Reviews of The Avenue Cookery School

Great fun at the avenue cookery school! We received this as a gift and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We thought we might not be full since the menu didn’t seem like a lot of food at first, however, make sure you don’t eat for a while before…. You’ll be leaving VERY satisfied! Each step was guided by our chef first and the staff were very attentive with helping us. Loved the unlimited wine too- bonus!

We did the Boa Class and it was fantastic. The teachers were knowledgeable, passionate, super friendly, and helpful. They seemed to really enjoy themselves, which made the whole experience loads and loads of fun.
The dishes we made were straightforward, yet delicious - and the wine was bottomless. Great experience I'd recommend to anyone.

I was gifted a Peruvian class and went there last Saturday. All ingredients were prepared in advance, recipes easy to follow and fun to make, excellent chef and staff there too. It was so fun I would highly recommend it whether going as a couple, with friends or family even alone like what I did because it was easy to befriend with people who share the same interest for cooking.

Just had a wonderful morning including lunch doing The Avenue’s Fish Course. I have aways been intimated cooking fish and Richard made the many different approaches simple. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fish and wants to try to cook for themselves.

Had a brilliant day with my 9 year old son at The Avenue Cookery School. Can highly recommend it as a family bonding session! Richard was engaging and entertaining. The food was delicious too...down to my son's cooking not mine...!

We went to the sushi and cocktail making class, we had to book quite far in advance but it was well worth the wait! The teaching was excellent, the ingredients delicious and the end product was amazing. Would definitely go again.

Had a great time on their knife skills course. Richard was a great teacher, knowledgeable and entertaining. The food was also lovely. A really great experience and fairly priced.

I bought the Italian class for my boyfriend for Christmas and we had an amazing time. Aperol spritz on arrival, then we made a Tiramisu, Tomato Bruschetta & Tagliatelle.
The cookery school is family-run and we learnt so much from the Head Chef - how to make the perfect tiramisu, why you shouldn't leave onions wrapped in foil in the fridge - and all the science behind! Not only was it really fun we actually learnt some facts about cooking too 😂
We absolutely loved it and will definitely be coming back & bringing our friends too!
Thank you for having us!

Update: I've now participated in a second course at The Avenue Cookery School, and it fully confirmed my excellent initial impressions after my first course. This time it was the Spanish Tapas regional cookery class. Learnt plenty from class leader Richard and sous chef Martha (hope I've got the name right) and flipping a six-egg part-cooked tortilla from pan to plate and back to pan was certainly an experience! Got to make, and then consume, some delicious dishes (photos show hearty tortilla with romesco sauce and dainty stacks of chorizo, piquillo peppers & quail eggs) along with bottomless wine. Such a great way to spend Halloween Sunday evening.
My first course at The Avenue Cookery School, but I can see that I will certainly be returning for mains, pudding, and indeed a multi-course tasting menu of other classes over time. Started with the Useful Sauces technical class which was a great way to spend an autumn Sunday afternoon and I learned many useful tips from both class leader Helen and sous chef Enzo. I attended alone and was paired up with another participant for the class which worked really well. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
