruit, curries, langoustines, king prawns and amazing fishcakes (I have no idea what they were coated in but tasted awesome!)
It is a super relaxed and open environment and it's no wonder that these events are full capacity. This event is definitely on my radar for next time with the missus and am inclined to take one of the classes to learn how to cook this food myself!
Highly recommended if you are looking to dine slightly differently to a stuffy overpriced restaurant.

DON'T GO ON A FULL STOMACH!
My boyfriend and I are fans of oriental cuisine esp after recent trips to Vietnam and Hong Kong, but had NEVER cooked anything from that ilk (i'm more of a pie and mash girl in the kitchen!) so we visited the SOW team in Covent Garden for their "Flavours of China" course.
It was BRILLIANT!
We had an initial tour of nearby China Town learning so much about the types of food in different regions and styles of Oriental cooking from the very talented Chef Jez Pang, including a few facts which have changed our view on Asian Cuisine forever. We then chose some ingredients we thought looked exciting and then headed back to the brilliant nearby School of Wok Cookery School kitchen for a few hours of cooking and eating!!! We learnt how to chop, slice, wok and garnish about 5 different meals.. and of course eat them after.
It was a brilliant day, even though we didn't know the rest of the group it was relaxed enough to feel comfortable chatting and laughing, there was rarely a moment of calm with the amazing charisma of the chef and us students getting giddy on the smells of the amazing food!
We now regularly cook the various recipes we learnt that day - its really made seriously good chinese cookery approachable and accessible for us at home without worrying about making a trip to a specialist supermarket!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for couples, groups or just if you fancy a day out on your own... seriously! DO IT!

Brilliant experience. Enjoyed the day learning new things and perfecting old. Great bunch of people at the class today too. Mel was hilarious and a great person to learn from. Not to mention the staff in the background, who were discreet and made sure everything was well organised. The atmosphere was brilliant, the concept is fantastic, with the layout and every detail has been thought out incredibly well. Hats off to you.
