I’ve been training in Kung Fu and Tai Chi with Tiger Crane Kung Fu for a little over six months now. Although the training can be challenging, the practice of Kung Fu has benefitted me in so many ways. While learning a martial art has helped me to become fitter, it’s also made me stronger (and not just physically). Plus, it’s fun to learn, the people are great and the teachers are both extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled at what they do. I’m happy to have found the club and excited about continuing my martial arts journey with them.

If you’re looking to learn Kung Fu and self defense in London, look no further. Dave is a knowledgeable, experienced and extremely patient teacher, who will not only make you good at Kung Fu, but will also push you to become your best self.
I’ve been training Tiger Crane Kung Fu with Dave for four years now, and it has made me fitter, stronger, healthier, and more confident.
Classes are always fun, and we are a friendly, welcoming bunch :)

Have been training here for years - an unusually traditional club where you will learn lots of patterns and do a lot of hard drilling (although tai chi is also available), but also all of the wider life principles and conduct of a serious martial arts family. Most of the senior students have been training many years, and at least half are women so there's no macho posturing. And there are semi-contact sparring classes and competitions so you do train to fight for real. Cannot recommend strongly enough - life changing if you put a little time into it!

It is the teacher and the club (people) I was looking for.
If you had your trial lesson and liked it – you are likely to stay for a while.
There are no surprises to be afraid of. It's just very solid and good experience. There is depth and there is fun.
Starting is easy – you don't have to be an athlete. But you'll become one over time if you keep training.
You don't have to fight if you don't want to, but if you do – you'll find an opportunity to gradually train self defence in a safe environment.
There is really nothing not to like, if you are looking for a good and all rounded martial arts club - you found it.
Happy to answer your questions online.

Been with Dave for nearly 8 years so far, which have been truly life changing. If you are looking for effective self-defence, improved health and fitness and greater strength (physical and mental!) - look no further! Forget the gym, Dave's kung fu will give you all you've ever wished for, and more! Worth mentioning also all the fantastic mates you will make in training, give it a go 👊☺

A former university wrestler in the U.S., when I got here I missed training so I tried several tai chi and kung fu clubs. I settled on Tiger Crane Kung Fu and have been training with them for over 3 years now. The club is well-run and friendly. The level of instruction is high, but not intimidating.
It is very much a traditional Chinese kung fu club, and employs traditional Chinese methods of instruction. There is an emphasis on correct posture, movement, breathing, and mental discipline techniques. Progression is based on learning and perfecting patterns, but there are sparring and weapons classes as well.
Students in the adult classes are diverse, with roughly equal numbers of women and men ranging in age from teens to septuagenarians. There are students, solicitors, tradesmen, bankers, writers, software developers, charity workers, and more.
In addition to regular training, there are club events like weekend outdoor seminars, training trips and monthly dinners at an excellent and very authentic Sichuan restaurant on Old Street.

I have been training with the Fujian White Crane Kung Fu club in Islington for more than 10 years and I still absolutely love it! There are lots of reasons why I continue to show up to class, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that Dave Courtney Jones is a brilliant and inspiring teacher!

I've been training here for around four years now and find it a really good and friendly club. On a Sunday morning you can train Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Sparring and even learn weapons. A nice way to end the week and still have the rest of Sunday to yourself!

After more than a decade of training with Dave, I can honestly say I can't recommend him highly enough as a kung fu instructor. His teaching and guidance has made me a better person and has given me more confidence than I ever thought I could have.

My son and I train kung fu and I also do tai chi - it's great for both body and mind. It's also something that works for everyone, regardless of your starting point. Good club feel too!
